Chapter 75 Back to the Office
(Rafael's POV)
Lena's situation is really bad.
I've been well aware of this for a long time, but of course, most of them were not there to target Lena, but to target me.
What Lena did for me five years ago, they still remember. I have to say, these old bones are not much else, but they all hold a grudge.
They fear that Lena's return will again affect their interests.
That's for sure, except I hadn't had a chance to retrain Lena as my right-hand man before they did it.
I have always understood the practice of retreating to advance. William has now begun to enlist people in the Hill Group, and I can only temporarily put away my previous thoughts and get the situation under control first.
Lena made the necessary sacrifice.
Of course, she doesn't know the truth of what happened and probably still thinks, to this day, that what I did hurt her.
I saw Lena standing there helplessly. These times, I have not had the opportunity to talk about these things with Lena properly. First, for work reasons, and second, I was not ready to face Lena's previous problems.
Lena had changed. I wasn't sure if she would just leave me in a fit of pique if I told her the truth about what happened back then?
Calling the surveillance is not a difficult thing, except that there are a lot of processes to go through, and, for such a dispute is not worth it.
Taylor was a little hesitant.
But the other side is Lena. I can make that decision out of the box.
While it's true that Lena has left my side, that doesn't mean that others can bully her.
I got up from the couch and walked over to Lena's side.
Lena didn't look like she wanted me to come near her. But I didn't care what Lena thought. After I walked up to Lena, I reached out and gently stroked her hair.
I think my attitude was clear enough. Taylor didn't continue to hesitate and immediately called the appropriate staff.
And Debbie, who was standing aside, looked at us with a shocked expression.
I looked to Debbie, knowing full well what kind of a being she was.
Of course, I don't doubt that this is someone sent out by William anyway, after all, I'm afraid William wouldn't want to hurt Lena.
Although there were many arguments and disagreements between us, we reached a unanimous consensus on Lena. That is, no matter what, we will not hurt Lena.
Lena took a step back again, trying to avoid my movements. But I didn't give her that chance. I reached out my hand and gently pulled her back, stopping her from continuing to retreat.
Lena frowned as she gave me a strange look, and I smiled at Lena, although it wasn't very obvious. After all, we're out here, and we can't be particularly intimate just yet.
Lena took a deep breath as she tried to break free of my hand, but after several attempts, chose to give up.
Only things did not go as smoothly as I thought, although Taylor has received the video of the surveillance, but, Lena's location is the dead center of the video, the computer was not captured in, so we still can not determine who touched Lena's computer.
"Mr. Raphael, I'm wondering if there's some misunderstanding in this matter. It's possible that Miss Lena didn't find her papers, or that she got confused." Taylor said tentatively.
"Mr. Taylor, I'm pretty sure I've got the forms done." Lena sounded a little anxious.
At this time, Debbie sneered.
I had been watching Debbie's reaction since just now, and at first, Debbie's expression became flustered when she heard that she could check the surveillance. However, when Debbie knew that the surveillance did not capture what we wanted, Debbie was relieved again.
I think this already tells us something, except that it doesn't serve as evidence.
"Lena, it's not the first time you've had a problem at work, and I think I've given you a chance." Debbie continued.
When Lena tried to say something more, I interrupted her.
"Is this work urgent?" I asked.
"Today is the last day."
I looked to Debbie: "Hand over all the rest of the work to Lena."
"What?" Debbie looked at me with a surprised look on her face.
She did not expect this outcome at all.
Lena, in turn, was quick to respond, and she looked at me and nodded.
I turned my head and looked back at Lena: "Can you do the rest of the work yourself?"
"I have no problem with that, I'll be able to get the whole thing done in one day today." Lena sounded very motivated.
"But, Mr. Raphael, that's my assignment, and Lena won't necessarily do these very well the first time she does them," Debbie explained in a panic, she seemed to want me to change my story, and that was not an easy thing to do.
"I know." I looked coldly at Debbie, my gaze already full of warning.
