LXXXIX
The girls and I shrilled after I ran out to tell them on a phone call, just like we always do when I tell them that there was an opening at Bavard creative department and I was going to apply.
"So you're saying hunk of sexy did this?" Mariana asked. Today was her off day so she was in the apartment with James and Sara, Quinn was out.
"Actually I don't know if he did it, but I do have my suspicions."
"Girl it's not hard math, you gave him the best blow job of his life and he put in a good word for you."
I laugh, remembering I had told them everything, not too much detail though, they sent me like a million messages demanding an explanation of some sort.
"Guys I have to go, I have to tell him thanks."
"Awe you are ditching us now? Because we don't give you mind blowing orgasms is that it?"
I laugh and disconnect the call. Those girls cannot be the end of me.
"Hello?" He answered on the first ring, like he was waiting for me to call. I blush.
"Hey." I find myself biting my lip. Hearing his voice made me remember all the dirty things we did yesterday.
"You sound excited." He notes.
"Yeah I am actually. I am very excited. There is an opening at the creative department. Did you have anything to do with it?"
He chuckled nervously. I wish I was there to see it in person. His beautiful face when he laughed.
"It was very obvious wasn't it?"
I nod even when I know he couldn't see me.
"Yeah."
"You caught me, I did do it. Although the rest lies in your hands, I can't do the interview part for you."
I laugh. He was so cute and sweet when we had normal discussions and so dangerously sexy, dominant when we had sex, exactly I liked the mixture.
"Yeah, they usually take one look at my resumé and decide they don't want to hear from me." I convey.
He seemed to be thinking about it because the line went silent for a while.
"Can we work on it together? Your resumé I mean, let us look through it together and fix it. Maybe this time they will look at your resumé and be impressed."
I was moved by his thoughtfulness, he actually offered to help.
"There's not much you can do, but there's no harm in trying right?" I couldn't believe how much I was smiling when he wasn't even there.
"Okay, meet me in the book store opposite Bavard during your break."
My head whip towards the book store.
"Oh my god Kennedy did you not leave?" To say I was stunned would be the biggest understatement of the year.
It was hard for us to leave each other in the morning, we kept stalling and stalling until I absolutely had to go inside.
He laughed his rich laugh that I liked. I wanted to put my hand on his chest and feel if the vibrations that rolled off of him as he laughed felt as good as they looked.
"No Mimosa, I went for other things, I'm actually not there right now. I'll come by when it is your break time."
Disappointment filled me. What was that thing I read once, when you had sex with someone you connect your spirits together. I think that's it. I connected our spirits together somehow now I want to be by his side for as long as possible.
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you."
"See you soon Mimosa."
I felt butterflies run around in my belly.
"See you soon." I whisper, but he had already disconnected.
"I hear you want to apply to the creative department again."
I face Katie, the head of singular units downstairs. She knew all the times I wanted to apply. She backed me up, wrote good recommendations for me, and I ended up coming back to her.
"Yes I am."
She smiles at me. That motherly smile that have come to be my strength.
"I have a good feeling about it this time, I honestly don't know. I have a feeling this will be one."
I smile at her appreciatively. The woman was too good.
"I hope it goes well too."
"I know it will. By the way it's not an interview this time. It's a test. Your skills will be tested, they say they don't want to know where you schooled, they want to know what you will be bringing to the table."
My eyes widened.
"Really??! That's.. amazing." I finally get why she says she has a good feeling. I created a character once and they saw it here, everyone went ballistic, telling me I was supposed to be in the creative department, unfortunately I flunked my interview.
"You see what I was saying? You've got this in the bag Lisa." She squeezed my shoulder before she leaves.
I know who would do something like this, the only person that could make my life so easy was him. He listened to me when I said I loved creating characters, he knew the only way I would get this job was not by qualifications, because I lacked in that area obviously.
He knew the only way I would get them to listen to me was by showing them what I had. My talent. What I could do.
My eyes find the clock. It was lunch time. I grab my purse with my phone. I run out of the building. Straight into the book store. I find just the old lady, the owner.
"Are you looking for the young man that comes here?"
I look at her, she gives me a knowing look. She saw him come in here to stare at me for days, so she must know. I flush but I nod.
"Did he say to come here?"
I nod. She gives me a gentle smile.
"Exercise a little patience, he will soon be here." She walked away before I could say anything.
Soon after I see his car pulling into the curb. I can't stay there and wait so I run outside and engulf him in a giant hug. Or he engulfed me in the hug.
"Whoa, missed me that much?"
He chuckled into my hair.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you." I say into his ear.
I pull away from him and smash my lips into his.
