Chapter 54 Kissing

(Rafael's POV)
I know myself well enough that one day I will not be able to control my emotions. However, I am willing to give Lena more time and I don't want to hurt her. I love to see her smile from the heart, even if they have nothing to do with me.
I love her even more.
She has become different, and as if she has not changed at all. Perhaps this is her most original appearance, what once happened, perhaps still hurt her, so that she had to choose to forget to comfort herself.
The Hill Group's affairs are getting more and more involved, and I don't regret these days for the shoelaces of work, because accompanying Lena is what I want to do most, if not for the fact that there's no way to keep putting it off because of the company.
The day was over and I chose to leave work early.
I suddenly had a sense of peace, as if I had suddenly found ordinariness, what ordinariness is, and at that moment, I had comprehended it.
Pushing open the door to my home, I saw Lena standing there, and she said something that seemed to take quite some time before I finally took its meaning into account.
I watched as Lena turned around, her face still a little flustered. She looked at me with an awkward smile on her face.
"Why are you back so early today."
"Because work is not very busy."
I put my briefcase down and walked over to her.
I was moving at a fast pace, which could be a little intimidating. Because Lena kept backing up, she looked even more nervous.
Until she didn't have any retreat, I moved closer to her. Carefully, I used almost all my strength to suppress my urge to want to just take her into my arms.
"Jamie is sleeping, I'll go see if he's awake." Lena finished and was about to run upstairs.
To be honest, I didn't want to give her that chance.
I held out my hand and blocked her way. By this time, Lena's ears were getting ripe, and her cheeks were flushed, but Lena still had a stern face: "Rafi eh, if Jamie wakes up and doesn't see me yet, he'll cry out."
I knew that this was Lena's excuse.
She didn't know Jamie as well as I did, even though she was his mother, and even though there was a connection between them, I was the one who knew Jamie best.
I stepped forward again and blocked Lena completely. Her back was already against the wall, and she reached out to try to push me away.
But her strength is so small that these movements don't threaten me at all.
I lowered my head and gently kissed her hair, the fragrance ran up my nose and smelled very sweet.
I slowly closed my eyes.
I coveted the taste, I was obsessed with Lena. I have been fantasizing about this scene for five years. Every day, I wish I could see Lena and get her back.
I searched for five years and finally found her.
Lena was no longer afraid to move, and I could feel her breathing getting harder and harder.
I reached out and stroked her cheek, reassuring her with a gentle tone, "Don't be nervous, honey."
Lena no longer dared to look at me, she closed her eyes and did not move.
I knew that this was a good opportunity for me to kiss her.
I gently ruffled away the hair that was blocking her cheeks and looked at her bare white face, and my head dropped even lower.
I could already feel her breathing, Lena was shivering slightly, but, she didn't reject me.
Lena's soft lips were right in front of mine, and I had been pining for them for five years.
"Oooh-"
At this time, the accident happened, from upstairs suddenly came out a cry.
Before I could react, Lena's eyes snapped open and she looked at me, and, not knowing where the strength came from, she pushed me away directly.
By the time I stood firm, Lena had rushed up the stairs.
I can still hear the curses coming out of her mouth.
I reached out and touched my chin, and my brow furrowed.
Just give me some more time and I can kiss it.
But why did Jamie change? He didn't cry before.
I didn't have much time to think about it, and soon, I followed Lena up. When I pushed open the door, Lena had already begun to comfort Jamie, who was still crying.
My God, I can't believe I'm blaming Jamie's existence again.
Lena was holding Jamie, her gaze gentle, and she was humming softly under her breath as I walked over and sat watching them.
Lena glanced at me, and now the blush on her cheeks had completely disappeared, but it had turned a heartwarming pink.
"Is Jamie hungry?" Lena suddenly asked.
Jamie can't speak because of his condition, but he can still understand people, although he may not pay attention to them.
After hearing Lena's question, Jamie nodded.
"Damn, Miller's not back yet."
I stood up and held out my hand to hug Jamie.
However, Jamie held Lena tighter.
I pulled my hands back and sighed, "Well, I'll go find him something edible to eat."
