Chapter 29 Rafael's suspicions
(Rafael's POV)
I took a deep breath as Lena lay in the hospital bed, and then I saw the doctor walkout.
My heart lifted.
The doctor looked at me with a very serious gaze. God, I admit my heart skipped a beat hard after seeing the doctor's eyes.
I don't want to lose Lena, and even though so much has happened between us that seems irrevocable, I love her.
The doctor came up to me, he pushed his glasses, then looked at me and said, "The patient has some slight fever, the problem is not very serious, followed by a tear in the lower body, I understand that young people have energy, but, they can't be unrestrained at all."
I felt my words stuck in my throat, and for a moment, embarrassment surrounded me.
When I tried to open my mouth to explain, the doctor interrupted me again: "The play is quite rich, better learn more about it before trying, I have seen a lot of cases like this, but it seems that you are still more measured, pay attention next time."
I nodded and the doctor looked at me and shook his head, then turned another page of the report sheet, "And, Mr. Raphael, I think there's one thing that might be a little more important."
My heart tensed up again and I looked at the doctor and seemed to be on the verge of forgetting how to even breathe.
"She's pregnant."
My brain didn't know what to think for a moment. I looked at the doctor, who didn't seem to be paying attention to my state.
"It's been a month, thank God, and the fetus was not harmed, but it's important to exercise more moderation and not to indulge too much in the future."
I nodded gently, but my heart was already in turmoil.
I never thought that Lena would be pregnant.
From the beginning, I never wanted to be in the situation I am in today. I hoped that Lena could pay the right price for what she once did. But instead, I fell in love with her all over again. My plans were all messed up, Lena was like an accident, and to my surprise, she was pregnant at this time.
I took a deep breath and pushed the door open and walked into the hospital room. Lena was lying in a hospital bed, her face was very pale and looked a bit like she was malnourished.
I have mixed emotions.
I love her, there is no doubt about it. But at the same time, I also blame her for betraying me in the first place, for choosing William over me, and for being in trouble with him until now.
There are just too many things that have happened recently.
Guilt and remorse flooded me anew. Perhaps, when I did not bring Lena back, all this would not have happened and I would not be in such pain as I am now.
I arranged for the best caregivers and then drove off to meet Ryan alone.
When Ryan saw me, he was shocked. He said he had never seen me look like that before, except when he learned about Lena's betrayal of me three years ago.
"Dude, you're not right, we haven't been out drinking in a long time, and besides, didn't you just get married?" Ryan looked worried about me.
I think I can already imagine how ugly my face is.
"Do I look like I'm in bad shape?" I asked him this.
"Good, not very bad, at least it looks a little better than those who haven't slept for two days, tell me about it, what happened to you." Ryan was still like he used to be before, he hadn't changed a thing.
Then, I told him everything that had happened recently.
(Ryan's POV)
When I first heard that Rafael was marrying Lena, my reaction was that the man must be joking with me, but April Fool's Day had passed.
To be honest, I didn't know what kind of face to put on.
Mocking? That's not possible, Rafael would probably just screw up my bar if he knew I was mocking him. Blessing? Don't be ridiculous, I would never bless a man who is getting married, he would lose a lot of freedom, love is wonderful, but marriage is a grave, a disaster, whatever you want to call it.
I outright refused to attend his wedding.
He did not ask me why, anyway, we have a very tacit understanding between us, of course, if he asked me why I would have already had my reasons ready.
Because I have recently regained my eyes on a woman with a great body, good looks, and most of all, can be bought with money.
Of course, I didn't get a chance to say those words out loud.
After Rafael got married, some words came to me.
I didn't care. I'm not one to pay attention to other people's gossip, but once I heard the person in question tell me about it and it made absolutely no difference, I didn't know what to say.
"To be honest, Rafael, I think I still sympathize with you getting married."
After hearing what I said, Rafael glared at me.
"But some things, are you sure they're just necessarily true?"
Rafael looked at me, he did not speak.
