Chapter twenty-seven: Multi-millionaires

Domenico

"What is the name of the club and what is the pay like?"

"You will work on the main area of Gravity, you will be making five thousand per hour and get to keep all the tips you got." Her eyes widened.

"Wait, you guys work at Gravity?" It seems like she has heard of it before.

"Not work, princess. We own it." Adriano corrected her.

This seems to surprise her even more and I can't tell if it is a good or bad kind though.

"So that is how you were able to pay off the police. You guys are loaded then?" It made us smirked.

"Yes, you could say that." I responded.

I didn't mention the fact that we are all multi-millionaires even without the income from the mafia. Her attention draws back to me and her ocean blue eyes nearly stun me. She is really a sight to behold.

"If I am going to be keeping your secrets and having to be around you four times a week. Then I want fifteen thousand per hour and once you can trust me to stay quiet and if I enjoyed the work, I want to be guaranteed the position for at least one year.

Gosh, was she bargaining with us right now? No one in their right mind would challenge Adriano, let alone the three of us. This caused an amused chuckle to leave my mouth and Gregorio does the same.

"You are making it sound like it would be a chore to be in our company." I joked.

"It would be, I don't trust you more than you trust me."

Looking at my brother, Adriano. I know that it is him who will be the one to make the final call. A brief fall on us before he spoke.

"Alright, princess. It looks like we have a deal."

A smile appears on his face but it is not a warm one. It is the kind that shows he wants to both devour, destroy and tame her all at the same time. He wants her and she just agreed to work for us four days a week for as long as we want. I can only hope she is strong enough to handle him. To handle us.

Reaching out my hand to shake, her much smaller one meets mine. Her eyes looked up at me and I instantly noticed something had changed in them. She has a look of determination and something else that I can't seem to figure out. Typically, we would just kill the witnesses we couldn't rely on but Camilla was an exception. A beautiful unexpected exception.

Standing, she and Gregorio shake hands, he smiles but she rolled her eyes at the sight of her several thousand dollars watch. She muttered something under her breath that sounded a lot like predictable before moving to Adriano. Gregorio looked at me as she turned her back.

"Did she just call me predictable?" He whispered for only my ear to hear. I just smirked in amusement because I know her statement bothers him.

Gregorio is anything but I already know he saw her words as a new challenge. Unfortunately for her, we just happened to have the entire next month off.

Looking at her, she held her head high before reaching out her hand to Adriano. He didn't take it right away though, he just let her hand hang in the air. His lack of action caused her confidence to crack slightly and I know that was his intention from the start. An indirect way of asserting his power over her.

Finally, he stood up and took her hand in his, a small gasp escaped from her mouth when Adriano pulled her in closer to his body. She looked up to meet his eyes in confusion and annoyance but he didn't pay any attention to that. Instead, with his free hand, he moves the arm he is currently holding and slides the sleeve of her shirt up ever so slightly.

She tried to pull away but her efforts didn't come close to affecting my brother. At the sight of the bruise, Gregorio stiffed from where he was sitting. Adriano's fingers brush across the bruised area and even from where I am, I can see that goosebumps have formed on her body.

"Don't," she muttered, her calmness now completely gone.

He didn't say anything, it was as if he was lost in the finger marks she wore on her skin. I didn't want to be the first to speak but I was surprised by my brother's behavior.

I am great at reading people's minds but what was happening right now was just as much of a mystery as it was to everyone else.

"What is this?" He asked, his voice low as he still checked the bruises.

She stopped moving her body and instead looks to be relaxing into his touch as he continues to trace her skin.

"It was an accident, truly." She murmured but that isn't enough for any of us.

"And who gave it to you?" He asked again.

Gregorio describes her ex-boyfriend as someone with anger issues and the temper of a toddler. The thought of someone laying their hands on her especially to the extent of bruising her made me feel outraged.

"I don't see how this is any of your business." There was no attitude in her tone now, she was becoming closed off.

"Who did this?" Adriano repeated, his tone soft or you can say as soft as he can be.

"Don't…."

"Camilla!"

"I did it, okay." She said and her body grew tense as she waited for his reaction.

Adriano hides his emotions better than anyone I know but I can see that her response confused him just as much as the rest of us.

What does she mean by I did it? She looked behind her to Gregorio and I in panic before shifting her attention back to Adriano.

"Like I said, it was an accident. Nothing is wrong." She used her free hand to pull down her sleeve.

"Why would you do that?" Gregorio asked, drawing her attention to him.

The expression on her face looks almost sad because she tries to cover it up with a smile.

"I don't feel like telling you." We kept mute and she continued.

"I need to get back to work, can I go?" No one responded.

"Domenico, l spoke with you like asked and we already agreed that I would temporarily work for you guys. I didn't see the problem with me leaving."

I looked at Adriano and I know it is his decision to make. I was extremely confused by her response but we can't force her to talk about something that is clearly very personal to her. I mean, we could but it wouldn't feel right.

Even though I knew he didn't want to, he let go of her hand, allowing her to step back.

"Thank you." She mumbled quietly and turned to leave.

She took a few steps before turning back to face us and find out that we were all staring at her.

"How will I know more information about the job?"

"We will contact you." I replied and she nodded.

The mood here has gotten extremely low within only a matter of a few minutes but what is even worse is that she is trying to cover it up. She raised her eyebrows slightly, even though she was free to go, she still remained near us for just a few seconds.

"I don't know why l am telling you this but it was from a panic attack. I didn't feel myself doing it until afterwards but like I said, I am good now, okay?"

Her arms crossed over her chest and with a final look, she turned and walked away, leaving the three of us in slight dismay.

I hadn't expected her to actually tell us so willingly, especially opening up about what happened. I have never even thought of the possibility of her having a panic attack but now I can't help but wonder what causes them.

We didn't speak but we shared a look between the three of us, an unspoken agreement about two things.

First, Robin is going to get a visit soon and secondly, if she lets us, Camilla Ranger is going to be ours. We just needed to finger out the right way to make it happen.
