Chapter 20 Calculation
(Lena's POV)
I shook my head and flashed a smile at Ava, "Why do you ask?"
"I think you might think of me and Rachel as the same kind of person."
Indeed, she's not wrong to say that, but I'm not going to relax just because she's trying to skewer me with this kind of talk.
"And I'm not afraid of her."
Ava looked at me and gave a laugh, "Don't be nervous, Lena, seriously, a few of us were captured by Rachel, otherwise, I wouldn't have made it this far to get here."
"Aren't you guys doing this for work?"
Ava seemed very surprised by my statement: "Work? What work? I simply came here to relax."
"I thought you guys were here because of some work."
"It must be Rachel, she told me she had to go, so it seems like it will probably be a work thing."
I nodded and didn't say anything.
"Is Mr. Hill also because of work?"
Being asked by Ava like this, I didn't know how I should answer.
What should I say?
We were here on our honeymoon, and he and I just had to work by the way.
That sounds so ridiculous.
I can only choose to omit one: "Yes, he is also for work, only so far it has not started, I do not know when, when his secretary arrives, it should be soon."
Ava nodded, she was about to say something else, but then her phone rang, "Hello? Uh-huh, we're already at the hotel, Lena doesn't seem to be doing anything, maybe she got caught in the sun, come on, we just got up here."
I looked at Ava with a distressed look on her face.
"Well, then, I'll ask her, and if she doesn't want to go down there, I'll come over in a minute."
Ava hung up the phone and then, she looked over at me, "Lena, want to go down and play volleyball with them?"
"I-"
"Let's go together! It's okay, everyone's here, I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to have fun if you were missing."
Ava doesn't feel anything like Rachel to me.
She took my hand and started begging, seemingly genuinely not wanting to leave me behind.
Because I didn't have any discomfort in the first place, I agreed to do so after a few more persuasive words from Ava.
I could see them from a great distance, Rafael's stance was particularly remarkable, he was the tallest of them all, and I bet you couldn't find one taller than him on the whole beach.
In fact, from here on, I found a lot of girls were interested in him. Of course, their interest-only stopped at curiosity, whether it was because I was always by his side or Raphael's face was just too cold, none of the girls dared to come up and ask for contact information.
Of course, I have never met one who dared to come over to me and ask for my contact information.
Maybe God heard my thoughts.
In this part of our walk over, Ava first let go of my hand and ran towards them, I in turn was not slow, this time, suddenly someone came up to my side.
I turned my head to look over, this man had a pair of good-looking green eyes, and his hair was dyed blonde, probably because of a few days on the beach in the sun, the skin was tanned to wheat skin tone, looks so good.
"Hey, beautiful, are you alone?"
I laughed softly and pointed him to Rafael in the distance, "No, we're together."
Who knew that the man was not even a little bit ruffled, he looked in the direction of my finger and waved his hand directly, and what made me embarrassed was still happening, I saw that Rafael also looked up to gesture.
I looked to the man next to me in horror and he playfully winked at me, "Obviously we're in this together, my name is Ralph."
"Lena, Lena Lester."
After we walked past, Rafael pulled me to his side, to which Ralph just gave a loud whistle.
In the conversation that followed, I learned that Ralph was the person Raphael wanted to work with. And there was bound to be no involvement of mine in this.
What I found even more incredible was that Ava and I got to know each other very well.
And I likewise found that she and Rachel didn't seem to be as close as I thought they would be.
It was our tenth day here and Rafael was not able to join the party because he had to discuss work issues, so this party became our party.
Ava handed the glass to me, in fact, because of something that had happened, I seemed to have had a fear of wine for a long time.
But the party atmosphere was high, and I didn't want to spoil it.
When Ava passed the glass to me again and again, I simply could not refuse.
"Are you guys still drinking?" Rachel came in at this time, the party she had joined on short notice, and surprisingly the first thing she did when she arrived was to raise her glass to me.
I admit, Rachel the girl looks very beautiful, I initially thought she would be very arrogant like most rich girls, contact down the past few days, but then changed my perception of her.
