By the time I woke up it was Monday, I had slept through a whole day. And I would have slept through Monday if mom had not barged into my room.
"Kennedy I didn't bring you back here to be a full time couch potato." Her heels made clicking noises that irked me.
I turned to face the window, big mistake on my part. She pulled the curtains apart and I was bathed in sunlight.
I hiss at her.
I could see her roll her eyes at me.
"Oh please, don't be dramatic honey. You slept enough, one would think you were a vampire. Get up."
I pull the covers over my head in response. Sleep still pressed at my eyelids. I couldn't get enough sleep.
"Kennedy it's Monday for crying out loud, you have to get up at some point. We get that you own a gaming company and you are better than us that have to go in to work every day but you have to get up."
The only thing I got from that was it was Monday. The covers were ripped off me and I jumped up.
"Good lord." Mom gasped as she placed a delicate palm on her chest.
"Shit mom, why didn't nobody wake me up earlier?" I say as I try to find my shirt. Somehow I had flung the shirt I wore when I got back from Miami on Saturday.
"First, no swearing in mommy's house, second, how could I wake you when you seemed so exhausted?"
I find my shoes under the bed and hurriedly put them on.
"Honey, relax you really don't have to rush anywhere. Calm down, I was joking about the work thing." Mom watched me through worried eyes.
"It's not for work, have you seen my phone?" I ask as I search the bed. Flinging covers here and there hoping to find my phone buried under the mountain of silk.
"It should be around here somewhere, nobody used it since you came in, where did you keep it when you came back?" She asked me.
I stopped, trying to remember.
"Mom said all four of us should stay at home with her." Jonathan informed me while we sat in the jet on the way home.
"Why?"
"According to her, the thought of us being so close to a serial killer put her in a chaotic state, she has to see we are okay first before she could let us go."
I rolled my eyes at that, mom could be very dramatic most times.
"Awwn, that's so sweet." Clarissa beamed.
Of course she would say so, she didn't know this was normal mom style, even if there was no killer, she would have made up something for us to visit her later.
She was standing outside the house by the time we got there,
"My babies!! It must have been terrible!" Mom said whilst hugging and kissing us. I felt the tiredness seep into my bones so much so that I pried her hands off my neck and immediately my head touched my pillow I drifted off to sleep.
I still didn't remember where I left my phone.
"You need to have a shower, and have some food before I will let you leave this place." Mom stated just before she left the room.
I sifted through the pockets of the pants I wore as I came back. I found it at the back pocket. Smiling brightly to myself since that was the only means of communication with Lisa. But it wasn't turning on, I curse before going to find my charger.
"By the way, do you eat muscles for food back at your house? Or are you training to be in the army?" Mom questioned.
I jumped startled. She was poking her head into the room. Her eyes eyed my body in disapproval.
"Mom! Have you heard of knocking? It's a thing, I bet you never heard of gyms either." I say as I continue to ruffle my bag for my charger. Where was the damn thing anyway?
"You don't need to be that huge, do you even realize you're bigger than your older brother?"
I roll my eyes at her, she never understood how much I liked going to the gym, I didn't understand why she didn't understand me either.
"Anita made pancakes, come down before it gets cold, you can use my charger."
She didn't even wait for me to tell her I used an iphone and she didn't, dad used an Android too, they didn't share the same chargers with me. But Jonathan and Cam did, I could borrow theirs.
I was about to run to their room but somehow the thought of appearing before people after staying for a day without a bath didn't appeal to me. I change course and head for the bathroom instead.
Problem, I had a hard on that refused to go away. Granted I thought about Lisa and caused it for myself, but it legitimately refused to go away. And I had not had sex in a while, I couldn't even remember the last time if I tried to.
I groaned. It was my parents house it wasn't normal to spot a hard on as I walked around the house.
"Please go away, for my sake." I tell it.
But it still stood hard and proud.
"Think maths. Factorization. Inequalities."
I peeped down at it, I could have sworn it glistened at the tip as if it were smirking, while being hard.
"Wrong timing buddy, wrong fucking timing." I groan.
It was so hard it hurt, was this the consequences of edging myself all weekend? Every minute I spent with Lisa was edging myself and not getting it.
Suddenly a thought came to me. And I went limp immediately. That earned a laugh from me, a full blown hysterical laughter.
I had thought of Evangeline.
"Where's Cam, Jonathan and Clarissa?" I asked mom after checking their room and finding them empty.
Anita started to serve my breakfast. I smile my thanks to her.
"Not everyone owns the best gaming company in the world, even if they own their companies, they have to be there every day. Gaming companies are basically a free world for the owners." Mom said as she sauntered towards me.
I nod and take a forkful of my food.
"And dad? I haven't seen him in a while."
"Then you asked about me last? How can I believe you miss me?" Dad answered as he came out of his study.
He had a dark stubble growing in, that made look a few years older. Or maybe he aged a lot since I last saw him.
"The Russell man are tough nuggets, we don't miss each other here." I tease.
He bellowed.
"I would love to stay and chat, but I have to run. Or walk as fast as my legs can move."
Dad and I cackled, mom rolled her eyes at us.
"Do you know where I can buy a charger around here?" I ask mom after dad left and my plate was almost empty.
"You can borrow mine." Mom said as if she was tired of repeating herself.
I was about to point out the differences in our phones before Anita ran into the room.
"There's an update on the murder case. the police finally revealed an important update. The victims are Guys ages 27-30, brown haired, and funny enough, they all bear the name Clyde."
