Mariam ~
I noticed the place was peaceful and there was no sign of bully, rape or any other thing that can cause me harm.
“Anyone here?” I popped the question and got no response, then I believed I was alone in this place.
I sat close to the particular flower that attracted me and had a little talk with it.
“My name is Mariam and I just clocked 17 already, no celebration and no happy birthday from anyone, this place is empty, and I wonder if I am dead or alive.” I touched the flower and wore a beautiful smile.
“Do you know out of the life I have lived, today is my happiest moment? I won't be bullied by anyone here or get abused anymore, I wish to stay here forever.” I added, then I heard a female voice talking to me from behind.
“No, you can't be here, this is entirely wrong, you need to go back, Mariam.” I turned around to know who the person was, how is it possible for someone to know me in this kind of place?
The lady looks exactly like me, who the hell is she?
“Who are you? How do you know my name?”
“Who I am doesn't matter Mariam neither how I know your name, I want you to leave immediately, you are not supposed to be here.” She said and maintained a smile on her face.
She smiles just like me, who the hell is she? I am more interested in knowing more about her.
“Tell me who you are, I wish to know you, you look exactly like me, I deserve an answer please.” I said in a calm tone and stood at her front.
She smiled at me again,“You smile exactly like me, I really need to know who you are, are you a member of my family as well?” I was so curious to know everything about her.
“I am your mother, Mariam.”
“You are my mother? I thought she died.”
“Yes I did.”
I paused trying to understand everything that is going on now, if she is truly dead, does that mean I am dead as well? Did I die? No wonder, this place looks more peaceful.
“That means I am also dead, right?”
“No, you are not.” She replied with a smile.
“If I am not dead, tell me, how is it possible that I can see you? Are you a ghost?”
“No, you are not a ghost, you are in a state of coma, where you are is the boundary between life and death.” She explained to me and tears left my eyes.
“You are really my mother? I have missed you so much even though I have never met you. My grandma told me everything about you and how you love to smile even when a problem hits you deeply.” I said and hugged her in the process.
She caressed my hair saying,“I remember when I gave birth to you and held you in my hands, I can't believe you have grown up into a beautiful lady, I am sorry I was never part of your childhood.”
“Mother, why did you have to die and leave me all alone in this cruel world? Everyone hates me and I feel I don't belong here as well”
“No child, never feel that way, everyone has a part to play in destiny, I have played my part already and my happiness is to know you are alive.”
“Mom, I am not happy, I have never used the word 'mom' or 'dad', I just got the privilege to call you mother, I am just a slave and nobody to everyone else.”
“It's okay child, with the limited time you have here, I am happy I got the privilege to hold you one more time in my arms.”
“I don't ever want to let you go mother, I have lost you once when I was an infant, and now I have gotten older, I don't ever want to lose you again.” She wiped off her tears and smiled at me, I could see sadness in her eyes, and yet, she was smiling, now I understand what grandma means.
“It's almost time, you have to go back.”
“Mother, I don't ever wish to go back, I was bullied in high school, I got raped in the woods because I sleepwalk, everything get worse for me by the day.” I paused, trying to get myself together while telling her my story and remembering such memories.
“My new masters called the Golden brothers abuse me and take advantage of me whenever they desire, mom do you know why I lost my life? Their girlfriends bullied me and paid rogues to get rid of me, they forced me to take drugs and gin, raped me and left me for death.”
“It's okay child, everyone always has a story to tell when growing up. I am sorry you went through all this without anyone helping you, but I promise you, everything will be fine soon.”
“I don't think so mom, father has never looked for me, I don't think he cares for me or wants me in his life, please let me stay here with you and feel the warmth of a mother.” I pleaded with her, and she calmed down saying,“You don't belong here child, like I said, you are not dead yet, if you don't return, you will die for real, and I don't want that.”
“Please mother.”
“I died to keep you safe, do you want it all to go to a waste? I did everything to protect you from them, your father always loves you know that, soon you will know the entire truth.”
I didn't know what else to say, she died to keep me alive, if I don't return, it means my mom's effort got wasted, and I don't want that at all.
I hugged for the very last time and suddenly, everything started fading away and the last words she told me,“Mummy always loves you Mariam, know that.”
I cried, and suddenly, I opened my eyes. I realized I was in a hospital room. The Triplet, Cindy and her elder sister were in the room with me looking so worried about me.
“Mariam, you are awake? You are awake, I will get the doctor.” Cindy said, rushing to get the doctor and Jett came to me caressing my hair,“I am glad you made it alive.” He smiled at me, and his green eyes made him look extremely handsome to me.
Axel and Diesel looked happy to see me alive as well, the doctor came in and showed me his fingers asking me to tell him the numbers and I did exactly as he instructed.
He also carried out some tests and concluded that I was fine, but I needed to take my medication and get enough rest as possible, and he asked me if I take drugs, I explained to him everything that happened.
Cindy was crying and swearing at the guys, Jett's eyes looked so red, I felt he was angry.
I suddenly remembered my birthday, then I asked,“Cindy, what's today's date?”
“25th,why do you ask?”
“I missed my birthday, I missed it, why? This was not supposed to happen, I missed the special day of my life.” I burst into tears then Cindy's elder sister said something as she touched my head, I fell asleep immediately.
