Chapter 60
Dante's POV
“Molly, I can’t believe you said that all that money was just compensation for taking care of Roline. You clearly kidnapped her. You’re crazy,” I said, asserting my position.
She smiled sarcastically, using an argument that seemed to be detrimental to both Aurora and me. “You can’t blame me entirely, Dante. None of us are in ideal positions. This is a way to ensure the well-being of both parties. I want to make sure Roline gets what she needs.”
Inside me, I felt anger rising. But at the same time, I knew that there was no point in fighting right now. My passion was not to fight, but to get her life on the right track.
“Okay, we’ll talk about it later. At least she’s with her mother and the right person now,” I said, trying to keep my focus on my daughter’s health and happiness.
In the midst of this heartache, I remained determined—I would not let this situation ruin our family’s future. Roline would never be ruined by the games and ambitions of adults. I would fight for a better future, for all the love I had in my heart.
As night fell, the atmosphere in the apartment was tense and irritating. Molly appeared in a flashy, sexy dress. When we were dating, I had often complimented her and admired her physique. However, none of those feelings remained now. My focus was now solely on Roline and her well-being.
“Give me a child, Dante!” she exclaimed, looking at me with desire in her eyes. There was a sense of urgency in her voice that made me feel increasingly uncomfortable.
“No. This marriage is only to save Roline,” I replied firmly, trying to establish the boundaries that had to be upheld in our current relationship. My heart was struggling to stay focused on what was important.
However, the atmosphere changed quickly. Without my realizing it, Molly offered me a glass of wine that looked tempting. In my still tense state, I accepted it without a second thought. I didn’t realize that the wine was laced with aphrodisiacs, and it seemed like I was going to be in a very difficult situation tonight.
Molly was close to me, and as we talked, she continued to tease and seduce me with her piercing gaze and smiles. Throughout the night, I felt a little out of control. The atmosphere around me made me even more confused, making my thoughts and feelings mixed up.
Without realizing it, I spent this night with Molly. These unexpected moments made me sway between feelings and desires. There was a strong urge that arose, but deep down, I knew that this was not what was supposed to happen—not this way and not with Molly.
As the night passed and the moments ended, regret began to gnaw at me. I felt trapped in a vortex, where the decisions made seemed to destroy the boundaries between us. Even as I lay beside her, my thoughts returned to Aurora—what could happen next and how this would affect our future.
I had to find a way out of this situation. No matter what, I would not let Aurora become a victim in this unhealthy game. My mind was spinning, building determination and hope to get everything back on track, even though it felt like a nightmare right now.
After a week of being locked up in Molly's apartment, I felt increasingly depressed and confused. She announced that she had had enough for this week and planned to leave again. When I asked where she was going, Molly more or less ignored my question. “It’s none of your business,” she replied coldly, and her attitude was very disappointing.
Finally, I left the apartment feeling a mixture of very strong emotions. On the way home, my thoughts were spinning about Roline, about what would happen to her, and everything that had happened over the past week. However, as I walked, I suddenly realized something important.
“What about the lunch boxes that I was going to give to the kids?” I thought to myself. I felt like I needed to grab them before I went any further. These were small gifts for Roland and Ronald that I wanted to show how much they meant to me. So, I decided to go back to Molly’s apartment.
When I arrived at the reception, I showed her the photos and proof that I had just been there with Molly, hoping that they would help. However, I was shocked and confused when the receptionist told me, “I’m sorry, but the name registered here is not Molly. She is Lia.”
“Lia?” I felt like the world was spinning. “Since when did Molly change her name to Lia? Why did she do that?”
The receptionist looked confused, but had no further information. “We can only see the name that’s registered in the system. There’s nothing we can do beyond that.”
My head was spinning as all the questions started to push me into a dead end. What was happening? Why did Molly feel the need to change her name and go into hiding? My suspicions were growing, and anger was starting to creep up on me.
Feeling hurt and betrayed, I left the receptionist, deep in thought. There had to be something more to this. Was Molly trying to hide something? Why were her actions and names so inconsistent?
As I walked down the street, a sense of anxiety began to wash over me. I couldn’t let this slide. Roline and her future depended on what was happening now. I knew I had to find the truth—find Molly and understand what was going on behind this whole game. The determination to find my way back for Roline was my only goal now.
After a stressful and anxious journey, I finally arrived home. As soon as I opened the door, the smell of cleanliness and the cheerful voices of children greeted me. Seeing Aurora spending time with our three children—Roland, Ronald, and Roline—gave me the peace I had missed so much. Roline looked better, and my heart was relieved to see her healthy after a week in the hospital.
