Chapter 84

Dante’s POV
Suddenly, the pressure of work and unexpected problems hit me like a storm. I was shocked to find out that someone in my company had betrayed me and committed quite a large corruption. Not only was the betrayal itself painful, but also the fact that all of this had been going on for five years without my suspicion.
After this situation was revealed, it felt like the world had collapsed. The reports that had been running smoothly turned out to contain deep lies. Now, I had to face the consequences, and losing the trust of the leaders made me even more depressed.
“Mr. Irwan, how is this?” I finally dared to contact my best friend and co-worker, Mr. Irwan. My heart was shaking with uncertainty, and the stress was like a heavy burden on my chest.
Mr. Irwan answered quickly, “Dante, I just heard this bad news. First of all, we need to calm down and gather all the evidence. If we don’t do anything, this situation will get worse.”
I nodded even though I was devastated. “I don’t know where to start. Will all the trust I’ve built in the company be destroyed?” I said in a trembling voice. Everything was spinning in my mind, and I felt as if there was no way out.
“First, we will find out what really happened and who was involved. We need to take strategic steps,” Mr. Irwan said firmly. “Together with the finance and legal teams, we will audit all reports and transactions. If there is anything suspicious, we will investigate it further.”
His words provided some relief. “This is risky, Mr. Irwan. If I find the people involved in this fraud, can I trust them?” I asked anxiously.
“There will be risks, but we can’t work alone. We need a team we can trust to help us,” she responded. “Talk to the legal team if necessary. You are not alone in this situation. We will find a solution together.”
Hearing her words gave me a little hope. Although the road ahead seemed difficult, I could not back down now. I knew that the first step was to face the situation head-on. If I wanted to regain trust and restore stability to the company, I had to do something.
“Okay, Mr. Irwan. Thank you for your support. Let’s make a plan quickly and find out what really happened,” I said firmly, feeling the courage return to me.
We began to plan the steps that needed to be taken, gathering data and involving the finance team to conduct a thorough audit of the existing reports. At the same time, I also tried to keep my children from feeling the emotional burden of this. Although the situation in the company was very disturbing, I wanted to remain a strong mother to them.
That night was a night of planning and hard work. Together with Mr. Irwan, and the team, we focused on developing a strategy to deal with the problems that had occurred. We examined each financial report, looking for clues, and discussing possible steps that needed to be taken. Every minute was precious, and we knew we had to act immediately.
While the world outside was dark and quiet, we were still working in the conference room, surrounded by piles of documents and laptops. I was forced to work overtime, devoting all my energy and thoughts to the company, for the trust we had built. In such a situation, I felt a great responsibility on my shoulders—not only for myself, but also for the entire team and the company.
Suddenly, I remembered Aurora at home. Although all this was draining my energy and attention, I was determined to continue to patiently share the situation. “Aurora, I will solve this company problem soon,” I said as I gave her the news via text.
Not long after that, my phone rang. I saw a reply message from her. “Don’t forget to eat, Dante,” Aurora wrote. It was a simple message, but it warmed my heart.
When I read it, I smiled. Even in the midst of this busyness, Aurora always remembered to take care of me. “Thank you, honey. I will eat right after this,” I replied, feeling warmed by her care and affection.
After a while, I dared to take a break. I headed to the pantry for something quick to eat. As I enjoyed a simple snack, my mind kept spinning on all that I had to face. I found myself praying that we were doing the right thing, fixing everything that had been broken.
Back in the conference room, I found the team members discussing the latest data in earnest. The atmosphere in the room was focused and tense, but there was also a sense of coming together to address the issues we were facing.
“This is the time to act decisively,” I said, preparing myself to lead the discussion. “We need to find a way to conduct a thorough audit and communicate with legal. Trust must be repaired if we are to move forward.”
All eyes were on me, and I could see that they were all holding their own knowledge and experience. The atmosphere was conducive to me speaking further, and I continued, “We need to quickly put together an audit plan to track the flow of funds, finding every possible way that something could have gone wrong. Every little detail could mean a lot. Is there any data we can get to start investigating?”
Mr. Irwan, his right-hand man and one of the key members of the team, spoke up. “We have been collecting financial reports for the past few years. We need to look for suspicious patterns and transactions. I suggest we do a deep dive to find the first clues.”
“I agree,” said another team member. “And we should also talk to legal authorities immediately. The consequences of this betrayal could be huge, so it is important for us to protect the company from further potential risks.”
