"Mom, you know I just found Lisa, I just can't leave her like that you know." I tell her even though I know I pathetic I sounded.
"That sounds like you are in love with her."
I blink at Cam, what does he know about love, he's never even had a girlfriend. But I couldn't dispute what he said in front of mom, even if I was grown.
"You won't be able to stalk her from the window of that book store during the weekend." Mom tells me.
My mouth open in shock and then I blush beet red. I hid that from Cam, how did he even know?
"By now you should know that I know everything." He said flashing a toothy grin.
I give them the stink eye.
"Awwee, you didn't want mommy to know you had a crush like an elementary school boy?" Mom teased as she pinched my cheeks.
I brushed her hand away, she didn't need to embarrass me further.
"You're hopeless." Mom tsked.
"I'll go for the trip.. when is it?"
Mom and Cam brightened like a Christmas tree.
"Next weekend, I'll handle the travel arrangements, you just show up." Jonathan tells me as he smiled.
I smile at him, I guess it did mean something to him.
"By the way, your father went to play golf with his friends. I'm off to a book club." Mom said standing up.
"Do you want to eat anything? I can ask Martha make something for you."
"I'll find something myself." I tell her.
She leaned towards me and placed a kiss on my forehead before leaving.
"So Lisa?" Cam asked as soon as mom left.
I blushed.
"Who asked you to spy on me?" I was a little defensive, after all I didnt ask him to do so.
"I did ask him to keep an eye out for you, not spy." Jonathan said looking sheepish.
I sigh,
"I'm doing fine, I can handle getting a girl on my own."
"And she slipped from your grasp more than once."
I close my eyes, of course he'd being that up.
"Who's up for video games?" Jonathan asked before we could continue our banter.
"I'm going to slaughter your ass." I tell him.
Cam never really enjoyed video games, if he did play, he was going to be the one that sucked.
"I'll just go play with food in the kitchen." He said as he walked into the kitchen. Whenever he said he was going to play with food, the results were going to be extraordinary.
Two hours later I beat Jonathan in every game we played. He sulked on the sofas.
"It's no fair, you created these games, you knew how to cheat it."
I laughed at the sentence.
"My workers created the games, we didn't play the ones I made. Imagine we played those ones." I smile at him mischievously.
He scoffed and looked away.
"Food is ready." Cam announced.
I almost forgot he was making something, since the kitchen was far from the game room, I didn't even perceive what he made.
Both of us bounced out of the room hurriedly, Cam's food was known to be the best things on earth, but the quantity was something else, he claimed he favored quality over quantity.
"This is it?" Jonathan asked.
Obviously he didn't know how tiny Cam's food can get.
It smelt so good, so great. I took a spoon full. I smiled, Cam must be Cam.
He watched my face closely, as soon as he saw me smile, he fist pumped and sat down to eat. Jonathan just stared at the tiny portion with broken features.
"Eat, before we eat it." I threaten.
And that was how we sat down to eat in silence.
"Let's go to the club." I suggested.
Two pairs of eyes looked at me stunned. I hadn't suggested it before, usually they drag me there themselves.
"What did he say?"
"I think we heard right?"
They were whispering.
I couldn't explain it, but I had a feeling she was going to be at the club tonight, and I had to be there as well.
"Are you expecting her?" Cam asked.
He knew me better than I knew myself.
I nod at him.
They smile together, creepily.
That was how we found ourselves at the packed club, with bodies pressing against each other as they danced. I left Cam and Jonathan as I went to our spot, I knew I could see everyone from there, and I was not going to drink anything tonight, I was going to be very clear headed when I saw her.
The music pounded in my ears hard, telling me it was a bad idea to be here in the first place, there was nothing to do there. She might not even be here.
I sighed. This obsession might be getting out of hand.
"She's here! She's here!!" Cam said as he ran towards me.
Startled by his sudden appearance I check if anyone was chasing him, there was no one. He only looked slightly drunk.
"What are you saying?" I ask.
"Lisa Porter is here." He was pointing downstairs.
My alarmed eyes traced where his finger pointed and sure enough, I see her, even in the blinking lights of the club, I see her. From the pounding of my heart, and the relief I felt, I knew it was her. The excitement that poured out of my pores couldn't be contained. So I ran, I ran into the throng of people, pushing them as I passed, trying to get to the spot I saw her standing.
When I get there, I see her. Her tiny waist was on display, as she was wearing a crop top, her curves couldn't be hidden in that short skirt she wore. She was backing me.
I felt my throat dry quickly, I didn't know what to say, or how to act? Should I be playful? Or act like it was a coincidence?
Suddenly she turned to face me, once again my breath knocked out of me.
"It is you."
