Adam chuckled as we stood two inches apart. His minty breathe fanned my face as he spoke.
"Should I ask or you're going to tell me yourself?"
I stood there awkwardly shuffling from one feet to the other. I knew I was beginning to run late.
"You want me to guess?" He tried again.
I still didn't give him any response, I didn't have one, and looking at his face would make me feel all the more guilty, my eyes burned holes into the concrete. What was I thinking?
"Okay I'm going to guess, you used me to make your ex jealous."
My eyes snapped to his face as soon as I heard the word 'ex'
"He's not my ex." I say before returning my eyes to the road. Following an old man that just got out of a speeding cab, he entered the fashion store that was further down the road from the coffee shop.
"One sided love then?"
Irritation sparked in my guts, but I made sure it didn't surface as I was the one that used him, I got him concerned about my business, I couldn't be mad that he was concerned.
"Listen, I'm sorry I used you. But I'm running late, and so are you, so later?" I offer as politely as I can.
He gives me a knowing smile before he starts to walk backwards, he faced me as he continued to go. Just before he turns away, he gives me a little wave. As soon as he turned his back to me, I let out a heavy sigh.
The two seconds walk inside the building felt long and hellish, mostly because of my thoughts, and the number of people I have to push through just to get in the building.
My desk was empty, for some reason I expected Noah to be there, for the briefest minute I felt guilty. It wasn't the guy's fault he lacked in areas beyond his control, it wasn't like he had mouth odour and refused to work on it, this was a situation clearly above his control. Yet I treated him like that because of it. Well played Lisa, well played.
Shrugging of the guilt, I strut to my desk. I was late and was sure I had the most work to do, and yet I was getting lost in my head.
"You feeling guilty?" Zach's voice came from the back of my head. Causing me to jump back in shock.
"Relax, it's not like I'm Noah that would be looking to have your head." He said while stepping in front of me. He placed the coffee and doughnuts he got for me flatly on my table. I noticed it was from the shop Adam worked at.
"You scared me." I told him as I tried to calm my racing heart.
He rolled his eyes, making me to notice he had a haircut recently and it made him a million times more hot. I stopped.y train of thoughts before I started to compare him to Friday night again.
"You're scared now wait till you meet a fuming Noah."
I winced immediately, then like lighting it hit me.
"We aren't a thing, why would he be mad? We only hooked up. It's not like we are in a relationship or something." I tell Zach smartly while trying to convince myself.
"Yeah, it was very insensitive of me to try to claim otherwise. We hadn't talked about it yet.." I heard Noah's voice coming towards me.
I froze for two seconds, my eyes bulged and stayed glued to Zach, he looked normal, but after knowing him for so long, I knew he was just as surprised to see Noah.
As Noah stoid in front of me, in all his tuxedo glory, if it was prior to our unfortunate evening, I'd have been gushing all over him, but I can't move past that, the disappointment was much too great.
"I over reacted, I have no right to act like I own you, we are two separate individuals that wants just one thing from each other.."
Zach starts walking away at this point, we both stared at his calm, retreating back.
"We just want sex from each other, it shouldn't go beyond that. I hope I didn't scare off your little lover." He chuckled nervously at the end.
"Little lover?" I ask in bewilderment.
"Yeah, the guy from this morning."
Of course he'd refer to Adam as little. He wasn't as huge as him or Zach.
"He's not little.." I say trailing off.
There was a pause, followed by an awkward silence. We both stood there staring, my hand found the styrofoam coffee cup and I took a sip.
"I should get going.." he started to say.
"Yeah, good idea. I need to work too..."
He started to walk away then he walked back.
"I need a few files, I already sent you a mail."
I blinked.
"Yeah, sure, of course." I muttered while clicking away on my keyboard.
As I search for the files he asked for, I heard him clear his throat.
"Are we still on though? Tonight?"
My fingers stopped moving the mouse, luckily I find the documents, and forward it to him.
"I'm uhm.. I got my period." I stutter.
His eyes widen a bit.
"Shit, should I have asked that first?"
I swallow, not knowing what answer was befitting to the question.
"I uhm sent the files."
"Thank you." Was his awkward response before shuffling away as fast as he could.
"Wow, that.. that was the worst my eyes have seen in a while."
I sighed, Zach was definitely super human. How else didn't I hear him.
"You love popping out of thin air " I say while taking a bite from my doughnut.
"What happened? Usually I don't want to know, but this.. this needs to be covered by CNN, what went wrong? You looked ready to be his sex slave few days ago, today.. you look disgusted by him."
I winced at the sex slave part and the disgusted part.
"I didn't want to be any body's sex slave."
He gave me a flat look, well his usual look.
"Maybe a little, but you're not allowed to judge. It's not like I want to sleep with everyone."
"You wanted to sleep with him, and you still want to sleep with me. I know that much."
My eyes snap to his face. He shrugged lazily.
"You do enjoy my attention don't you?"
He gave me another of his lazy shrugs.
"Spill."
I sigh, and then I spill.
He looked like he was going to laugh in my face but didn't.
"So what are you planning to do now? He clearly doesn't know you don't feel him anymore."
I was stunned, normally Zach would tell me to sort out my shit myself.
"I don't know, do you have a suggestion?" I ask, planning to milk the most out of this sudden care from him.
"Sort out your shit yourself." Ah, there it is.
"You have work to do here, and unless your super plan is to get fired do you could run away from Noah, face your work." And he walked away.
And like he said, I had numerous work emails I needed to tend to.
My phone pinged with a message. I slid it open to find a picture of someone's member. I nearly scream bloody murder.
