Chapter 43 Hypnosis

(Rafael's POV)
Bob wanted to say something to me, but, he just came here to look at me and didn't open his mouth, I understood that he wanted to comfort me.
I didn't need any reassurance; in fact, even I didn't know what I was supposed to do.
Lena must have hated me, that's why she left Jamie behind and left them alone. But I couldn't understand why we loved each other so much. But, she still can't forgive me for what I did, and I regret it, but it all seems too late.
At this time, Miller suddenly came over. She was holding the baby, and there was no way I could trust anyone other than entrusting the baby to her: "Mr. Raphael, Jamie is awake."
I glanced at Miller, then took a deep breath and turned my attention to the child.
Jamie looks more like his mother, he has the same purple eyes as Lena, and when I see him is, I have a sadness that I can't restrain. This sadness even gives me a headache.
Jamie was very different at birth, he rarely cried, but this was not normal.
The doctor told me that there was a good chance that Jamie would get sick, all of which was an afterthought.
Jamie looked at me and he suddenly opened his mouth and cried out loud. I wasn't angry or bored, but it was like my head had been smashed in.
Miller looked flustered and hugged Jamie away, "I'm so sorry, Mr. Rafael!"
However, I didn't hear what they said next.
I could only see Bob's mouth open, but there was no sound. My ears were all ringing in my ears, and my head felt like it was about to split open. Sweat had appeared on my cheeks and my face had begun to pale.
This is not right!
I had a lot of strange images in my head where Lena kept appearing and then flying away. I shook my head hard and tried to calm down, but, to no avail.
This time, right, Bob rushed over, and he suddenly tapped me on the shoulder, and the scenes receded like a tidal wave. My vision finally stopped blurring.
"Mr. Rafael, I think you need to rest."
I straightened up, "No, Bob, I have some things to do."
I have to go do these things.
I never thought about it, but my intuition told me that there must be something else about what happened three years ago that I was not aware of.
Lena's departure hit me so hard that I didn't even rest for a day and a night. Originally, I also thought my headache was due to a lack of rest, but now, I know why.
Lena didn't just leave in the first place, she came back to me once, but there was no way we would have missed each other if I was also looking for Lena at the time.
The huge blow threw me into grief, and during that time, I was in no mood to rest, until my own body was also screwed up. But this time, the same experience woke up the memories I once had completely, and I knew exactly what was wrong with that one.
When I arrived at my father's house, the butler on one side didn't seem to stop me in my tracks.
"Young master, Mr. Hill is waiting for you inside."
My father had already guessed that I would come.
"Father, I think this time, we should be able to figure everything out." I looked at my father sitting in front of me, who looked old enough to have wrinkles all over his face.
He didn't seem to want to argue with me, so I continued, "Father, I want to ask you what you did to me three years ago."
My hands had begun to tremble and I had to clench them tightly to stabilize myself.
My father, whom I once feared but respected, did despicable things to me. Until now, I never fully understood.
He stood up, put the tea down in his hand, and walked over to me. However, he did not stay in front of me, but walked around me and continued to walk forward.
I turned around and looked at him when he had walked to the other side of the room. He picked up the picture that was sitting on the table, a picture of me and my mother, just the two of us.
"I was angry when I secretly found out about you and Lena three years ago, but, knowing you, Rafael, you certainly wouldn't have listened to me if I had stopped you directly, would you?"
As he spoke, he turned to look at me.
"That's right, Father, so you used other methods, right?"
He gave a sudden laugh: "Parents' care for their children is always tinged with blindness, and so am I. Rafael, even if I am so formidable in the business world, I can't show this in front of you."
He suddenly sighed, and this time, he reached out and gently rubbed the photo.
"Rafael, I thought of other ways, like, for example, directly threatening you with the Hill Group's property, but I knew it was useless, and if you cared about that, you wouldn't have been with her at all. I was anxious, Rafael, and I was heartbroken, and God knows how tormented I was during that time."
For the first time, my father showed such an expression. He looked very vulnerable as if he was deeply hurt by his child.
He's so shrewd and has always been that way.
However, even when he showed me this look, I was not moved in any way.
I know what a hypocrite he is and that he has lied to many people, including me.
"Raphael, you're the only child I care about, do you understand?"
"So, Father, if what you say is true, you still hurt me." My tone was a little mean, but, I didn't regret doing so.
I saw him shake his head and give a very self-deprecating laugh, then, looking over at me, he continued, "Rafael, I like that girl at the Brown's, she's very smart and knows exactly what you need. When I first met her in private, I must admit that she would make a very good hostess."
It turns out that three years earlier, Rachel had already started to meddle in my affairs.
I held back my anger.
"Rachel said something to you."
"She told me that she had a way to make you give up that girl just without any pain, but of course, none of us expected that you would love her so much that even knowing that she 'betrayed' you, you still couldn't forget her existence." My father sighed, and with this look, it was as if he was expressing his disappointment in me.
I couldn't stand it and finally sneered out.
Rachel made that video, but, they knew I wouldn't believe it, so they had other ways.
"So, what exactly did you do to me to make my memories change?"
"Rachel asked me to contact a person, this person told me that he could help me hypnotize you so that you could behave, I spent a lot of money, Raphael, that's why, after that I rarely contacted Rachel, this girl is too smart, it scares me a little, but, fortunately, she also truly loves you, otherwise, you will also have a lot of trouble. "
It was only at this moment that I saw my father completely, he was more than just selfish and hypocritical.
I did have great respect for him at one time, but he continued to be seen by me for what he was. His narrow and indifferent soul made me laugh out loud.
But I didn't have any energy left to argue with him.
Because I know the whole truth, and that's the cruelest truth of all.
Three years ago, Lena was alone in a huge city looking for me, while I was firmly convinced that she had betrayed me. It was at the same time that I was used by my father, and I was so immersed in great grief that I completely forgot to look for the truth.
Perhaps, just for a moment, with a little more attention, I could have found Lena.
But, I didn't.
I left Lena in that city, in that Christmas three years ago, and all this time, I was the one who was sorry.
My body began to shake, the truth is always cruel, but what makes me sadder is that Lena never tried to ask for anything from me. She has given so much to me, but in the end, I still haven't repaid her anything.
"Rafael, I heard, she has left."
I looked over at my father, who still had a smile on his face, and that smile made me a little sick.
"Yes, Father, Lena has left, your purpose has been achieved, what more do you want to do?"
His smile had deepened, "Rafael, did she leave a child behind?"
I sneered.
"Father, I know what you are trying to do, I will not marry again, much less give this child away to become a second poor William, the mistakes you have made, I will not let them happen again."
He opened his mouth and his smile finally disappeared: "Raphael, I know that you are not able to understand me right now, but you just have to do what I say now, and someday in the future, you will be very grateful to me."
I looked over at him, my gaze had turned cold and I was happy to see some anger in his eyes as well, then I gave a very hearty laugh, "Father, no, the last Hill president, you were so hopeful that I could be your successor you have succeeded."
I could see his face had begun to tighten.
"You tried to control me through the Hill Group, and you had the right idea, but now, you have missed the best time. Listen, father, if you don't want your old age to be too miserable, finally and quickly transfer the remaining ten percent of your shares to me. Of course, you can also refuse me, but I guarantee that you will regret not listening to me today."
"Raphael, your wings are not as strong as you think they are-"
"Is that so? Then let's try it, starting with you, my father."
All those who have gotten in my way will pay the price.
