Chapter 101 Coming to your hometown

(Raphael's POV)
The night before Lena's official departure, I found Jamie.
Before this, it never occurred to me that I would need Jamie to do something for me.
"Jamie, I need you to do me a favor."
After hearing my request, Jamie did not hesitate and agreed straight away.
I asked Jamie to find a way to accompany Lena.
Although Jamie is still a child, however, he is much smarter than any ordinary child, and he knows what to do when it matters.
I would have loved to accompany Lena there, but, for once, I really couldn't get away.
After Lena hung up the phone, I turned around and walked into the conference room.
They had already arrived, and because I had to answer the phone, the group was waiting for me to return.
What makes this meeting a little different from the previous one is that there is a special guest at this meeting.
My father was sitting among them, and when he saw my return, his face, which had been ugly, became somewhat softened.
"Go on." He spoke, and only then did the others inside the conference room finally dare to move.
I've never been afraid of my father's intimidation; after all, I've been through this many times.
I sat quietly and listened to the arguments between them.
I didn't make myself known.
However, because of my father's arrival, everyone seemed to want to bring me to their side. Because they knew very well that if I didn't support them, then all their efforts would be in vain.
When everyone realized that I wasn't going to be ousted by them, they showed a different face.
A small smile appeared on my face, and at that moment, my eyes met William's.
William glanced at me, said nothing, and then withdrew his gaze.
However, I would instead like to know William's opinion on this project: "William, can you talk about your thoughts?"
The argument stopped instantly and all eyes were placed on William.
William looked at me and did not speak directly.
I certainly understood exactly what the look in his eyes meant, but I wasn't going to pay any attention to him.
"I think-" William elaborated his thoughts in a calm tone.
I know that William has never been an easy character, but if he wants to compete with me for something, he is still far from qualified.
I admit that there are some parts of William's idea that I agree with, but the drawbacks of this solution are also very obvious.
I'm sure my father would not have agreed with William's statement.
By the time William finished, the room was once again in silence.
This is normal, everyone knows that my relationship with William is not good. Although William had the care of my father before, this care has long disappeared. Everyone knows very well that I am the heir of the Hill family. No one would want to go against me at this time.
But just when I thought that was indeed the case, my father did something that I did not expect at all.
He looked at me and said, "William's method can be tried."
My brow furrowed: "But, Father, there are many other hidden dangers, and without a way to resolve them, we cannot make a decision easily."
"So, let's vote on it."
I had already guessed these results, and with my father's support, William easily gained the support of others.
Even if I knew how unreliable this thing is.
After the meeting was over, I didn't continue to stay and waste time, and I ignored him even if he wanted to continue talking to me about something.
Perhaps, my father has started to get old and confused.
(Lina's POV)
We got on the plane, then I had a sweet sleep and when I opened my eyes again, we were already at our destination.
I gently kissed Jamie's forehead, and Jamie woke up because of my kiss.
He reached out and gently rubbed his eyes, then stretched.
Then, I walked off the plane with Jamie.
Since my previous residence was in the countryside, I needed to continue to take a taxi to find where I wanted to go once I arrived in the city.
The driver who was willing to give us a ride was a local who seemed very enthusiastic and was willing to take our payment only after a few excuses.
"I'm planning to go back there too, very few out-of-towners usually come by, are you here to see someone?" I saw the driver pass us an inquisitive look through the rearview mirror.
I smiled at him and said, "No, this is my hometown and I'm not an outsider."
The driver nodded: "What a handsome child you have, I swear I have never seen such a good-looking child, and of course, madam, you are just as beautiful."
"Sir, you too."
"But, madam, I don't suppose you've been back for a long time?"
I replied, "Yes, sir, it's been about eight years, and I'm sorry I don't remember much about you."
"This time, of course, I also just came to this town, I only lived for a year, you certainly have not seen me, but if you want to wait to find someone, I can still help."
"Do you know everyone in town well?"
"There are not many people in the town, madam, many young people have left and the town has become smaller and smaller, there are many people left in the town, mostly older people, so I can remember them easily." The driver and I explained.
I still remember the scene when I just left here eight years ago.
Although the town was not considered very wealthy at that time, the illusion there was very beautiful. I did have a pretty good childhood here.
Before I left it, I never thought that it would one day be desolate.
I looked at the driver and continued, "So, you should be very familiar with the terrain here as well, right?"
"That's for sure, where do you want to go?"
Originally, I was planning to return to my grandparents' home first, but now, I have changed my mind.
I plan to visit my mother first.
I gave the address to the driver, but, surprisingly, the driver fell silent after hearing the address.
I thought it was because he wasn't comfortable going here, so I continued, "If it's not convenient for you, you can refuse me."
"Of course not, I just feel a little sad."
"Why?"
"Speaking of your sadness, I didn't know your mother had even passed away."
I let out a soft laugh, then, I withdrew my eyes on the driver: "No, it's okay my mother died the day I was born, so I've been used to this for a long time."
"That makes me feel even more sorry for you."
Although this driver was a little overzealous, I was touched by his kindness.
During the trip to the cemetery, he told me a lot about the town.
Although hearing these stories, I still can't help but feel a little sad. However, the thing that worries me most is whether I can still find people who know the truth about that year or not.
I have to know my true identity, which is related to everything after me.
Once we arrived at the cemetery, the driver said goodbye to us.
I took Jamie's hand and stopped by the florist on the side of the road to buy a bouquet as a gift for my mother.
It was my birthday and, at the same time, the anniversary of my mother's death.
I stood in front of her grave, and it was very rare for Jamie to not make a loud noise.
I didn't stay long because my time was limited.
After leaving the cemetery, I arrived at my grandparents' house with my memory.
This home seems to be unoccupied, and when I took out my key to open the door, I realized that my key didn't seem to open the door.
Jamie seemed to notice something different about me, and he reached out and gave me a gentle tug on the corner of my shirt, then said, "What's wrong, Mom?"
I looked over at Jamie and then shook my head as I said in a calm reassuring voice, "It's okay Jamie, mom seems to have gotten the keys wrong, just wait a little longer."
Jamie nodded.
I knew that it wouldn't matter if I kept Jamie waiting.
But this thing is just too strange.
I clearly remember this is the key, why will not open the room?
My brow furrowed and gradually I sensed that something was wrong.
I turned my head to look around, and the ring here really didn't look like it had been uninhabited.
Also, this house is not as dilapidated as I thought it would be.
I didn't get the address wrong, did I?
I pulled Jamie out of the place, then we went back the way we came and followed the map again, and when this house appeared in front of me again, I felt that something was not quite right.
"Mom?" Jamie tugged at my coat again.
"Jamie, just be quiet for a minute and let mommy figure it out."
Jamie nodded good-naturedly after hearing my words. Then waited quietly.
My face probably looked very ugly.
I pushed open the fence door again, walked to the doorstep, and took the key inside my pocket out.
Then, I took a deep breath and silently prayed internally that this time it would work.
At the very moment, I turned the key, the door handle surprisingly followed.
Before I could show my happy face, a piercing voice suddenly came from behind me: "Oh my God! What are you doing?"
I jerked my head backward to look at a middle-aged woman with teacher's glasses with a vegetable basket on her arm, looking at me with a frightened expression.
At this time, I looked in front of myself again by physical instinct, and the fan was opened from the inside, and there stood a young man.
He was frowning at me.
