The shock of seeing her here even after getting on a plane and running away from her was not even as startling as her looks. Even under the harsh glare of the Miami sun, she was still breathtakingly beautiful.
I got out of the car, walking towards her, the shock was the one responsible for the action, not me.
She stood rooted to her spot, sweat causing her hair to stick on her neck, I forced myself not to think about the neck, at least not today. Not here.
Stopping few feet away from her, for both our safeties. Her beautiful eyes were still glued to my face, her red lips formed a perfect O.
"Are you stalking me?" I blurted out.
Before I said that it seemed like she didn't know the use of words. After I spoke, her face crumpled in confusion, I watched as her eyes sparkled in recognition.
"What?!" She sounded flabbergasted.
"Are. You. Stalking. Me?" I enunciated every syllable.
Her beautiful eyes grew wide in shock. Or disgust. Annoyance maybe.
"How could you ask me that? I should be the one asking you that." She eyed me as she said that.
I chuckle, it was so good to see i could get under her skin if I wanted. Although I wanted to be everywhere on her instead.
"Uhm sorry to break up your love fest, but this is a rental car, and I'm supposed to drop it off now." Cam hollered at us with his head stuck out the window.
I roll my eyes at him, but I had been meaning to get back into the car for the air con, the heat here felt like it was going to break into my skin.
I watch Lisa, she was looking from Cam to me, she chewed on her bottom lip, and I groan internally, I wanted to do that.
"Can I.." her question got stuck in her throat. She looked torn, whether to ask me or not to ask me.
I frown,
"Get it out Lisa."
Her eyes landed on my face sharply, I had to force myself from staring deeply into the eyes. I couldn't risk coming off as a creep. So I look at her hands instead, they carried a getaway bag, and at the moment the fingers were playing with each other.
"I got lost, and I couldn't reach anyone, so I was wondering if you'd be so kind as to give me a ride." She blushed in embarrassment.
My knitted eye brows un-knitted themselves as I stared down at her. Was it just me that felt us go closer? I mean she gave me shelter when I was soaked to the bones, so why could she not ask me for help, or at least ask me to return the favor? Why was she so embarrassed to ask me?
"I promise I won't be too much of a bother, I'll keep quiet you won't even know I'm there, I'll just drop at the hotel." She was rambling because I took too long to give her a response. This was why she was embarrassed.
"Of course you can join us." I say with an easy smile.
She shifted on both feet, her face looked relieved.
"Really? Thank you so much."
I started to walk towards the car and pull open the back seat door for her, I see Cam motion for me to get in with her, and I do, he had taken the bags to the booth of the car.
"Consider it payback for the shelter under the rain. Now we're even." I tell her to ease her embarrassment.
She seemed to mull it over for a bit before nodding.
"So where to Mr and Mrs Russell?" Cam's eyes sparkled with mischief. I rolled my eyes at just when the car started to roll into the road.
"If you weren't stalking me, then why are you here?" I ask to make small talk. And I was really curious. I didn't want to run into the Adam guy again.
"Business trip." She answered simply.
My eyebrows scrunched in confusion, I didn't know anything about that.
"Receptionists can go on business trips?" I ask in confusion.
She chuckled under her breath.
"It's a seminar hosted by Bavard. I like to attend these kinds of things, plus it was an all expense paid trip. Who could pass up on that?"
I remember those seminars, it was done once a year. But I didn't know it was time for this year's own, neither did I know it's location.
"Ahh, the power of air con." Lisa sighed while closing her eyes and trying to pack her hair on top of her head.
My eyes strayed to her neck, and replaying the moment I kissed them, and she was helpless in my arms.
I shut my eyes to keep the memories from surfacing. She was taken. By that Adam boy.
The day Cam to pick me up was when we met, he glared at us so furiously I thought he was going to punch me, not that I couldn't throw one back, but I was in the wrong.
"What hotel are you staying at?"
"Lakeview."
Cam drew in a sharp breath. Our eyes met on the overhead mirror. He mouthed the word Nemo. I roll my eyes at him.
"Is the seminar for today over?"
"Oh no, we haven't even started, I somehow followed the wrong bus and ended up there with no one I knew beside me, It was a miracle you passed that road today." Her eyes were still closed.
I sat there watching her side view, it was just as enchanting as her entire being. Her cheeks were full, like she had an almond nut hidden in it, her red lips puckered out lightly.
Tempting.
I drew in closer, after all she couldn't see me. I took a deep breath, trying to get her scent.
Fucking weirdo. The voice in my head taunted.
I ignored it, she scented like a mixture of sweat and lavender. It was intoxicating.
Suddenly she turned to face me, her eyes wide open. I saw my reflection in her eyes, I looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
"We are here." Cam announced.
None of us moved a muscle, it was like we were stuck in a time warp.
Both of us still, eyes roaming each other's face. Up close I could see every little thing on her face. I could feel my resilience breaking with every second.
"You may kiss the bride."
As if it was the cue from Cam we both needed. We leaned into each, joining our lips together.
