Chapter 99 Lena's life
(Lina's POV)
After I said goodbye to my father, I suddenly had a feeling that I didn't know where I should go.
Although, this is a completely unnecessary emotion to appear.
But the bus drove past me and back, and I still didn't get on.
I don't know exactly what kind of attitude I should put on right now.
Disgust? Sadness? Fear?
All of them are not.
There is a strange feeling in my heart, but I can't find the feeling to describe it at all.
I had thought that something had changed with my father, but, now it seems that I was daydreaming.
He tried to get Raphael to do him a favor.
I let out a sigh of relief. I finally got on the bus as it appeared in front of me for the third time.
I found a comfortable position in the car, and then, looking out the window, I was surprised that I fell asleep somehow.
I had a long dream in which my father's face was still inside.
The dream was very real, but the moment I saw my mother, I knew it was a dream.
Because I know my mother died because of me.
The two of them were very loving and affectionate, but, since their mother became pregnant, their father completely changed his attitude towards her.
He wanted the mother to abort the baby, but she did not agree.
The dream went by quickly, and there were always arguments between them, and even on several occasions, the father had started to hit the mother.
And I could only stand and watch, and I don't know why my body couldn't move at all.
A month before I was due to be born, the two of them broke out in the most heated argument.
My father grabbed my mother by the hair and said in a voice and tone I knew very well, "Don't you force me! Or I'll kill you!"
At this time, the mother has long been desperate for the father.
I did not hear exactly what my mother said, and the dream woke me up at that moment.
The moment I woke up from the dream, I didn't even react to what exactly this place was.
I looked around confused and reacted only after the bus slowly started.
I should have gotten off at the stop I just made!
I came to my senses in a flash, but it was too late now.
I had to sit through another round, which took me two hours to get home.
When I got home, I started thinking about the solution to this matter.
I knew that Rafael would ask me what happened after he returned. If I don't say it, Raphael will be upset, but if I say it directly, I don't know what kind of things Raphael will make blood.
What exactly do we have to do to bring this matter to a successful conclusion?
(Raphael's POV)
Lena had gone out to meet her father, and because of work, I did not accompany Lena. I had also offered to accompany Lena, but Lena's attitude was very firm.
When I arrived at the company, Landon began to give me a report on the relevant work, most of which was unimportant, except for one thing, and that was that William would directly bring up in the meeting that he did not agree to cooperate with York Group.
According to William's character, he certainly would not make such a risky thing.
After all, as soon as he presented his idea he suffered strong opposition from the others, but, William still insisted on his opinion.
I knew that something else must have happened to William, or else he was plotting a new conspiracy.
"One more thing, Mr. Raphael."
"What's wrong?"
"Your father made a phone call to the office earlier, but you weren't there, so I answered the phone for you."
After hearing Landon's words, my brow furrowed even more.
"Did he say anything to you? "
Landon shook his head, "No, he just asked why you weren't there, and then, he hung up the phone and didn't say anything."
"Is there anything else?"
"Yes."
I glanced up at Landon, who also seemed a little embarrassed.
He's a little off today.
"Say."
"Mr. Raphael, there have been some results on the matter you asked me to help investigate earlier."
Landon was going to talk to me about having something to say about Lena's family.
I nodded and gestured for him to continue.
"Because the information is a little old, it took me some time to go all the way back more than 20 years."
I gave Landon a look.
The timing is indeed very unusual.
I had thought that Lena had only been having some dealings with her family in recent times, and never expected the time to be so far in advance.
"Hasn't anything happened to her recently?"
Landon shook his head, "Madame has never had much interaction with her father over the years."
"You go on."
"Good. I found out that Madame's mother died in childbirth because she gave birth to Madame, but Madame was born on an earlier date than her stepsister."
I know Lena's sister, who seems to be a woman with no distinguishing features. She and Lena have no resemblance, the only connection is their common father.
But why would Lester want to change their relationship as elders and children?
"Are there any others?"
"Also, although Miss Lena is also a child of the Lester family, according to their family's rules, only the eldest son or daughter can inherit the family fortune, so I think it should be Mr. Lester who wants to leave the family fortune to Madame's sister, so that's why he did it. By the way, madam's stepmother, Susie Lester, married Mr. Lester just a few days after Mr. Lester's original wife died."
I reached out and rubbed my chin gently. My brow had furrowed tightly.
Landon seemed to have investigated only this much, and when he finished he kept silent.
"Did you look into the date of birth of Lena's sister?"
Landon shook his head, "I didn't investigate any of that, but does it matter?"
I gave Landon a look, and he quickly understood what I meant.
"I got it, Mr. Raphael, I'll come back and let you know when I have the results."
"Go ahead."
Landon turned around and left my office.
It seems that there may not be as simple behind the scenes as it seems.
Soon after, Landon sent me all of their information.
Lena's sister Mary's birth date doesn't make as much sense as it seems. If her mother married Delete after Lena's mother died, then Mary's birth date certainly wouldn't have been only eight months different from Suzy's wedding date.
Moreover, there is no evidence to indicate that Mary was a premature baby.
My eyes narrowed, it seems that this matter still needs to find a chance to talk to Lena properly.
When I got home, Lena was already back.
She was sitting on the couch with a book in her hand, looking up la didn't seem to be doing much.
But I walked over anyway.
"How was your day? Did your father give you a hard time?"
Lena closed the book in her hand, then, she looked at me, "Not bad, how about you?"
"You don't have to worry about me."
Lena smiled at me.
However, although Lena seems to be in good shape, I still feel that this is not the case.
"Lena, have you ever gotten to know your sister?"
When I said that, Lena gave me a confused look.
I had already guessed that this would be her reaction.
"Why do you suddenly ask that?"
"I'm just a little curious."
I didn't bother to make up a reason, after all, Lena must be able to understand that there are some things I don't want to say.
Lena seemed to accept this reason as well.
She shook her head: "I don't have a good relationship with them, although he is my father, I was I my grandparents live together from a very young age until after my grandparents both died, I came back to New York, of course, I didn't stay here for a long time."
When she said this, Lena was suddenly silent.
"What's wrong?"
"I always feel as if these words have already been saying."
These words Lena has indeed spoken to me, but, she does not remember, only I alone know.
I reached out and gently stroked Lena's cheek.
I don't know why, but I always feel as if Lena has lost some weight recently.
Lena reached out and gently took me by the hand.
She continued, "Have I told you this before?"
I nodded, "A long time ago, and if you want to say it again, it's okay, I can listen."
Lena blinked at me, and then, she shook her head, "Since it's already been said, there's no need to say it again."
"So, you can tell me why you're saying this?"
Lena's tone was calm.
"If you can tell me exactly what your father said to you today, I'll tell you why."
Lena talked a breath, she let go of my hand, and then stood up, she went to a tall cabinet aside, looked a little anxious to pour herself a glass of water, but, even after pouring the water, she did not take a sip.
Instead, she brought the water to me, and then, she sat down next to me again.
I raised my eyebrows and watched Lena's actions quietly.
I know why Lena is showing this look, but I also understand that in this case, she can only think clearly for herself, otherwise, she simply can not listen to anything I say.
I gave Lena long enough for me to be quiet and I looked at Lena.
Lena stood up again, she walked straight to the stairs and seemed to want to leave, I still didn't stop him.
I knew that she would stop.
Sure enough, he stopped just as Lena walked up the first flight of stairs.
Then Lena turned to me, "Rafael, can we talk about a deal?"
I raised my eyebrows to look at Lena.
"What are the conditions?"
