Chapter 36

Dante's POV
Beside me, Aurora let out a sob of emotion. Her tears were mixed with joy and relief. Looking at her face, I knew how much she was feeling right now. She had gone through so much, and all that pain was now paying off with the arrival of our three babies.
One by one, the nurses brought our babies to Aurora. “This is your first baby,” one of the nurses said as she handed the first baby, a tiny, neatly wrapped girl. Then came the other two, all looking healthy and perfect.
“Aurora, look at them!” I said, my eyes sparkling with gratitude. We both watched intently as the nurses placed the babies into Aurora’s arms.
As Aurora held her babies, my tears flowed unstoppably. Today, we were not just a couple—we were parents to three little creatures we loved unconditionally.
“I love you, honey,” I whispered, wiping away the tears that were streaming down my cheeks. “This is the beginning.”
There was peace in the room, and even though it was all so emotional, I knew that our journey had only just begun. Together, we would live this life as a family, and every step we took forward would be filled with love and passion.
Lightly, I held Aurora’s hand, realizing that we had created this miracle together. As that peace sank in, I knew that no matter what, we would be together—a family, forever.
After an hour, Aurora was moved to the inpatient room. Seeing her happy expression warmed my heart. She looked radiant, filled with joy as she finally held and exclusively breastfed our baby boy for the first time.
While the nurses helped prepare everything, I sat beside Aurora, watching this beautiful moment with deep gratitude. Our three babies were now here, but we had not named them yet. I realized that I had not prepared names for them, expecting that they would all be born in a month, but it had come sooner than I expected.
I looked at Aurora with such happiness, as if I couldn’t believe this was real. “Hello, Mom,” I said, trying to imitate a cute little child’s voice to cheer Aurora up.
She chuckled, a sound so pleasing amidst her emotional state. “Dante, you always know how to make me smile,” she replied, a smile spreading across her face.
“You want to know something? We need to think of names for them now, because I don’t want us to keep calling them ‘baby one,’ ‘baby two,’ and ‘baby three,’” I said, trying to distract her from her thoughts that were probably starting to feel exhausted after giving birth.
“You’re right. We need to name them. Names that they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives,” Aurora replied, looking more excited.
“How about we think together? We can find inspiration from anything,” I said, thinking of all the possibilities.
This precious moment felt so intimate. I looked at Aurora with love, ready to enter a new adventure in our lives as parents. Amidst all this happiness, we would share the responsibility and love for our three children.
As we brainstormed possible names, I could see Aurora starting to form ideas in her mind. It was a simple joy that meant so much, and as I listened to Aurora talk about her hopes and dreams for our children, I felt more confident in the new direction we were about to take together.
“Whatever we name them, they will reach out to the world and know the love we have for them,” I said, feeling the magnitude of this goal and journey.
With the passion and love between us, I knew that no matter what the future holds, we would be able to navigate through all the challenges and joys by supporting each other.
The next day, I decided not to go to work. How could I work when my wife had just given birth? This responsibility was more important, and I wanted to make sure Aurora felt supported as she went through her recovery. I didn’t get much sleep the night before because I was with Aurora, who often had trouble sleeping. She felt a stomach ache after the effects of the anesthesia wore off, and with our babies still in the incubator, I could feel how messy her mind was.
Seeing her struggle with the pain made my heart heavy. I knew how much pain Aurora had to go through after having her stomach cut open to give birth to three babies at once. With every heavy breath, I tried to calm her down even though I was also anxious inside.
“Honey, what do you want to eat? Let me prepare it,” I asked wholeheartedly, hoping to help her feel better.
She shook her head slowly. “I’ll just eat the food from the hospital,” she replied, her voice still weak.
“Okay. I’ll bring you some. Make sure you eat well, Aurora. You need energy for your recovery,” I said, trying to reassure her.
I went to get some food from the hospital. Looking at what was available, I picked out a few that looked good enough. In my heart, it was a little hard to accept hospital food, but I knew it was what was available, and the most important thing was that Aurora was getting the nutrition she needed.
After getting the food, I went back to the room, setting everything down carefully so as not to disturb anyone. “Here you go, your food. Hopefully, it will help you feel better,” I said as I unwrapped the food for her.
Aurora smiled, a little brighter but still looking tired. “Thank you, Dante. You always know how to cheer me up,” she said, slowly trying to take a bite.
“You’re welcome. We’ll get through this together, remember?” I replied, happy to be able to care for her even though I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
As she began to eat, I thought back to the good times and the journey we had been on. With each passing minute, my hope for our family grew deeper. This moment was precious, and I was grateful to be there for her during this difficult time.
