Chapter 41 Left a child behind
(Lena's POV)
The feeling of pain, in that instant, threw me into despair. I was in pain, but I could not make any sound from my throat, and my tears were already flowing down. During the confusion, I could no longer distinguish anything.
I smelled blood, and the smell made me want to throw up, but I couldn't do it. I felt like I was being carried on a stretcher, and someone kept calling my name, but I didn't know who that person was.
Perhaps, this is the taste of death.
The world in front of me gradually lost its color, and long darkness awaited me.
When I opened my eyes again - I had no idea how much time had passed and I had no idea why I was in the hospital.
I had only one thought, and that was pain. I felt like all the bones in my body were about to shatter, and the pain was almost driving me crazy.
My eyes filled with tears and the unfamiliar surroundings aggravated my fears.
I opened my mouth to shout, and at this time, the door of the ward was pushed open. The man who came in was a man who, after seeing me, showed a very happy look.
"Lena, you're finally awake!"
I did not know this person. This person's appearance, I do not remember, but I can still vaguely feel a little familiar.
I tried to sit up, but, my arms were so painful, they felt like they had been broken.
Immediately after the man saw me in this state, he ran over and helped me up. I sat back down before I put my eyes on him.
"Lena, how are you feeling? The doctor said you only have a slight sprain in some places, it's not a big problem, thank God you didn't have any big problems."
I listened to the man's words for half a day.
I didn't seem to be able to understand the man I didn't understand anything about anything other than knowing my name.
The man looked at me, perhaps understanding my current confusion, and the smile on his face gradually disappeared down.
"Lena, talk to me, you don't scare me."
I opened my mouth and my brow furrowed, "Who are you?"
The man looked as if he had just been punched in the face, and he looked at me as if he could not speak either.
Silence. There was only silence between us.
After a long time, the man spoke softly, "You don't know who I am?"
I shook my head.
Yes, I don't know who he is.
"I'm William, William Hill, I'm your - am your fiancé, and we were going to get married soon, but you got into a car accident besides, Lena, and I'm sorry to have to tell you this."
After hearing this, my body trembled along with it. Perhaps, I have forgotten everything, but, my body still has the memory of the previous.
I subconsciously stroked my stomach and this seemed to irritate me, my head felt like it was stabbed with needles and this pain almost made me scream out between.
William looked very anxious, he stood up and just wanted to call a doctor for me, but I subconsciously said, "Where's my baby? Where's my baby!"
I remembered part of it, I was supposed to be pregnant, I was supposed to have a baby!
But why! Why is my tummy flat? Why is my tummy flat!
I jerked my head up to look at William, and it was only then that I realized I had cried out. I looked at William, unable to say a word, by this time, William's eyes had also been red, he looked at me, just wanted to say something, and finally closed his mouth.
I knew he was trying to tell me.
My child is no longer with me.
I felt as if I had lost everything, and the glow in my eyes instantly disappeared. I powerlessly withdrew my eyes, lowered my head lost in thought, looked at my flat stomach, and finally, could not restrain a laugh.
I can't take it anymore, the pain, the memory loss, the loss of my child ...... Probably no one will be more unfortunate than me, God, why are you doing this to me!
I buried my face deep and couldn't help but cry out. William came over to me, he stood by my bed, reached out, and took me into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his waist, like a drowning man grabbing a life preserver, and I clung to him, crying out loud without a care in the world.
Perhaps, I simply lost my child because of my instincts as a mother, and my grief was completely uncontrollable. But I always felt that there was more to it than just the loss of my child.
It's just that my head hurts so much that even though I try hard to think back, I can't think of any reason that could make me sad.
William gently patted my back, he comforted me like a hurt child, I heard him say tenderly, "I'm sorry Lena, I'm sorry for getting you back so late, come with me, I'll take you away, we'll leave this place that's breaking your heart together, okay?"
