Chapter 59 William and Raphael
(Lena's POV)
My body was already all covered in sweat and my hair was soaking wet. I hugged Rafael tightly as he gently patted my back, trying to soothe me by doing so.
The moment I held Rafael, it was like I had grabbed hold of something.
I didn't know how long had passed, we always kept such a movement. Only when I was completely relaxed did Rafael speak up and ask, "What's wrong with you, Lena, what did you dream about?"
Raphael had turned the light on, and I wiped the tears from my cheeks haphazardly, then, gave Raphael a relieved smile.
"No, it's nothing, Rafael, I just had a bad dream."
I knew that Rafael did not believe what I said, but, he did not pursue me further either.
"Since just now, you've been moaning in your sleep, and I've been trying to wake you up, but it hasn't worked."
I looked over at Raphael, who looked worried about me, nothing like the Raphael in the dream.
I don't know why I dreamed of him like that since just now, I wanted to ask Rafael which one was the real him.
But the time wasn't right. I don't want to explore our past anymore.
I calmed down.
This matter was eventually put off by me, and Raphael did not pursue me further.
After that, I had a few more dreams, but they were not very real, and Raphael could wake me up just by calling me softly. It was a little inappropriate, but I no longer wanted to throw Raphael out.
After that, I rarely even dreamed. After waking up one morning, I realized exactly why I had stopped dreaming.
Because Raphael was holding me to sleep with him.
I pretended I didn't know about it, because I didn't resent Raphael's hugs, on the contrary, I craved them.
And, compared to having some weird dreams, being held to sleep doesn't sound like it's that bad.
We continued like this until half a month later when William suddenly called me over.
"Hello? William, don't you have to work today?"
"Lena, I'm at the airport."
I didn't react a bit, William called my name again, I only completely reacted.
"You're in New York?!"
"Yes, but I may not be able to see you right now, there are some things I have to take care of first."
I laughed.
I'm happy to have a familiar friend in America and William's arrival is a good thing for me.
"It's okay, William, I'll see you when you're relaxed, I've got plenty of time now."
William laughed a little.
We both chatted casually for a few more minutes, then he hung up because of some things.
I think maybe I was acting too excited. When Rafael came back, he gave me a strange look and I thought it was because I had something dirty on my face.
"What is it, Raphael?"
Raphael looked at me, then, he shook his head, "You look happy, Lena, what happened?"
While I was going to tell him about William, my instincts told me that I shouldn't tell him these things just yet.
"It's not a big deal, I mean, it's not exactly a small thing."
"What's going on?" Rafael narrowed his eyes dangerously.
Seeing Raphael's expression, I knew that if I couldn't come up with a real enough reason, Raphael would do something to me.
"After a while, I should be able to get back to work. You see, it isn't anything to care about."
Of course, I knew my reasoning was a bit far-fetched. Raphael's expression didn't relax either.
"When?"
I turned around and took the microwave cake out with a look of disinterest, "I don't know. They just informed me and then asked how well I was recovering, exactly when, they would tell me afterward."
I felt Rafael's blazing gaze and tried to look convincing again. As I turned away, Rafael finally collected his gaze.
"Lena, you can just come work at Hill and I'll give you as much as you want."
I gave a laugh and shook my head "Raphael, I don't have a reason to quit right now, and if I ever want to change my work environment, I'll consider your offer."
We didn't talk about it all the time. I also thought it would be some time before William contacted me, but, I didn't expect it to be just this weekend.
William asked me to meet him, but the agreed-upon location was not what I expected.
Charmed Bar?
I always felt that I had a deep understanding of this bar. Whether it's good or bad, it all happens here.
It also solidified my idea that William had indeed lived in the United States and that he knew the place well. Although I already had some shadows about my past, I would certainly not give up this opportunity as soon as the time came.
On the weekend, I went to the Charmed Bar alone.
I do not resist the bar environment, in going in to know, there is even a familiar feeling.
Although it wasn't my first time here, I still wasn't familiar with the place at all. I followed William's instructions and continued to walk upstairs. When I walked around the corner, a man was standing there.
I didn't know him, but when he saw me, he had a very surprised look on his face.
I didn't pay any attention to the other person, I went right past this person and went to the private room where William was.
William has long since arrived.
The moment I saw William, my heart suddenly had a feeling of stability. These times are not very long, but, many things have happened that are a little difficult for me to cope with.
William's presence gave me great comfort.
"Sorry, William, for keeping you waiting."
William let out a laugh, "No, Lena, I've only just arrived too."
William stood up and he came over to you and tried to hug me. It would have been a very common thing to do, but now I don't feel the need for it.
I shook my head and sat straight down on the couch.
William did not insist either.
"How's your job going?" I asked.
William looked at me, he didn't seem to want to talk about it, but, he didn't just turn this wadi off either: "It's very common, I think it should take a long time before we can make any progress."
I was sorry to hear William say that, and I gave him a reassuring look.
However, William does not care about this.
"And you, Lena, where do you live now?"
I didn't know how I should explain to William. Although nothing happened between Rafael and me, William and I are still a bit awkward.
"I, perhaps, am not quite at liberty to disclose."
William could also see that I didn't want to talk about that, and he nodded his head. So, he continued differently directly, "So where can I reach you, Lena."
I sighed, then, I looked at William and said, "William, here's the thing, this matter is a little complicated to explain."
William waited for me to continue.
I took a deep breath: "I guess you don't know that I had an accident, right? Because of this accident, I was admitted to the hospital."
William didn't seem surprised, but, that wasn't a good thing. Because I felt he was already a little angry: "Yes, I know, Lena, Elsa has told me everything, but, you told Elsa, but not me."
Sure enough, William was really angry.
I sighed, not knowing what to say.
"It's okay, Lena, go ahead, but you better make it clear where exactly you live now."
I nodded and continued, "Although I had an accident, I also, as a result, saved a small child."
I told William about Jamie, except that by the time I was about to say, Raphael, our conversation was surprisingly interrupted by a phone call.
I took the phone out and the caller ID was Rafael.
My brow furrowed, which surprised me a bit.
I looked apologetically at William, who didn't mind, and then, with the phone in hand, I walked out.
"Hello? What's going on?"
Rafael's voice sounded serious: "Where are you now?"
I suddenly felt nervous, and Rafael's voice gave me some bad feelings. But it soon occurred to me that I had no reason at all to conceal my whereabouts from him.
Then, I continued, "I'm outside, the Charmed Bar, you should know the place."
"What are you doing there?" Rafael's voice sounded more nervous.
I blinked, then said, "I've come to see someone."
Raphael did not continue to speak, and after a moment of silence, I was a little worried: "What's wrong with you? Why don't you say anything? Don't worry, I'll be back soon, I won't drink this time."
"Who are you going to see?"
"You don't know."
"Name."
Rafael's assertiveness made me a little rushed, and I glanced at the booth and couldn't help but start speculating inwardly.
To be honest, although I had wondered before if the two of them had something going on, I was never sure if such a thought.
My heart began to beat faster, the air seemed to stagnate, and it became very quiet around me. I talked a breath and then said, "William, William Hill."
There was another long silence, and when I thought Raphael was gone, he said to me in an even colder tone, "Come right back."
"No, I'll go back, but not now."
Rafael re-emphasized his words, and that tone left no possibility of my refusing.
I hung up the phone and went back to the booth. William looked at me with a worried look on his face.
"William, do you know Rafael?"
