My head whipped to the side, facing away from Noah. The first thing that came to mind as our eyes met was the question I posed.
"Aren't you supposed to be inside? Why would you be walking around the hall like you're a guest?"
She was wearing a milk dress that shimmered all over with diamonds, the shoulders of the dress were cut off, leaving her shoulders bare. The mole she hated so much on her right shoulder was gone, I guess she finally found a beautician that could actually do their work.
My eyes took an impressed expression when they finally crawled to her face. She had worked on it too, I was sure her daddy paid for them.
She snorted, "You don't get to tell me where I can or cannot be. It is my wedding, so I can do as I please." She ended with an air of authority, her plastic face held a smug look, like she put me in place.
I smirk, "silly me, how could I have thought you didn't watch out for me through the CCTV footage and ran down here just to see if I was lying about my boyfriend." My eyes never left her face so I could see her eyes twitch slightly.
"Really? You think too highly of yourself." Her eyes left my face and held in Noah, I knew she was impressed, who wouldn't be? He was a hunk of too good to be true meat.
"Wouldn't you introduce me to your delightful friend?" Noah questioned while his thumb traced an invisible circle on my arm. Shivers ran from the tip of his finger down to my core.
"Where are my manners? Karen, meet my boyfriend Noah, Noah meet... Karen." I hung for a bit when I didn't know what to introduce her as.
She eyed me from the side. Before stretching her hand towards Noah for a shake.
"I was her classmate in high school. Welcome to my wedding."
Noah only gave her a nod without acknowledging her outstretched hand. I looked at him, wondering what he was playing at, but I found him looking at me straight in the eye. Caught off guard by the little to no space between our faces, my eyes widened.
"You're going to make her notice, act natural." He whispered but he didn't look like he just whispered. So he wasn't just hot, he was also a good actor? I bagged me an all rounder.
I giggled softly like he had just told a joke, his eyes roamed over my face before settling on my lips.
"You know you're really hot right?"
I blushed, if someone as hot as Noah said you were hot, must mean you were hot as fuck, cause hot people only roll with even hotter people.
I heard a huff, typical Karen. Her foot slapped harshly against the wooden floorboards as she walked out.
"She's gone now." I whispered softly.
"I know." He whispered back. But neither of us changed our positions, we both sat there, facing each other.
Desire swirling around in his irises didn't help the pool that was forming between my legs. My breath had become erratic, I licked my lips as they went really dry, all the moisture in me had gone to settle in between my legs. His eyes followed the movements of my tongue, and he leaned in close.
My heart beat picked up, I knew we were going to kiss right now. My eye lids fluttered shut on their own. Our lips were barely an inch away from each other, a voice blared through the loud speakers. Causing us to jolt away from each other.
"Christ!" Noah hissed angrily.
I glared at the media room, I know Karen saw we were going to kiss, she must have ordered the noise, to throw us off guard. I do hate her.
"Want to take this somewhere else?" Noah asked. The noise didn't kill the lust, it only distracted him. And in that second I was willing to forget my petty revenge with Karen and just follow him to the end of the world. But before I nod yes, I heard the microphone again,
"The members of the high table;
Lisa Porter of the receptionist department in Bavard enterprise..."
The hall was full of applause as two well dressed gentlemen walked up to us.
"Let us escort you to your seat ma."
I was stunned for a hot minute. Did she really just give me a different seat just to announce to everyone where I work?
My eyes met Noah's, he didn't look lustful anymore, he looked pitiful. I swallowed. The look of pity was the worst. I hate being on the receiving end of it. I stood up weakly, my hands in Noah's, we walked together side by side to our designated table.
I never should have taken the invite, I should have seen it coming, Karen would use every method, in and outside the book to get back at me.
"You okay?" Noah whispered beside me.
I plastered a fake smile, while nodding my head. The other members of the high table she chose to honor were respected dignitaries in the society. And they were also my class mates in high school.
With every name they mentioned, my shoulder slumped, they were my class mates but they had made something of their lives. They were shinning in their field. And I was the one that was left behind. Me. And now everyone here knew that.
"We could leave if you aren't comfortable here." The pity in his eyes were shinning through and through.
I had to look away,
"Who said I was uncomfortable? I'm okay." I sipped on the water they placed in front of me.
"Oh my gosh! Sydney! It's Lisa!!" I heard a familiar voice say, but I didn't dare look up.
"Lisa?"
I smiled wide before turning to look at them. It was Jackie and Sydney from math class, we failed maths together. I was actually happy to see them. The best friends that made my maths days bearable.
"Hey girls!! How are you?"
They shrilled happily,
"We didn't think you'd actually come, nobody was going to come so Karen told everyone you were coming. And we all came here to see if she was just lying." Jackie said giddily.
I chuckled,
"I heard the groom was Fred, I came to see if it was right."
Their smile shifted.
"It's fine with me, I'm fine. I wanted to see if he'd make the mistake permanently. Besides, I have a boyfriend." I look at Noah as I talk about my boyfriend.
They squealed together again.
"Omg!! He's so cute!! Congratulations!!" Sydney gushed.
I nod my thanks.
They tell me how their lives had been, and how they were now business partners, and they owned my favorite underwear clothing line. I should have known Syd & Jack was their brand.
"What the hell is wrong with my life?!"