"Lena, did Rafael say anything to you about when you guys were going back?" I heard Rachel ask me this.
"He should be back by the time he's done with the business. There's still a lot going on in the company. What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just curious to ask, a few of us are going to plan to play longer anyway."
I laughed softly and didn't think much of it.
After a few more small talks with the crowd, my head was already spinning.
As a result, there was already some nausea in my stomach, and as I got up to go to the bathroom, Rachel suddenly took my hand, "What's wrong with you? Where are you going?"
"I'm going to the bathroom for a bit, some-" I gestured at her twice, but she didn't release me.
"You're not drunk, are you?"
Even I do not know whether I am drunk or not, just some urge to vomit, after being asked by her like this, surprisingly this feeling are gone.
"Are you still going?"
I shook my head and did it again.
How much I drank during this period, even I have lost count. I only know that at the end in just realized that I was drunk, however, at this time, my brain is already a muddle, nothing can be distinguished.
I faintly heard Ava call my name in my ear, and then watched as Rachel pulled someone shakily - my eyesight - out.
At this time, I felt someone tugging on my arm.
I'm a sensitive person by nature and don't like people touching my body too much.
The second time someone pulled on my arm, I realized that someone was indeed touching me.
"Don't ......"
Don't touch me!
My vision cleared for a moment, and because of the drunkenness, even my head hurt so violently that when I tried to stand up, I fell back heavily onto the table because my arms were unable to support my body.
I was pounced on and held down, and I knew exactly what this man wanted to do to me, but I simply did not have the strength in my arms and legs to push this man away.
Fear spread through my heart and I couldn't help but whimper out, but that seemed to make the man's behavior even rougher.
As I looked around feebly, trying to find someone, I saw the figure standing next to the door.
That person I know, that person I do know, who the hell is it?
"Ava ...... Help me ....."
The words came out of my mouth before my brain could react, but Ava didn't move.
I watched as she stood motionless in front of me, then slowly picked up her phone and pointed it at my face.
At that moment, I understood everything.
The feeling of being betrayed turns out to be like this, but perhaps, there is no betrayal to speak of between us, because from the beginning, this might be their plot.
The conspiracy that pushed me to the bottom.
I felt hot tears cross my cheeks, and my heart, tormented by grief and anger, was about to kill me. I no longer had the strength to think about it, and the only thing I wanted to do was to push the person on top of me away.
But his strength is just too much.
I was almost at the mercy of my opponent, allowing myself to be spread flat and turned over, while the clothes on my body were not even able to stop anyone from violating me.
At that moment, my heart thought of death for a moment.
I struggled with my body and tried to get the bottle over from the side, but it was not far enough.
The room was full of alcohol, and I felt like I was probably soaked inside and out in the wine, or I couldn't have been drunk like this.
At this time, I barely moved my body and finally reached the bottle when the man put his stinking mouth on it.
But I didn't have the strength to take this and smash it at my opponent, so I chose a different approach.
The empty bottle was smashed hard to the ground by me, the sound of breaking glass in a moment made me sober up, I almost used up all my strength, regardless of whether my body was cut by those glass fragments, and finally, still insisted on getting a piece.
Only the pain can keep me awake for a while.
I shuddered and cut into the man with the piece of glass, and he screamed and rolled away.
My eyes swept over the bloody mess on my hands, and then, looking up at Ava who was shaking her head frantically at me.
This feeling is not unfamiliar, I have long felt it, only, even if it has been a lot of injuries, in the end, will still trust a person who has only known a few days.
I took the piece of glass and slashed it hard into my thigh, the pain of the skin tearing numbed my drunkenness, my eyes widened, the tears were completely out of control because of the pain, and I screamed uncontrollably.
Lena, you can't just pass out like that.
I closed my eyes and began to suck in cold air because of the pain, and as I tried to paddle myself a second time, my wrist was suddenly grabbed.
I looked back over at Raphael's familiar face, his anxiety was too real, but all I could see was him shouting something urgently.
I couldn't hear, I couldn't hear anything, and as I tried to call out his name, I realized that my throat seemed to be on the verge of burning up.
I just watched him until I fell into the darkness myself.
