Chapter 107 The End

(Lena'sPOV)
On my way to Lester's house, Rafael surprised me with a phone call.
"Bob and I said you were out again, why don't you get some rest since you just got home?"
"I thought you were busy, Raphael, no, why would Bob tell you what I was doing?"
"I'm the one who asked him."
"Okay then."
"So what the hell are you doing there?"
Rafael's tone had started to sound a little anxious. I understood how he felt, but if I told him now what I wanted to go do, he would probably be even more anxious.
"I'm going to visit an old acquaintance, and I'll be back soon, so you don't have to worry about me."
Although I said this, however, I knew that Rafael would not give up at all.
Sure enough, he still insisted on asking me who my old acquaintance really was.
I sighed and then said, "My father."
After hearing my answer, Rafael surprisingly went straight to silence.
I don't know what he was thinking, but now I was very apprehensive, and I was worried in that Raphael would let me go back now.
But Rafael didn't do that.
"Lena, listen to me, since you are going to see your father, you should already have thought about what might happen, right?"
I sighed, "Raphael, even if I didn't want to do exactly what I have to do, I have to go see him, there are many things that I can only find the truth from him."
"Okay, I won't stop you from doing such an amount of things, but, in the meantime, you must keep talking to me."
"What?"
Rafael wasn't about to hang up the phone, and I didn't know what to say.
I understood his concern well enough, but, my father shouldn't do anything to me.
"Lena, you don't understand that a man can do anything if he goes after a desperate situation."
"Why do you understand that?"
"If you must go, do as I say."
My brow furrowed tightly, although I didn't know exactly why Raphael was worrying like this, but this matter didn't seem to be negotiable.
Eventually, I compromised.
"Lena, listen to me, no matter what exactly happens in a moment, once he plans to do something to you, get the phone out and I'll be there to save you as soon as I'm sure you're in danger."
"Nothing will happen, Rafael, don't worry."
Raphael was right, according to their character, they would not let me off easily.
After realizing that I had already prepared everything, Suzy's face also turned ugly, and she looked like she had just swallowed a fly alive.
I certainly didn't care what she thought, after knowing the truth, the only thing I had to do was to make them get the punishment they deserved.
When I came out of the house that did make me feel endlessly depressed, I had a feeling of being reborn.
Rafael came to pick me up, and after knowing what Suzy was planning to do to me, he didn't stay on at work.
Although I didn't agree with him in this way, right now, I would prefer to have someone by my side.
"What are you going to do next?"
I turned my head and looked at Rafael: "It should be over, Rafael, he's my father and I don't want to do anything to him, but I can't be sorry for my mother either."
This absurd game should be over.
I fulfilled all my duties, and at the same time, I kept my promise.
I handed over the recordings together to the court, and I was confident that they would give me a fair answer.
For some time after that, I concentrated on the matter, and by the time all was said and done, it was late winter.
It was Christmas time again.
I felt as if I hadn't seen William for a long time.
He had just returned from France in order to see me before Christmas.
My memory still hadn't returned, but that didn't matter anymore.
Rafael told me he had found the man who was a master of hypnosis, but I was no longer as attached to the past.
Everyone is changing.
William and I met and he seemed to be in pretty good spirits, at least much better than when I at least saw him.
"It's been so long, Lena, almost ten years."
I too lamented the passage of time, but it was still a shock to have it brought up by someone else.
Hearing these words I let out a laugh and turned my head to look at William: "In another meeting, Jamie will be old enough to go to school, and you're not going to get married by now?"
My tone was flat.
William did not show a rushed expression, he laughed lightly, then turned his head to look at me: "Lena, enough, you know I have not been able to forget you, but if you are willing to leave Rafael, I can always marry you."
I knew what William said was all in jest.
Ten years of time, all those feuds should be over for good.
I wouldn't like William, and William knew that very well.
He had already let it go a long time ago, too, only he didn't have to pretend to be obsessed.
