The voice sounds so familiar, and I can tell, it is Dave, it must be Dave,“Kelvin? Greg? Matthew? John?” I purposely called different names to see his reaction.
“I see, Cindy and I are not the only friends you have in this school, it's all good then.” He removed his hands, frowning his face and I ended up laughing at him.
“You need to check yourself in the mirror right now and see how you look, I was just joking, I knew it was you by your voice, okay? And you two are my only best friend.”
“As if you mean it.” He folded his arms.
“What book are we reading today? Tell me? I will go with your choice today, I promise.” I said, trying to cheer him up.
“You mean your words, right?” He asked again and I nodded.
“Okay, good, I think I will be choosing erotica books today.” He said, holding his laughter.
“Hey? Erotica? You must be joking, I am not supporting that.” I frowned.
“What did I do? You told me you will keep your words, so? What's wrong with reading erotic books? You promise.”
“Promises can be broken.” I said, still laughing.
“You are so tricky…” He said, carrying me up on his shoulder,“Pull me down, I will call the police.” I said funnily though, I was also having fun.
“Let's see about it.”
He finally dropped me, and he said,“Good to see you looking so happy.”
“Thank you very much, but you don't mean the erotic part?”
“Nah, I don't, you are still a Minor.” I felt insulted by it.
“What? A minor? Because I am not yet 18? Wait and see, when I turn 18, you will even beg to be in my life.” I walked with pride, and he clapped while walking with me.
“So, who got the chocolate box, don't tell me you have a boyfriend now?”
“Boyfriend? Hell no, I don't have a boyfriend and I don't have time for that, I just want my studies to end well…” and I get my revenge on the Golden brothers. I said this in my mind, this is my secret plan because the Golden brothers ruined my life at 16.
“That's good, so let me guess, a secret admirer?”
“You guess right, I really want to know who the person is, like how did he access my locker without having my password? It's strange right?”
“Yes it is, but the reason is more weird, how are you sure it's a boy? What if it's a girl?”
“A girl liking me? That better not happen, I will gladly break her heart.”
“You are so cold.” We walked together for a few minutes, still talking and laughing.
Cindy came out of nowhere,“Hi Dave, Hi Mariam.”
“Cindy, you are here, I was wondering when you were going to join us to complete the team.”
I didn't say a word and Dave noticed it, so he said,“Are you two fighting?”
“No…” We talked at the same time.
“Then you two are fighting, well as you all know, I am the oldest here, so I will let you two high scholars solve your differences, okay, see you all later at lunch, but I want to see you two being closer as before.” He said taking his leave.
I took a deep breath and turned towards Cindy. I really don't know what to say, but she started talking first,“I am sorry about yesterday, my sister has no right to talk about your family all of a sudden, she is nothing but a kid, please forgive her.” She held my hands.
“I was truly hurt yesterday, like she talked of someone I have never met in my entire life.” I said to her, looking so sad.
“I can tell with your eyes that you have been crying all night because of it. I feel so horrible right now, please forgive me.” She begged again.
“Fine I forgive you, yes you are right she is just a kid and I should not be angry with her.”
“Can I hug you?” She opened her hands wide and I smiled, hugging her.
“Thank you so much, Mariam, I really thought I would lose my chances with my best friend.”
“Can I make use of your phone?”
“Sure, here you go.” She passed me her phone and I excused myself to call Elena.
“Hello Elena, it's me, Mariam.”
“I am so upset with you, ever since the last time you called me, I haven't heard from you, it's been two months.”
“I am sorry, don't worry, when I finally get a phone, I will start calling you okay? But I called because I need your help.”
“Okay, I am listening.”
“Can you visit my home there in Scarovile?”
“Yes but why? Are you planning to return?”
“Not at all, I just want to know if my grandmother is there.”
“Well, I doubt that, I passed by yesterday and I saw a new tenant there, is your grandma not with you?”
“I see, anyway, thank you so much, I need to return this phone to the owner, I will call you when I get the chance again.”
“Okay, take care of yourself and avoid the Golden brothers.”
“Seems you can tell the future, I work for them.”

“Soon, I will explain everything to you, bye for now.” I ended the phone call and returned to Cindy, giving her the phone.
“Thank you so much, Cindy.”
“You are a welcome best friend,so tell me, your secret admirer got you something else.”
“Yes, the chocolate box and a note.”
“Wow, but that's not what I am talking about, I mean, let's go to class and you will see for yourself.”
“Okay, after you.” What could be waiting for me in class?
I entered the class with her and saw another flower, wow,this is getting out of hand.
After the class, our test week was announced. We have to get prepared for it, but I really don't know how I can cope with the Triplet and read for the test and the upcoming exam.

Taking a walk with Cindy at the school garden, the Triplet appeared from nowhere saying,“Come with us.”
“Cindy, I think I need to go.”
“No, you don't, just watch.”
“Are you deaf?” Suddenly, a heavy wind blew, landing them on the ground with their faces on the flowers. The students around started laughing, and I held back, saying,“Are you okay?”
“You are dead.” They said, walking out in shame and seeing them gone, I started laughing.
