Chapter 102 The Lost House
(Allen's POV)
I have a hard time understanding the mindset of those people who don't seem to know what thinking is like at all.
Even though I had laid out my ideas in front of them, the pigheaded group would still do things the way they wanted.
Amazingly, Kairi would even try to blackmail me using a stupid reason like that.
If I were their teacher, I guarantee you that all of their final assignments would be F's.
Even though I had been cursing them internally for a long time, I still couldn't find an opportunity to vent.
Aunt Kate had just left the house and she needed to purchase some food and daily necessities, so I took the opportunity to get a good internet session and greet some of Kellie and her little followers affectionately.
I had to make them understand that I was not a bully.
However, halfway through this matter, I suddenly heard the sound of an open door coming from outside the door.
My heart almost jumped out of my chest.
I thought that Aunt Kate would not be back for at least another hour.
I didn't expect her to come back so early!
I didn't have much to think about anymore, my whole focus was on camouflaging the scene.
I can't let her know that I touched her computer.
Right after I did this on the fly, I realized something was wrong.
Because Aunt Kate hasn't opened the door and walked in until now.
My brow furrowed, this thing has become increasingly strange.
While I was hesitating if someone was outside and trying to break-in, the sound of unlocking the door finally stopped.
I quickly went to the window and looked outside, but the whole street was empty.
Today is indeed very unlucky.
I thought about the conversation I had just had with Kelly, and it was clear to me that just now I had suddenly disappeared, and Kelly must have felt that I was afraid of her.
I rolled my eyes, suppressed my anger, and turned on the computer again.
But I didn't expect the sound of unlocking the door to be over!
This time, I didn't turn off the computer because I wanted to see whose prank it was.
The moment I pushed open the door, I heard my Aunt Kate's screams, but standing in front of me was someone I had never seen before.
She seemed even more surprised than we were.
Aunt Kate soon came over, and at this time, I suddenly remembered that my computer hadn't been turned off.
As I was about to sneak away, Aunt Kate called out to me, "Ellen, who is this? Do you know him?"
How could I possibly know such a strange person?
I shook my head.
The woman's surprise had now turned to calm as she looked at us both and said tentatively, "Excuse me, isn't this the Lester house?"
My brow furrowed again, and when I spoke, I still had some irritation in my tone, "You've got the wrong person, not here."
Aunt Kate came up next to me, "What are you to the Lesters?"
The woman replied, "This used to be my grandparents' house, and I'm their granddaughter."
After hearing this, Aunt Kate gave me a somewhat confused look. But even if Aunt Kate was more confused, I didn't know exactly what was going on.
Then, after a moment, Aunt Kate said, "I'm sorry, but, five years ago, this house belonged to us."
(Lina's POV)
I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on and why these people I didn't know we're living in my grandparents' house.
My mind was a bit confused, and when I tried to say something, the middle-aged woman suddenly said, "Or you two can come in first, and we can talk about what you want to say later."
I glanced down at Jamie.
If we leave now, we don't know where we can go. There are no hotels around here, and I don't know what happened here in the eight years I was gone.
I nodded and looked at the woman with a grateful gaze, "Thank you, excuse me."
When we got inside, the women introduced themselves to me.
Mrs. Kate now lives here alone, and for some special reasons, a relative's child, Alan, lives here with her.
Although Alan looks tall, in reality, he is just a junior high school student.
After I came in, Ellen ran off to who knows where.
"That kid, he must be sneaking online again."
Mrs. Kate said these words with a surprising look of disappointment, but Mrs. Kate quickly gathered herself, "Would you like something to eat?"
I waved my hand, "No thanks I wanted to ask you something about my grandparents, and of course, if you don't mind, we'd like to stay overnight."
My tone was very sincere because I was worried that I would be rejected by the other side.
But, surprisingly, Mrs. Kate readily agreed: "That's okay, there's extra room here anyway, what do you want to ask?"
"I want to know why this house came into your hands."
Mrs. Kate put on a serious thinking look, she stretched out her hand, gently pushed the glasses on the bridge of her nose, after a period of silence, Mrs. Kate said: "Five years ago, I just came to this town and very much needed to find a house. However, most of the people who live have lived here for a long time and they have settled down, so it was very difficult for me to find a very suitable house. So, I found this place. As you should be able to see, this house is very big for me alone."
I nodded and gestured for Mrs. Kate to continue.
Mrs. Kate sighed and said, "But the owner of this house at that time was no longer there, and it took me a great deal of effort to finally find Mr. Lester, the son of the original owner of the house."
I know, that's my father.
According to the time reasoning, that time if I did not lose my memory, it must have been at Raphael's side.
My father wasn't able to reach me.
When I lost my memory and left the country, my father was even less likely to know my whereabouts.
So, at that time, my father sold the house to Mrs. Kate.
"By the way, Miss Lena, what is your relationship with Mr. Lester?"
I replied, "He's my father."
Mrs. Kate looked a little surprised: "Actually, it was rather difficult for me to buy the house from your father at that time."
"Why?"
"Because this house belonged to you at the beginning, Miss Lena, but all of us don't know exactly where you are, and Mr. Lester says he doesn't know where you are either."
Even if my father knew my whereabouts, there was no way he could reach me.
I nodded gently, and Mrs. Kate then continued, "But then, your father solved the problem, and then, I moved in."
"Mrs. Kate, after you left, did you continue to contact my father?"
Mrs. Kate shook her head, "I haven't seen anyone else related to Lester other than you."
"So, Mrs. Kate, you haven't always lived here, so you shouldn't be particularly knowledgeable about what happened before, right?"
I think I may not get anything I was hoping for this time.
If Mrs. Kate had not always lived here, then she would not have known about my grandparents or the truth about me back then.
I couldn't help but feel lost.
If that's the case, my whole lead is broken.
Probably seeing that my mood was a bit off, Mrs. Kate smiled at me: "Actually, Miss Lena, if you want to know something earlier, you can ask those old people in town, they will surely know something that I don't know, but some of them may be old and confused, they often don't hear the truth from their mouths, most of them are nonsense, and no No one knows what they're thinking."
"Why would you say that?"
Mrs. Kate's words were indeed a bit exaggerated, and to be honest, it's hard for me to imagine anyone turning out like this.
However, Mrs. Kate remained very firm in her opinion: "Miss Lena, I am not lying to you, they can say even murder in their mouths, aren't they just crazy?"
My brow furrowed tightly.
I always feel that things are not as simple as they seem.
While I tried to pursue the question, Alan came out from inside the room.
Mrs. Kate's face turned cold the moment she saw Alan.
"What have you been doing?"
Alan gave me a look, then, with an air of disinterest, he said, "Doing homework."
"Really?"
"Really."
"So are you done now?"
"It's done."
Mrs. Kate suddenly turned her attention to me, "Miss Lena, if you don't mind, you can ask Ellen to take you to visit those people, and if you have something you want to know, you can just go ask them."
"I'm not going." Ellen's attitude was very raw.
However, after Mrs. Kate, who heard these words, gave Alan a very sharp look, Alan kept silent.
"Go get dressed, Ellen."
Allen said nothing, turned around, and went upstairs.
When Alan left, Mrs. Kate looked at me: "This child has a very odd personality and was sent to the school here because he was previously bullied by his classmates inside the school, but I have a feeling he may be leaving again in a while."
"Why?"
"The parents of his classmates have dropped off several letters of the report to the school, all accusing the boy."
Mrs. Kate didn't have time to say much before Alan walked down.
I handed Jamie to Mrs. Kate and headed out the door with Ellen.
