Chapter 74 The Lost Form
(Lena's POV)
Without Rafael by my side, all of my life has become a little difficult.
I didn't know why Sofina hated me like that.
I don't know why there are so many rumors around me.
But I understand that all of this has to do with myself five years ago.
Jerry was the only one who would listen to me tell the truth.
"Lena, I'll help you keep your secret."
I was grateful to him, he did help me a lot. But I also know very well that I should keep my distance from him.
Jerry's feelings for me have me a little worried as well.
I've only met William once, and his presence didn't make my life any better. And Raphael, I feel as if I haven't seen him in a long time.
Because of his work, Rafael would often come home late and need to leave early the next day.
I can't stand the thoughts inside myself, although, I don't want to admit such things.
On this day, I came to the office as usual. As I walked into the office area, Debbie, who was walking in front of me, bumped me hard on the shoulder.
"I'm sorry." I was knocked back a few steps by the other man.
She didn't mean to apologize, instead, she looked at me with a very condescending gaze: "Lena, I think you should turn in your assignment quickly, if you don't, there's no way for me to proceed with my next step."
"Sorry, I'll get those forms to you today."
Debbie shot me a look, and the look in her eyes made me very uncomfortable.
"Honestly, honey, I think I still need to remind you of a few things."
I looked at Debbie and didn't say anything.
Debbie came over to me, she reached out and pushed my shoulder, then sighed: "Just do your thing and don't think about anything else, if you do have some not-so-good ideas. I think I'll just rip your mouth off."
"I don't understand what you're talking about."
I don't understand that anyone who is threatened doesn't know why the other person is doing what they are doing, and that includes me.
But, without saying anything else, she just turned around and left the place.
I sighed and did not continue to linger there, but quickly just went back to my seat and then began to carry out the day's work.
This life is very boring, but fortunately, I can still keep going, those tasks are also very tedious, but with the help of Jerry, I have become more and more smooth when dealing with these things.
A few hours later, I had finished all my tasks. Then I went to lunch, as usual, I took a short break and soon returned to my work.
At this time, Debbie came over, she still looked the same, and when she looked at me, her gaze was not friendly.
"Is it done?"
"I'm sending it to you now."
Debbie nodded and went back.
I don't know why Debbie is targeting me like this, and it probably has something to do with the rumors.
However, these are not things that I need to be concerned about right now.
However, when I opened my document, my heart lifted hard.
My breath became short and my forehead broke into a cold sweat for a moment, but I didn't believe it.
I took a deep breath, closed that document, and reopened it once more.
Still empty.
Yes, blank, but to the point where there should be something inside.
Inside the document should be a form that I had made, which was only a few hours apart.
And now I can't find it.
I couldn't believe that this could have happened.
"Lena! What the hell are you doing?!" Debbie's angry voice came through.
I blinked in some panic and then I opened the recycle bin on my computer, which also had nothing in it.
Of course, that's one of the strangest things.
I didn't realize until now that my computer might have been touched by someone else.
"I'm sorry!" I could hear how nervous I sounded.
Debbie came over to me, she looked as if she was even angrier than she had been earlier, she had an expression like she wanted to eat me straight up.
"Why haven't you sent me the form yet? Do you want to get your pay docked?"
At this time, in the face of her questioning, I instead calmed down.
"I know you're anxious, Debbie, but there's something very serious going on right now. I don't know who has tampered with my computer, and someone has deleted all the forms I just made."
However, after Debbie heard me say these words, she gave me a very cold look.
"If that's true, then you should be held responsible for that as well." Debbie's tone was very bad, and her voice was loud, which drew the others to her.
"You should think about why you're the only one whose files have been deleted by others."
For a moment, I didn't know what to say, I could only open my own eyes and look at Debbie in disbelief.
I am the victim in this matter, why do you make me look like I am guilty instead?
"Debbie, it's happened."
Jerry tried to stop her from continuing to say something to me.
"Debbie, calm down." Sofina came over and he reached out and took Debbie's arm, "If the work doesn't get done on time, then this has nothing to do with you."
Sofina gave me a look.
I know exactly what Safina means.
If this matter has nothing to do with Debbie, that means it is all my responsibility.
I knew that I really shouldn't have left my computer on and gotten out of there, but I also didn't think that someone would come and touch my computer.
"That's for sure, but I thought I'd teach her a lesson."
Debbie didn't leave.
Debbie looked over at me and she narrowed her own eyes: "I know, Lena, that a lot of work you can't do very well. I'm just reminding you that if you're still in this state in the future, then I'm afraid it won't be as simple as just docking some pay."
"I know you're in a hurry right now, Debbie."
"Of course I'm anxious, come with me to see the manager now, Lena."
My face began to look ugly, if I see the manager now, then there is a good chance that this matter can not be undone.
"You just give me some more time, okay? I'll get this all taken care of, and I won't let you finish what you started."
"I only have three hours left now, and if you can't give it to me now, then there's no way I'll be able to finish my work in three hours." Debbie's tone was firm.
"Now, come with me right now!"
At this moment, I suddenly heeded what it means to be helpless.
I looked at the people in front of me and they all seemed to want to help me, but none of them spoke up.
A long time ago, I did not know the feeling either.
Once I started working in Paris and my grades got better and better, no one dared to give me such a hard time in front of me.
I took a breath, the situation was different than before and I didn't know how I should argue.
So, I had to choose to stand up.
At this moment, all eyes fell on me, and all of them were looking at my joke.
My body had begun to shake uncontrollably while Debbie looked at me with a smug expression.
"Lena!" Jerry tried to stop me from doing that.
I shook my head and said nothing, then I turned around and followed Debbie to the manager.
I was well prepared, even if I was resigned and lost my only job.
Of course, that's just how I comfort myself.
I just wish that I could get the truth for myself.
Who the hell touched my computer.
Debbie pushed the door open and we walked in together.
But when I walked in, my eyes widened in shock.
"Rafael?"
I couldn't resist saying his name.
Rafael gave me a look, and I realized I seemed to have lost my temper.
Then I quickly gathered up my shock.
Mr. Taylor asked why we were here.
Debbie replied, "Here's the thing, Mr. Taylor, I think you do need to give Lena some kind of punishment."
I peeked at Rafael's reaction as she recounted the whole thing.
Raphael didn't look at me, instead, he listened very carefully to Debbie's narrative.
This made my mood start to get anxious as well.
To be honest, I don't know what Rafael is trying to do right now.
Although Rafael still takes great care of me at home, we don't spend much time with each other during this time.
He had his business and I had my work, while we each had to take care of Jamie.
I was starting to get restless. It was at this point that Debbie finally finished the whole thing.
I took one last look at Raphael, but when I looked over at him, I realized that he had averted his gaze.
It's not that Rafael isn't looking at me, he's just sneaking a peek at me.
"So, Lena, is there anything you want to talk to me about?"
I withdrew my gaze and looked at Mr. Taylor.
"I do have something to say, Mr. Taylor, I didn't mean to not send the completed form to Debbie, but my form was deleted by someone else for some reason."
"That's just an excuse, it's your work efficiency that's not working, you just didn't get your work done within the allotted time, so you came up with this."
Debbie is at it again.
"Mr. Taylor, I strongly urge you to give Lena some warning-"
Snap--
Debbie's speech was suddenly interrupted.
Raphael heavily closed the folder he was holding, then he looked at Debbie: "Taylor, I think there's surveillance there, as I recall?"
"Yes, Mr. Raphael, if you need to check it out, I'm always available to help you arrange it."
"Then take a look at the surveillance."
Raphael spoke indifferently, and then, he gave me a look.
I understand what he means.
