"But first we eat." She says as she picks up something from the table. I shake my head in amusement. My appetite coming right back up.
"This is so good." She moaned.
"I know right. I need to know how they make these."
She snorts.
"Yeah, so you can make the complete opposite."
"Cam is obsessed with him." She says simply as she sucked on a prawn.
I blink.
"Yeah, like a spoilt brat who won't let anyone near his toys. Only difference is, Kenny is not a toy to hoard. I love him and i am not all stingy with him like Cam is. He literally does not want us together, even if he knows that Kenny is straight."
Mariana sighs. Her side of the table cleared already. I blink. And she waves me away.
"You get hungry pretty fast when you are plotting murder."
I laugh and something slips into my consciousness. I haven't been paying my part of the bills since I left.
" Oh no. I totally forgot the groceries. I am so sorry. We will go get them as we leave."
She chuckled but I know it must have been difficult for her.
"When you live in a house with all things provided, things like this tends to slip your mind. It is not big deal. I was fine. At least I am making up for all the times I had half a lettuce leaf for breakfast."
I bite my lip. Shame filling me. I had forgotten already.
"Hey, I was joking. I'm fine."
I nod but I was determined to buy every single thing she needs after we leave here.
"And it is also not Kenny's fault you know?"
I look up from my food in confusion. She takes the plate I was eating from.
"I know you were already thinking of coming back. But it isn't his fault his best friend is obsessed with him. You said it yourself, his irresistible." She winked.
That spreads heat from the top of my head to the sole of my feet.
"Yeah but he took Cam out of here, and left me alone."
"Because he did not want you leaving the restaurant because of Cam. He made Cam leave because of you."
"And left right with him. We were supposed to be celebrating our relationship." I say with a sigh.
"Now you are celebrating your job, that is why he told you to call me. He must have something planned tonight for your relationship." She wiggled her brows suggestively.
I blush again. About to say something when the waiter comes to clear the plates and replace them with steaming plates of pasta.
"Wow. I need to capture this moment." Mariana says in reverence as she clicks more photos of the food.
I salivate as I watch. Everyone knows the rules, you can't eat till your best friend is done taking photos. I stew in what she has said instead, it makes sense, but I still wished he sat across me and wiped crumbs from my lips as we ate.
"You don't have to look so disappointed that I am sitting here and not your man."
I laugh as she finally puts away her phone. We dig in and both of us moan in pleasure. The food is that good.
My phone rings from inside my bag and when I dig it out, a smile covers my face. I swallow the contents of my mouth and accept the call.
"Hey, I am so sorry that I left you like that, that was a total asswipe move."
I chuckle,
"Asswipe? I'm not sure you know this, but nobody says that anymore."
He chuckled, "I should keep up with more terms that describe leaving your girlfriend in public like that. It was not right at all."
I nod in agreement even if he could not see me.
"Let me make it up to you."
My body thrummed in excitement.
"I don't think I can fit you in my schedule."
"I think I wanted that sentence to end with mouth."
My brows touch in confusion for a second, and when I get it, i blush.
"You!" I whisper into the phone.
He laughed a hearty laugh, causing me to smile too. I could not stay mad at the guy.
"Finish your food, call me when you are done, I will come pick you up."
I melt into the phone. I'm sure a goofy smile was plastered on my face.
"Okay."
"Tell Mariana hi for me, and thanks too. I love you."
"I love you." I answer and disconnect.
"Look at that smile. One would think you didn't just think about not spending the night at his place."
My smile only grows wider.
"I don't know what you are talking about."
I look down at my plate and i find no food.
"What? Where did.." I stop my question short as I see the guilty smile on her face.
"Not sorry, I'm not sure where I can find such good food again later."
I chuckle. I had only taken a bite out of the food but I totally understand her.
"We ordered everything on the menu, but I think he changed it as he left." I tell her.
"Wow. Imagine being that loaded." She sighed wistfully.
I sigh too because I did not ever think I would eat here.
" The desert arrives in a minute." I inform her as the waiter arrives.
Mariana rubs her palms together at the sight of all that sugar.
"You better stay with Mr. Money all your life." She says as she tugs intom the ice cream cake slice in front of her.
I take a bite of mine and I'm almost in tears.
"This is so good, I could ride the chef." Mariana whispers to me.
The waiter hears this and stifles a laugh.
"I would relay your message." He tells her as he strolls away.
She only laughs but I am motified that someone heard her.
"Well, let us hope he won't tell the chef."
"Tell the chef What?" I turn so fast I almost get a whiplash.
"Kenny." I whisper.
He leans down and kisses me.
"There, no more ice cream on your mouth." He whispers.
"Ugh, you guys are going to make me feel lonely." Mariana says taking another spoonful of her cake.
He turns to her.
"One more ice cream cake and i take her. Is that okay?"
"Deal." Mariana answers without hesitation.
"Great, I have lots of things planned for tonight. Lots." He says without lifting eye contact.
"Ouuu, like a date?"
His smile turns mischievous.
"Let her find out herself."