I hope that the person who impressed him can appear sooner.
Because of getting the Lester family assets, Rafael handled the work at hand more and more smoothly, and he didn't need me to help him with anything else.
I spent more and more time at home with Jamie, and it was also at this time that a feeling of despondency came over me.
I couldn't ignore such a feeling.
Raphael couldn't be with me all the time, and as much as I wanted to stand in the same place as him, he needed another person behind him.
There is no one better suited to this position than me, and I can give him what he needs.
Christmas arrived and it had been snowing for the first few days, and the whole world seemed to be flooded with white snow.
It was also at this time that Rafael finally had a little free time.
He didn't have to go to work today and could rest at home.
"Have you heard anything from your father?"
I shook my head: "He plans to file a lawsuit, but the lawyer has told me that the probability of him winning is very low."
"Will it be hard on your heart?"
"I think I should feel bad, Rafael, but I don't."
It may be true that I don't remember all the things he did to me because he once went so far, but as long as I can remember some of them, that means the father wasn't a good one.
"Next year, I'll go back with you to see your mother." Rafael thoughtfully helped me change the subject.
I really didn't want to keep discussing that man.
Rafael had prepared a gift for me, a delicate looking necklace that at least I had been enchanted by.
With a little light, you can see the brilliance reflected.
Out of curiosity, I asked him how expensive the necklace really was.
Rafael said he didn't know.
"How could you not know?"
"It was custom-made by me."
After hearing Raphael's answer, I still couldn't help but freeze for a moment.
Raphael didn't seem to expect such a thing to happen, and he probably thought I would cry out in excitement.
I was indeed excited, but it was more of a different emotion indeed.
"I don't think it's necessary to spend so much energy and money." This was my truest thought.
But Rafael interrupted me, "Lena, you deserve this, you deserve the best."
I raised my head and looked at Rafael.
His eyes were so bright that I couldn't help but fall. In the dim light, everything looked especially beautiful.
He kissed my forehead, and the comfort didn't last all the way through in the end.
Jamie came running anyway.
I must admit, this is my family, and I love them both, and they will be my favorite people too.
I never thought I would have a life like this.
There are a lot of people around me who have moved on, but, I've met just as many.
That's a good thing. At least I won't be stuck in ever again.
Rafael took several days off, which he didn't have to do, but I told him it was a rule he had to follow.
Rafael was very cooperative.
He simply wanted to make me happy, but, even if he did refuse my request, I wouldn't have said something else.
"There must be something else you want to do with me if you suddenly asked for leave, right?"
I looked into Raphael's eyes, and he looked at me with a sincere gaze.
Then Rafael nodded, "Lena, have you ever thought about having another child."
My smile faded and seeing that I was looking like this, Raphael didn't seem to expect it: "I wouldn't mind if you didn't want one."
"No, I'm just a little overwhelmed by the reaction."
I looked at Raphael and gave him a smile, "I don't have any problem with it, but it's something we'll have to ask Jamie about."
Rafael nodded, "Of course."
I knew why Rafael suddenly brought up this matter.
The once we were missing was all to be found back somehow. I had already missed Jamie's five years, and this time, there was no way I could continue to miss it.
Rafael has always been there for me.
I loved him so much.
Everything was going well, I did get pregnant, and by the next year, my delivery date came up.
I looked out the window and woke up with a sleep that suddenly felt surreal.
I couldn't tell if it was a dream or reality, and when I reached out and touched my belly, I knew that all of this was real.
Rafael pushed open the door and he walked in to say something unusual to me.
After realizing that I hadn't said anything, he looked up at me, "Lena, what's wrong with you?"
I shook my head and gave him a smile.
After a few moments of silence, Rafael said in a tentative voice, "Did you remember something?"
"It's strange, Raphael, I seem to remember all of it."
I remembered all of it, everything between us.
But it was the future that mattered, we both understood that.
