Chapter 70 Lies and Truth
(Lena's POV)
When I tried to say something else, Rafael had already closed the door heavily. Landon looked at me and then said, "Madam, I've called the doctor for you, please wait a moment."
I nodded, and then, Landon left the place as well.
The environment suddenly became very quiet and I looked around, only to feel that although this place was familiar to me, I couldn't like it at all.
I felt as if I had been abandoned again, and with the door that Raphael had closed, there seemed to be a sudden additional barrier in front of us. I had no way to cross this barrier, and Raphael had no intention of helping me.
I felt lonely, and it was a really bad feeling.
I reached up and gently held my forehead, then I let out a sob.
When I calmed down, then I started to think back to what had just happened.
It was all so sudden that when I tried to think back, the suffocating feeling suddenly came over me again.
I lifted my head and took a deep breath.
Lena, you can't stay here, you should go to Rafael right away, now is the best chance, both William and Rafael, we can soon figure out the whole thing.
I made up my mind, then stood up and walked out without any hesitation.
However, I don't know exactly where Raphael went.
I did not know where I should look, it was just too big.
Just when I didn't know exactly what to do, a girl came up to me, and when she saw me, her eyes widened in shock.
Although I still didn't know what had happened between us, this was all too common. I quickly took a deep breath and then walked up to her.
I beat the girl to it before she could say anything: "It's been a long time, dear, have you just seen Raphael?"
I think I was probably so emotional that she was a little taken aback by me and didn't answer my question directly.
I knew I couldn't wait any longer, then, I spoke again, "I have something very important for Raphael now, and I'll wait for the rest until afterward, okay?"
The girl nodded dumbly, then she reached out her hand and pointed toward the other side of the hallway, then said, "I just saw Mr. Raphael go there, but I wouldn't know exactly which room he went into."
I nodded, thanked her, and then moved on.
The girl was still trying to say something to me, "Lena, wait."
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I know you're in a bit of a hurry, but Mr. Raphael seems very angry, and although I know your relationship, it's best if you wait a little while before you see him."
Of course, I know that Rafael is in a bad mood, but it looks like things aren't going well between Rafael and me.
I smiled at the girl and didn't say anything.
It was indeed a little difficult to find someone in so many houses, but God was willing to help me.
As I walked past a conference room, I heard a very intense sound coming from inside, and the sound was William's voice.
"-should explain to Lena exactly why she lied to her in the first place?"
What?
My brow furrowed and I dropped my hand that was trying to push the door open.
I stood outside the door, listening to the voices inside, my heart beating faster and faster.
They said a lot of things that I didn't understand, and although I was well aware that neither of them was innocent, it seemed that both of them felt they were doing me a favor.
It touched me.
It turns out that every single one of them was lying to me.
I am the only one who has been hurt.
I took a deep breath, and just at that moment, footsteps suddenly sounded behind me.
I jerked around and Landon looked startled by me. He asked me somewhat nervously why I was here, I didn't even care about his question, I just knew I had a problem now.
Landon's voice is too loud!
I tried to escape, and just after I turned around, the door to the conference room was pulled open.
I can even feel the flow of air.
Great, I'm screwed!
I tried to look as confident as possible, but, after I saw the look on Raphael's face, I still had an urge to run away.
Rafael's face seemed colder than it had been a moment ago, and he looked at me, narrowing his good-looking eyes dangerously: "My dear, can you explain to me why you're here? Don't use excuses like you just happened to be passing by."
I took a deep breath: "Ummm ....."
"It's really hard to explain." I gave an awkward laugh as Raphael seemed to close his eyes for a moment with a slight headache.
Just as I was about to say something further, William appeared behind Raphael.
Such a close look, in contrast, it is easy to find that they are very similar.
Why didn't I realize this problem before?
"Rafael, since Lena is here, I think there are some issues we can address directly."
"That's right, Raphael, I'm here to solve your problem." William's presence made me feel slightly more relaxed.
I wanted to push Raphael out of the way and walk inside the conference room, but I couldn't push Raphael at all.
I looked up at Rafael, who was looking down at me, without any expression on his face, but I was more afraid of Rafael like this than of him being angry.
"My God, Raphael, could you please not look at me like that?" I only looked at him briefly, and then, I darted my gaze back.
I know that I did nothing wrong, they deceived me first, and I have the right to know all the truth.
But now, Rafael was in front of me, and he looked at me with a very oppressive gaze.
I looked somewhat helplessly at William, who probably understood what I meant. William continued to walk forward, then he reached out his hand and tried to push Rafael away.
Raphael looked back at William, and by this time I finally knew that things seemed to be moving in a direction beyond my control.
Even if William was here, there was no way I could continue to ask him something.
"Wait, wait a minute! Okay, Rafael, I just heard it all. Are you two not going to say anything to me?"
I spoke with a lot of strength. Of course, this was because I fully understood that things had come to this point and that neither Raphael nor William had the means to continue to keep me under wraps.
I took a deep breath and tried to stabilize my emotions. Just then, Raphael suddenly spoke up and said, "Lena, I'll tell you all about it when we get home. For now, leave me the time, okay?"
I shook my head.
I felt some exasperation at Raphael's refusal.
"No, I'm sorry to refuse you like this, dear, and if I don't manage to hear the whole story from you and William here, then surely you'll continue to deceive me when we get home."
Raphael even somewhat desperately withdrew his gaze. Then he turned around and walked straight to the conference room.
William didn't say anything. When Rafael walked in, he gave me a look and followed suit.
I know that they did not deny my request.
I took a deep breath.
"William, I have to check with you first. Why did you take me away in the first place?"
The whole thing is ridiculous.
Also, the developments were a little out of my control.
But William didn't choose to answer me directly.
William looked at me. His eyes, which were the same as Raphael's, revealed a painful emotion inside. This made my heart suddenly twitch as well.
I know that even though I don't love William, I still consider him to be my best friend. On the contrary, he did not want to tell me the truth.
Although I don't know why I don't seem to be able to keep pressing the issue.
"Lena, I know I've been hiding a lot from you, but you should also ask Rafael why you left him, right?"
"Yes, that's for sure, William, but I need your answer now." My eyebrows had furrowed and when I looked at William, I no longer dared to look him in the eye.
"I can tell you the whole truth, because he hurt you, Lena."
"William, that's enough, if you don't want me to tell you about the emails too, then you should shut up now."
I heard Raphael's angry voice.
Although he was trying to suppress his anger, I could still feel that he now wanted to make a move on William.
And that pisses me off just as much.
I am the one who should know the truth the most, but it turns out that every one of them except me knows something I don't.
Oh, God! Is this still correct?
I interrupted Rafael: "Rafael, are you threatening William?"
Rafael looked at me, and there was no warmth inside his eyes.
"Lena, I'm lenient with you, but I will never, ever allow William to do something to hurt you." Raphael's tone softened, but that didn't make me happy.
I sneered.
"No, Rafael, you're just disguising yourself, you just don't want me to know the truth, you're afraid I'll leave you again, is that it?"
I couldn't resist questioning.
Raphael didn't look me in the eye, and he quickly averted his own eyes.
"William, please, tell me." My voice had begun to tremble.
Raphael didn't interrupt me, and he didn't try to say anything more to William. But when William looked at me, I had understood.
But I just want the damn truth.
