Chapter 130: Father?

Chapter 130: Father?

Camilla

Already finding myself prepared as the body from the backseat flew forward through the gap between the two front seats, I took my hand and grabbed the neck of who is very clearly a man at closer glance. But before the fabric was even all the way off, I stilled and tensed as the smell of cologne hit me.

That break was all he needed as he pushed himself up, slipping the rest of the cover off for me. I could barely breathe as a pair of eyes so similar to mine stared back at me, brushing away the messy strands that had fallen over my face.

"Father?"

He is here? After one year of hearing nothing from him, he is here, currently in my car. I am stunned at how entirely different he looks from when I last saw him, but it is those eyes. Only someone who knew him well would be able to recognize those eyes.

"Hey, kitten." He panted, no doubt slightly winded by the harsh impact of my brakes.

Releasing my hold on his neck in shock, I want as my father sits up with a groan, painfully moving himself to the passenger's seat beside me. My mouth is practically agape in disbelief but yet another honk draws me out of my daze.

I didn't take my eyes off him as I began to drive again, only stealing quick glances on the road to ensure I wasn't going to crash into anything. This was the first time I have heard his voice in months and I can barely keep it together as I try to find a place to pull over but finding none.

"You are here?" I bit back my sob of relief, anger and confusion.

He has been gone for a year and now he is back looking nearly unrecognized and scaring the shit out of me in my car seems just like my father.

"I can't stay for long, I am afraid but we need to talk." He said, leaning down in his seat and keeping his eyes hidden from anyone around.

"What is going on? You just left without even a note and now…"

"I know, I know." He said, sounding truly apologetic but in a hurry.

"I am sorry for that and I promise I will be able to explain everything soon but I really need you to listen to what I am about to say to you."

I was admittedly a little scared right now but I didn't show it, or challenge what my father was asking right now. With a nod, he continued.

"I need you to promise me you won't tell a soul what I am about to say, Cam. Not even those men you are seeing."

My grip tightens around the steering wheel in surprise. He knows about them but I shouldn't be. Raphael has his resources and my father has his own as well.

"Why not?" I asked, turning off one road and onto another.

"Because there are some really bad people after me right now and so many things can go wrong from me even risking speaking with you. The less people who know, the better."

I knew I didn't have time on my side right now so instead of protesting or asking more questions, I simply gave a quick nod.

"Thank you," he said, shifting his gloves hand and wincing slightly, ignoring my narrowing eyes at the action.

"I have had a feud with an extremely powerful man dating all the way back to before you were even born. When I moved to this city with your mother, it was to keep under the radar and not because we were low on money. We had just barely gotten away from him and knew we had to stay hidden as possible, especially with your mother so far in her pregnancy with you."

It has been years since my father has even acknowledged that my mother existed, let alone speak about her so many times. This was very serious but all I could do was sit and soak up everything I could.

"For years as this man grew stronger in public, I made sure we overpowered him every step of the silence. If anything has ever happened to me, know that I have accounts set up for you with enough money to buy you a new life should you please."

A new life? Before I could open my mouth to speak, my father was pulling out a business card and pushing it into my hand.

"This is the number of someone who can help you with your finances should you feel the need to access what is both birthright and what you deserve. I know wasn't the best father figure but you will always be taken care of, that much I can promise you."

"What is.."

"Turn right up here." He said, indicating a narrow alleyway that most certainly didn't look safe.

"I don't understand…"

"I know, kitten. I am sorry that I can't stay for longer but everything will make sense soon."

"Father?" I turned to him as I rolled to a stop, panic pushing its way through my bones.

"Stay, talk to me and we can figure this out together."

I watched as my father leaned towards me, his hand moving to my cheek and brushing away the tears I didn't know I would shed.

"You have gotten so much stronger." He said, his eyes flicking over my face as if trying to memorize it while he still could.

"Stay with those men of yours, they love you and they will be able to keep you safe when I can't."

I blinked in confusion and moved to undo my belt but I wasn't fast enough to stop him as his fingers slipped away from my check. By the time my head snapped up in regret, he was already gone, blending into the darkness and off to somewhere unknown.

Lucas POV

I watched as my daughter drove off in the same car she had a year ago before I left her behind. With the exception of that, however, a lot has changed about her in just a year of my absence. She looks stronger and healthier. I can only imagine those who she has been associating herself with were a major role in that.

In the past year I have been gone, I made sure to keep an eye out on her the entire time in secret, seeing her in pain, slowly recovering from it and finding the kind of love I have always hoped for her to find.

She was still hurting a lot, I knew I was partially responsible for that but I had to make sure she never found me. It was the only way to keep her safe and ensure I will one day be able to be a part of her life again. But she, being the well trained person I raised her to be, made my life in hiding extremely difficult for me.

Her private investigator found me within a month of being hired. Well that is a lie, I found him shortly after she hired him and then proceeded to pay him off for both his silence and expertise and with some persuasion, he did.

Not only did he keep quiet about my location but I also got him to feed Camilla fake leads that intentionally brought her to Kumon city. I knew I needed her here for yet another step of my big plan and even if doing so unknowingly, with my daughter's help the two of us are going to bring my entire organization up to power and obliterate the man who started this all.

In exchange for his assistance in this, it wasn't hard at all to make the investigator cave after I offered him triple of what Camilla was giving, as well as taking her money and placing it into the same account I had set up for her.

My little girl has no clue just how many riches she has in her name, but I reckon it is best to keep things that way for now. You see, this entire thing has just been small pieces to a much larger puzzle I have been creating for the last multiple years of my life. And the man who is responsible for all this chaos is none other than Raphael Jaxson.

Don't get me wrong, I have done way too many things at this point to be deemed as innocent in this ever growing rivalry between us but he and his sons were the beginning of it all. The order is a group I formed the first time I ever crossed paths with the mafia.

It was first merely a small gathering of people who too had been harshly impacted by the four crime families but it turns out I wasn't even close to being the only one who had scores that needed to be settled. There were thousands of people sick of rolling over to their forces and most of us didn't have anything to lose anymore.

My experience was only one of many but I have had to spend years in hiding with my entire family hidden under an umbrella of fake identities all because my brother was murdered in cold blood by a father, trying to teach his son a lesson.
