Chapter 230: We Are Done Playing Nice
Chapter 230: We Are Done Playing Nice
Gregorio
"It has only been thirty-five hours…" Adriano began and I cut him off instantly because we both know what could have happened in that time period.
We have sent another five thousand members out to Dubai to search for Harper on top of the three thousand we have already had searching for Camilla and yet all of this was fucking useless. Out of the three of us, I have been the one having to keep everything together for every second of every day and when I stood up from my seat, it took everything in me to not just break the entire world around me and damn the consequences that came with it.
I heard Adriano's step towards me as I spun back around to face him, my hands curling into themselves but both of us froze as the lights above us flashed once, followed by the screeching sound of alarms in our ears. Our eyes met in understanding a second before I felt the vibration of our security system humming to life, revealing the only one possibility that could have set them off. Someone was in the house.
"Grab Domenico," I said over the ringing, indicating the security beach, the both of us pulling our guns as Adriano left and I placed the weapon to the right of my keyboard.
Any thoughts from before dissolved away as I began to type my access code into my computer, my aim being to load up the house wide security footage before whoever was in here could get either further in or out. When I felt a presence at my back, however, I straightened and took my gun with me at the same time a woman in dark blue appeared before me, the head of security who typically kept watch of the premises surrounding the house.
I lowered my gun only when I realized she was not a threat, my mind moving onto more urgent things.
"Report?" I said to her, furrowing my eyebrows as I first scanned through the outside of our house, trying to find any clue as to who and how many people could be here.
Each clip only takes me second but it is still tedious with so much space to go through.
"The perimeter barriers have already been successfully lowered along with denied access to all exterior exits and entrances on the north and east sides of the property. The intruder appeared to gain access from one of your shipment vehicles."
The parking garage, they had to have gotten in through the..
"Gregorio, get those footsteps up." Domenico demanded as he suddenly appeared at my doorway, muttering new orders and his thanks to Divya, the head security before she too was rushing away.
I didn't even bother to try and figure out what he had said as he came and leaned over my side, watching as I opened up the section to the garage, split into ten different angles of the flashing room. I held my breath as it loaded instantly, my mind wondering who the hell was about to die for daring to even touch our property unnoticed but then everything stopped.
Time, my heart, my thoughts, I felt as Domenico's large body tensed overtop of mine, Adriano's steps coming to an abrupt halt as he took notice of the screen before us. Or more so the woman bolting from one car to the next, barefoot l might add, trying to remain hidden as some of our best men closed into the room.
"Holy shít!" Domenico said what was on all of our minds as he moved away from me, standing upright in disbelief as the sight of Camilla filled all of our senses. Crouched down the temporarily hidden, the stunning, disheveled blonde carries the wild look across her face.
It is confident and free and a little unexpected and my eyes refuse to move away from her even as I pull my phone from my pocket in disbelief.
"Sir?" A man's voice answers my call before the first ring can even go through. He raised a hand to everyone in the garage as he awaits what I have to say.
Even though no words are spoken between Domenico, Adriano and I, we can all agree on one thing. We are done playing nice.
"The intruder is currently behind the solid black Audi to your left, bring the girl to the main living room upstairs and be sure that she remains unharmed. I would like to have a few words with her."
****
Camilla POV.
"Let go of me your fucking pricks!" I screamed as I realized just how royally I have fucked up. Harper already hidden away in one of the many bedrooms upstairs.
I knew it wouldn't be long for them to find her, my neon coloured note on the railing fairly hard to miss but I had been so careful to avoid triggering any of the alarms surrounding me. There had been a few times where Gregorio had taught me all about their safety protocols encircling the property, ranging from the silent ones at the entrance to the rotating security cameras in the garage.
After Raphael had snuck in that way on the first day I met him, they had explained a lot to me. At the time, I never would have thought I had needed it as much as I did today but it didn't matter much now. Somewhere along the line, I had messed up, the alarms silent but the rush of footsteps not so much. A ringing of a man's phone has been the first warning sign that I had been caught which led to now, my elbow being driven into a person's stomach just to be met with the hardness of a bullet proof vest.
"Fuck…."
"Don't hurt her." That same man from earlier ordered as a woman rushed at me from my front, stopping too late as I planted my freezing bare feet into the concrete ground, using the momentum to flip her right over my body.
There were a lot of them, a near impossible fight but my heart was racing too hard for me to stop and think about that. Impenetrable metal wards had been lowered around all the exit about three minutes ago when I first triggered those damn alarms, however there was still one place available to me. There were still the stairs and I didn't waste a single second before bolting towards them, taking down two people in the process. They hadn't been killed but I heard a bullet shot even against a vest could hurt like a bitch.
"Stop!" Somebody else shouted as I ran, knowing that there were at least eight people advancing on me right now in the process.
Thankfully, however whoever sent these people after me were clearly under the orders that they weren't allowed to shoot. I used it to my advantage with every blurred second, running up the stairs that were only to be used when the elevator was down. My time here taught me that but I also haven't been prepared for how much the climb would slow me in comparison to everyone else. It wasn't much but ultimately, it hurt the little advantage I had.
Within a second, all of the air rushed from my lungs as the door was kicked open and my stolen gun was torn away.
"Get off…" my words cut off in a wheeze as the two people that grabbed me walked not even five steps into the living room before I was being shoved to my knees hard, my muscles screaming out beneath me.
"Gosh, you are such a bitch." Of the women I had hit in the stomach laughed as she walked through the door behind everyone else, the only one who kept walking while all of the others pointed their guns at my head.
I had recognized her as one of the ladies who helped to guard the front gate during the time I had come over for dinner and I could already tell she was going to bruise badly from my attack even with the vest she had on. I would have smirked if it hadn't been for the sight that snagged my eyes from only a handful of feet away, the sight that made my blood run hot and my skin turn cold.
"That would be all, team, thank you." Gregorio said quietly as his gaze pins me to the spot even as the hands keeping me down were removed from my body entirely.
All three of them, Adriano, Domenico and Gregorio were sitting side by side on the long brown couch in front of me, all sporting different reactions that brought me to the point where I didn't know how to breathe anymore. A flinching crossed my face as I felt a trickle of my blood make its way down the length of my right arm, dripping off my elbow and onto the cool marble flooring beneath me. It was from the same wound Adriano had given me only days ago, only none of it was his fault, no matter how much easier it would be if it was.
I knew that but I was still too much of a coward to let my shields down. All of this was on me and their crushing stares on where I remained kneeled was as painful as I was deserving.