Lena suddenly laughed, and if I had not seen the words of laughter on her face, I might have suspected that I had heard wrong.
"I'm coming with you, Rafael."
Things have come to this, although I don't understand exactly why it's happening. However, there was nothing to eat in the fridge except some milk, and Miller still hadn't returned.
With Lena's persuasion, Jamie finally relented and got off of her.
"Only milk? Well then, heat the milk, and I think Miller should be back soon."
I wanted to help, but I didn't seem to be very skilled at this sort of thing. Lena even though I was a little in the way.
She can always make me sad.
I stood next to her with Jamie and watched her boil the milk.
Lena gave me a look, "Can you stop looking at me like that, Rafael? Even if it's only milk, I'm only cooking it for Jamie alone."
I nodded, "I just want to be here to watch you."
Lena shrugged her shoulders and said nothing more. When she finally got the milk cooking, Miller returned.
"Good afternoon, madam, sir, and the young master."
I knew that the sight of us standing together was something that none of the Millers were used to.
Lena looked like she saw hope, she couldn't help but give Miller a hug: "Thank God you're finally back, Miller, Jamie is a little hungry right now, but we didn't find any food."
Miller smiled at Lena, "Leave it to me, ma'am."
After dinner, I felt relaxed for the first time. There was no extra work today, and no impromptu overtime. Lena was sitting on the carpet playing with Jamie with his toys. However, Jamie wasn't very interested in the toys, he preferred Lena.
"Lena, have you been to Paris before?"
Lena shoved the toy car into Jamie's hand, "Yes, I lived in Paris for five years and came to America because of my job."
"Only yourself?"
Lena blinked, then, she turned her head to look at me, "What do you think? But I have friends I know, it's just that I live alone, or at least for now I do."
I know that Lena doesn't want to talk about this with me.
However, I was still curious about her experiences in the past five years and, most importantly, I had to find out what exactly had been stopping me from finding Lena.
She would not live alone in France without any reason.
"How have you been?"
I was worried about hearing some not-so-good news, but Lena didn't seem to show a sad expression.
"Actually, Rafael, I think you should know very well that if a person suddenly goes to an unfamiliar environment, then he will certainly not have a good time, but I'm used to it and it's not a bad life now."
I looked at Lena and narrowed my eyes, "Are you going back?"
Lena gave a laugh, and instead of answering my question right away, she continued to tease Jamie with her toys, and Jamie even started laughing.
I waited patiently for a while and finally waited for Lena's answer, "My job is still over there, and although I won't be going back for a while, I won't stay in the U.S. forever."
Before I could say something, hearing these words Jamie suddenly burst into tears.
"No! Don't go!"
I watched as Lena instantly tensed up, and she immediately waved her hand and said to Jamie, "Okay, baby, I'm not leaving, I'm not going anywhere."
It had nothing to do with me, but Lena still gave me a hard stare.
I spread my hands, "Actually, you can keep looking for a job in America."
"I'm just loving my job right now," Lena replied stiffly.
"You know, you used to work for the Hill Group," I said softly.
After hearing what I said, Lena's body stiffened for a moment, but, soon she returned to normal.
"So? Rafael, you're not trying to poach me, are you?"
"Pretty much, I know you're good, Lena, and I can pay you a higher salary if you want."
Lena looked over at me and she smiled playfully like a deer in the headlights, "Let me think about it."
My heart couldn't help but empty a beat, I once again thought about the unfinished kiss just now and surprisingly felt a little thirsty.
I walked over to them and then sat down as well. This way I could look at them more closely.
Lena didn't object to my approach.
"You can also make some requests and I'll do my best to do it all."
"Well, Rafael, let's not discuss this in front of the children."
Lena accidentally pushed Jamie's toy car far away, Jamie climbed up and ran to catch up with the toy car.
I looked at Lena and she was laughing so hard.
Lena suddenly turned her head to look at me, her smile had faded, while I was still approaching her, I could not control myself.
I finally did what I wanted to do.
Even though I only lightly touched her lips for a second, I was still happy.
"Welcome home, Lena."