William held my shoulders as I eased away from his body. He gazed at me with such a gentle motherly gaze that I still couldn't stop my tears. I knew he was expecting an answer from me.
I had an unwarranted feeling like I shouldn't have agreed to just go with him, but I had no other choice.
Under his gaze, I nodded my head.
(Rafael's POV)
"Mr. Raphael, I found out the whereabouts of Madame, but, someone said she had a car accident and is now in the hospital."
I got a call from Landon, and after hearing what Landon said, my heart seemed to stop beating.
I didn't care what the other people thought, even though they rarely saw me look this flustered, and I couldn't be bothered to think about it.
It has been five days since Lena disappeared, and in those five days, I didn't even care about the company. Soon, I contacted the person who posted the information of the search notice to the network, ranking information is to waste a lot of time. Even if I mobilized all the surveillance, I could not trace any information about Lena except for a few whereabouts.
However, this situation is not normal. It's as if Lena just disappeared from this world, but she couldn't have run that far without the help of others, all pregnant.
I even started a carpet search method, still can not find any trace of Lena. Even Landon came to advise me to relax for a while, I understand his good intentions, but, I can't do it without thinking about it.
"Don't worry, Raphael, even if Lena is pregnant, she's already an adult, there's no way she won't be able to take care of herself, and you shouldn't worry too much."
Even Ryan, who had never taken an active interest in the matter, called me.
But the accident still happened. Landon knocked on my office with a grimace and told me that he had found a traffic accident in which the person involved and Lena's, descriptions were very similar.
Now, I drove and soon arrived at the hospital Landon had mentioned.
I met the woman who had contacted Landon, who was somewhat rich and relieved at the sight: "You are Mr. Hill, are you not?"
"That's right, I am." I felt like I could already hear my heart beating.
The woman nodded and continued, "The situation was so urgent that I didn't have time to check the identity of the lady, so I was sent directly to the hospital, but after being sent to the hospital, I didn't care about this matter anymore."
My brow furrowed, "Didn't the hospital ask you for the costs associated with that?"
The woman shook her head, my heart completely cold, the woman continued: "I also felt strange before, and then found a time to ask about this aspect of things, but, the nurse told me that someone had already paid the medical bill, I thought it was her family had come over, so I did not continue to pay attention to this matter."
"Okay, thank you."
"By the way, I would like to ask,"
The woman nodded to me and I was going to give her a sum of money as a thank you for saving Lena's life, but the woman didn't accept and I didn't linger.
This whole thing was supposed to be weird, first Lena received the photo, and then Lena received it in the mail when we all thought it was a prank. However, as soon as she left, she was surprised to have a car accident. When she came to the hospital, there was someone to pay her medical bills.
I took a deep breath and tried to steady myself.
After I met with the doctor who had operated on Lena, he surprisingly told me that Lena had left.
"Wait, she left? She's on her own, she just had a car accident, and she has a baby, how could she leave?"
The doctor also looked a little puzzled, "Wait a minute, sir, are you and the patient family?"
I looked to the doctor, "I'm her husband, and we're married."
The doctor looked very surprised as he pushed up his glasses and looked at me with great suspicion.
I had a bad feeling after I noticed the doctor looking at me with such a gaze.
"But that patient has a fiancé, and besides, he's not the same person as you."
When I heard those words, something just felt like it was stuck in my throat.
I couldn't help but grunt and laugh, and even had an urge to hit someone directly, but in the end, it was my sanity that pulled me back.
Just then, I saw a nurse running over in a panic.
She glanced at me, very hesitant to interject The doctor saw her coming and opened his mouth to inquire, "What's wrong, what's wrong?"
"Excuse me, Mr. Robinson, I'm sorry to bother you now, but there's a problem, Miss Lester has been released from the hospital, but-"
"But what?"
"But her baby wasn't taken."
My heartbeat empty for a beat, and when I reacted, I had already walked up to the nurse: "Take me there."