"You know, once I heard that many women could be bought with money, but, as it turned out, I couldn't, they told me to get lost, of course, it could be that I gave too little money, but, Raphael-"
I saw Raphael's gaze grow colder and colder, and before he got completely mad, I said what I wanted to say, "Are you sure what you think is right?"
Rafael averted his gaze.
I don't know what he thinks, but, as I know him if Rafael believed in something, then he would have contradicted me by now.
He doesn't give people the opportunity to question him.
"Rafael, I know it's impossible to forget your first love for you, so why not ask her now if you didn't have the chance to ask in the first place? There could be a lot of misunderstandings between you, and if she dares to lie to you now, I think you should be able to see it very easily."
Rafael suddenly said, "In fact, I had some feeling that something was wrong a long time ago."
I nodded my head.
God always likes to create a little accidents and make the relationship between people very complicated.
Although this is also very interesting for others to watch, if this person is not Raphael, I do not care about these things.
"Is there anything I can do to help you?"
The way Rafael looked at me made me instantly regret it.
"I don't mind if there's nothing I can do for you."
"I know, you and William must have a pretty good relationship." What Rafael wanted to do, I had guessed.
"You know, he always orders the most expensive wine when he comes to my place, it's business, there's no way I won't do it."
"Do me a favor, Ryan, I can give you more."
It is impossible not to do business.
I smiled at Rafael, "Deal."
(Landon's POV)
I had thought that Mr. Raphael would not come back to the office during this time, so I did not hide my surprise when I saw him.
"Good morning, Mr. Rafael." I put my coffee next to him, Mr. Raphael was not in a very good state and he did not ask me any questions about my work.
I gave him a full report of my recent work.
"Landon, how long have you been with the company?"
"Five years, Mr. Rafael."
I was a little surprised by his question. As far as I know, Mr. Rafael is not a nostalgic person. I've never seen him show this look before.
Although I have been working in the company for five years, I have followed Mr. Raphael for only two years. I had the opportunity to work beside Mr. Raphael two years ago when the previous president turned over all the company's affairs to Mr. Raphael.
"Did you check out what you were asked to check out earlier?"
I suddenly remembered this matter and then forwarded the entire document to him.
"Sir, I have found out the entire track of Miss Brown's journey about three years ago, however, most of it has nothing to do with what you want to know, however, there was a time when I found out that she had met with your father a few times."
Mr. Raphael drew his eyes back from the paper, and then he looked at me.
"They've always had dealings with each other, and there's a lot of partnership between the Brown Group and the Hill Group, and Rachel, as one of his father's successors, it's normal for her to have dealings with my father, tell me the point."
I have always admired Miss Brown very much. For a long time, I thought that Mr. Raphael would marry Miss Brown, but the truth is that I did not anticipate it.
Although, I also think Miss Lester is very good - should be called Mrs. now, but, they will end up together, I still did not expect.
I knew I shouldn't hide anything: "Mr. Raphael, all the meetings between them were private, and there shouldn't be anything about business cooperation."
I saw Mr. Raphael's brow furrowed, and he didn't say anything.
I continued, "Mr. Raphael, I think there is one thing that you should be aware of, Miss Brown's alma mater and Madame's school are the same, is it possible that they knew each other before, or-"
"I know, get to the point."
"You asked me to investigate the source of the video before, and after I compared it, I found that some scenes in the video were somewhat similar to certain places, and although it was a little difficult to investigate, I still found someone who was related to it."
Mr. Raphael took the photo in my hand, his face looked hard: "Can the people in this be contacted?"
The photo I gave him was a photo of the party, and the background in the middle of the photo was very similar to the background in the video. Although such a thing could very well be a coincidence, Miss Brown was the star of the party.
I knew that I shouldn't just make a guess, but as I continued to investigate, I found more fishy things.
"Can't be reached, Mr. Raphael, many of the people at the party were foreign students, this photo is three years old, most of them have returned to their home countries and the information can no longer be traced, only the only girl stayed here, but-"
"But?"
"Her information has been altered."
