My Nike clad feet pounded hard against the asphalt as I jogged. I missed doing this every morning, especially when I had a big game about to be launched. It helped clear my mind and kept it sharp and alert for fresh ideas.
This was my last lap, and the day was already getting clearer, and I could already hear birds chirping. I tried to hasten my jog, I didn't have the mental capacity to meet people that would ask questions that I had no answers to. Plus, Cam would worry unnecessarily.
As i rounded the corner that led back to my house, my senses picked up on someone following me. I shook my head in mild annoyance, i had been out a lot more than usual this days, and it would not be too far fetched to imagine a reporter looking for a next big story following me, trying to reveal the owner of Bavard.
Like any sane human protecting their identity, I slowed down, hoping the person runs past me and lessen my anxiety. But just like I didn't anticipate, they too slowed down too.
I take a different route, trying to shake them off, and so they didn't know where I lived. The person few steps away from me, continue following me.
I take a couple of turns, before increasing my speed. The person obviously used to the slow jog was stunned by my sudden run that he was more than a few feet behind me. He didn't even realize that I had stopped and stepped into a convenience store.
He stopped in front of the store but he peered forward, as if trying to spot me. He cursed in frustration when he realized he might have lost me.
He was a small, scrawny man, he didn't look like a journalist at all, he was dressed in all black which told me he must have been trying to blend in with his surroundings. Failing miserably at that. My head tilted in confusion, eye brows scrunched, I tried to recall if I ever met him and what he would want from me. His face never came to memory, telling me I didn't know him and he was a new threat.
Somehow he turned to face me, his eyes widen in shock as my eyes met his. He started to run, I follow instantly, he was fast for such a small guy. To my credit he was only a few feet in front of him.
He took a sharp left, halting my steps was hard, Because Of the speed I was using, he used his size as an advantage. We zig zagged a few times, I followed him, not caring where I was going. Until he risked his life, running into the traffic. Something I couldn't do, so I paused. I know I wanted a jog this morning but this was like training for state marathon.
Immediately the lights switched to green, I took off running towards the direction I saw him enter. Of course he would not be waiting for me. He had disappeared. There were more than three tiny streets, and he could have been in any one of them.
"Fuck!" I curse as I rub my palm over my face. Someone followed me and I lost him.
My chest heaved from the run and the frustration I felt. I was breathing hard. Soon my eyes registered the unfamiliar territory I had found myself. My eyes search around and no place sparked any form of recognition from me.
I search my pockets for my phone, when I couldn't find it, curses flew from my lips. Of course I left it on charge. I couldn't contact anyone now, and I didn't even know how to leave here.
I started to walk to find the nearest person that would tell me if I had indeed crossed states, and how I could leave here. The first group of people I find were smoking, I hated the act of intentionally killing your organs, but I wasn't in a situation to complain.
"Hello, I find that I'm lost, I'd like to leave here, where is this place?" I muster the inner C E.O, I had to talk politely.
They stopped chatting and gave me a once over, and I stopped myself from giving myself a once over too. It was obvious I wasn't from around here, and they'd like a prey like that to pick apart.
They wore similar creepy smiles, setting off alarm bells in my head. They were more than five, I couldn't take them all, they'd pummel me. I curse under my breath. Why did I pick today to run any ways?
Just then it started to rain, this was a good and bad thing. Instead of dwelling on the advantage and disadvantage, I jogged away to the nearest shop. The roof was even leaking. Today was not my lucky day.
The rain got heavier, like the clouds were really crying and I the victim was getting thoroughly soaked.
"You." I hear an oddly familiar voice say
My head swung to the direction of the voice.
"Lisa?" I question in surprise.
My eyes scan her small frame, she was wearing a white over sized t shirt with nothing underneath it except a black short that was too short, indicating she lived nearby.
The rain had soaked her through and through, so her shirt was see through. Her hard pink nipples were obvious. Just looking at them did things to me, I looked away immediately so I didn't seem rude.
"Not to be rude, but did you follow me here?"
My eyes widen in shock. Hers looked down as if she regretted it.
"No, I was lost, I didn't even know you lived here." I said tearing my eyes away from her messy ponytail to the clouds. The rain had not let up yet.
"My house isn't far from here, if you'd like shelter." She offered quietly.
The only thing that rang in my mind was warmth, I did want warmth. So I nod.
She began to lead the day, that was when I noticed her grocery bag, weird that she'd do her grocery shopping by this time of the morning. This was why she always went to work late.
She walked into an apartment building that looked like it was hanging unto just one part of the building. It looked unsafe. She climbed a couple of stairs before stopping in front of one of the apartments.
The door creaked as it swung open. She led the way, and when I enter, the first thing I notice is how cramped the place was.
"Welcome to my humble abode." She murmured.
My eyes went straight to the perky nipples. I tried to look away but in the tiny room, there wasn't much to look at.
Suddenly the temperature in the room increased. We weren't that far apart, and without thinking I reached out, I wanted to feel if they were as hard as they felt.
Her breath hitched as my hand stopped mid way.
I decide to kiss her instead, before I could lean in, she smashed her lips against mine.