I think I've been reminded enough of the obvious.
Lena looks worried about what's next, too.
So, I continued, "Bring your notebook and come to my office, Lena."
Now it was Lena's turn to stare at her own eyes in shock.
"Does anyone else have any questions?"
They won't have any other problems.
Lena pushed the door open and walked in.
She just came in and the tension that had been building completely relaxed as Lena walked over to me and put her laptop on the table, then she sat down in the chair across from me.
"God! I don't know how it happened, but I'm done with all that work."
"I know you're not lying."
"And I know you, believe me, Rafael, but why would they do that?"
Lena rubbed her head with some annoyance.
I put down the work I was doing and looked up at Lena, my tone becoming serious: "I'm sorry, Lena, I think it might be my presence that's causing you some trouble."
"What are you babbling about?" Lena didn't look like she believed what I was saying, she looked at me with a skeptical look on her face and couldn't help but laugh.
I narrowed my eyes and looked Lena up and down.
Lena has indeed changed a lot, she no longer faces me with a nervous attitude as before, to the point where she can already joke with me.
Lena sensed the change in my feelings, so she quickly put away her smile.
"I thought you weren't going to let me into your office." Lena changed the subject.
"In a little while, you'll be able to come back." I gave her a stepping stone.
"I had a pretty good time there." Lena shrugged.
"I know you can be anywhere, but, I'm not comfortable with you."
I didn't feel comfortable with Lena. After all, if Lena stayed away from me, there was a good chance she would be targeted by other people.
Everyone else except William, who understood that Lena was my weakness.
I don't want anything to happen to Lena.
When I looked at Lena, Lena was also looking at me. There was something strange about her gaze, and I didn't react for a moment to what that meant.
Of course, these no longer matter.
Lena withdrew her gaze, "Well then, Rafael, you asked me to come to your office so I could watch you work?"
"You can join me and come directly to me if you have any questions."
"Okay."
What followed was a long silence.
But after I finished all the work I had on my hands. I looked over to Lena. She was calm and worked very seriously.
However, I soon realized that Lena seemed to be in some kind of trouble. I walked up to her and she subconsciously ducked, then I reached out, gently put my hand on her shoulder, and pushed her back into her seat.
When exactly will Lena get used to my proximity?
"Relax, I'm just here to see how far you've gotten with your work."
"Although we've known each other for a long time, you're still my boss after all, and this is my physical reaction," Lena said with me in a joking tone.
I hooked the corners of my lips, but soon, I put my smile away: "Very well, then shouldn't you listen to your boss properly."
"Except for some matters of principle," Lena added stiffly.
It wouldn't I didn't think particularly much about it, but what Lena said suddenly made my heart think otherwise. My hands are still on Lena's shoulders, and at this time, Lena's body suddenly has a mysterious attraction to me.
Lena is thin, but her lines are very beautiful, and her exposed neck is much whiter.
I didn't say anything, my palm moved slowly and then touched Lena's neck.
"Rafael!" Lena shouted out nervously, her body becoming tense.
But I ignored Lena's shouts.
I raised one eyebrow, bent down slightly, and then kissed the back of Lena's neck.
Lena tried to break free, but I didn't give her that chance.
I grabbed Lena's wrist and then gently held it down on the table.
She was lying on the table, her whole back exposed to my world.
Lena was trembling badly, but, still, her emotions did not get out of control.
I know some things may not have met the conditions.
My lips pressed against the back of Lena's neck. I coveted her taste, and likewise, I coveted her body.
But from the beginning my eyes were clear, and I did not lose my mind.
I simply want to verify something.
Of course, I hadn't touched Lena like that in a long time.
"Raphael, aren't you here to help me finish the job? Hurry up and let me go." Lena was already a little angry, but I wasn't listening to her.
I bent down close to Lena's ear.
Then, I lowered my voice and spoke cruelly in a gentle tone: "Lena, what exactly did you see that day when you first came to my office?"
Lena suddenly gave up the struggle.
