For the first time in a long time I slept ever so peacefully in my own house, and didn't receive any call from Mom and/or Cam to wake up unnecessarily early. I had slept in like a baby and the C.E.O of Bavard that I am, everyone knows the people with the most free time on their hands is every game company owner. We simply have nothing to do asides spending the money made from teenagers and every one else that plays our games. Unless there was a new game on the way, we were always free. But if you have great creators, perfect animators, and an even better team of marketers, you have no reason to work. Cam always said he was jealous of my work, but he is the chef with chain of restaurants that does nothing but play all day long.
The only unfortunate thing that happened was the fact that I didn't get to meet Clarissa in my dreams, I had gotten so used to her always coming to my dream that now she didn't come, I feel like I lost a huge part of me. My eyes closed briefly as I remembered our last encounter, she had sat on my face in her huge ass glory. I was suffocating in my dream, but to me it was heaven. Till I woke up gasping for air. Rude awakening but okay, it was okay because I had the whole of today to myself and I could very well find her, it should not be that hard. I just needed a cup of coffee.
Clad in my bathrobe, I walk down the stairs, I noticed the air was musty, clearly because no one as single as I was needed such a huge house, I was literally doing nothing with it. I opened the kitchen window, so at least clean air could come in. The kitchen was another part of the house I knew was useless to me, I always ate out, if I cooked, it was on very few occasions that I didn't want to go out.
My coffee maker was sitting in the cupboard, I had covered it in a white cloth so it didn't accumulate dust, since it was the only thing I used frequently in the house.
Once I had my cup of steaming coffee, I walked upstairs, to get started on operation 'find Clarissa' I decided calling her surname would only make it sound like I was calling on Jonathan's wife.
I sat in front of my computer, the mails that rushed in threatened to overwhelm me, but I couldn't look away, it was work related. I saw one from Danielle, my personal assistant. I knew her mail was a summary of the thousands of other mails.
I took a sip of coffee, it burnt my tongue but it was my kind of burn. My fingers clicked on the mouse as the cursor hovered above her name. My eyes skimmed over the message and they widened in shock. I cursed furiously as I picked up my phone.
"Hello?" Her voice sounded like she didn't read the caller ID.
But I wasn't going to talk about her lack of respect right now, it was not the time.
"Danielle, what did I read in my mail?"
"Which one?" Her tone was snarky, granted she sent me a million emails, and I only saw the follow up one. But she had clearly forgotten who is boss here.
"Danielle." I warned.
I heard her sigh from her end.
"The investors from Japan are coming in today, and the they do want to discuss the creation of the game for the anime that is a huge deal all over the world right now." Every word she spoke sounded like she was shouting at me, but her voice was very calm. But I didn't have time to reprimand her right now.
I tried to calm myself down, this was a huge deal, something that was going to take Bavard to an even greater height.
"They left Japan, the whole of Japan and trusted that you could make that game, all the gaming companies want this deal SIR, and you almost lost it." She put emphasis on Sir so it'll seem like she was disrespectful.
"Did you give them a proper response every time?" I asked her, totally ignoring every other thing.
"Yes, who else do you think made it possible for them to come in today?"
I took a deep breath, she was going to get from me later.
"Thank you Danielle, what you do for the company is something we can't thank you enough for." I did it to tell her not to expect anything from me.
"Are you doing the usual conference call or you will meet them in person?" Her tone sounded irritated.
This was a huge deal, I could not slip, or else this could go to my competitors, I didn't want that.
"These people have no desire to see your face whatsoever, they are only here for business. Besides they won't recognize you after they leave."
"Okay, I'll be there in ten minutes." I tell her.
"Next time , please check your emails, take your calls, and respond to text messages. Have a safe journey here, SIR." She hung up at that.
I scoffed, I wasn't going to let her dampen my mood. I was way too happy for her to do that.
My bath was rushed, I choose a suit that wasn't over the top, and drove out. I called my driver, he brought the helicopter guy with him.
My phone rang as we walked to the helicopter, it was mom. I didn't respond because I was in a rush, but I did want to show her what her belovef Evangeline did to my car.
I sat in the helicopter and put on the head phones. Before I knew it, we were there. Danielle was out on the rooftop waiting for me. I walked straight to her.
"They aren't here yet?" I questioned. She shook her head no.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked as she walked really fast as if she was trying to run away from me.
"Should I be mad Sir?"
I didn't have time for this right now.
"If it won't hinder our work today, please hold it in till they leave." I tell her as I walked into my office.
"You never called, or texted, nothing. You ghosted me!" Her outburst was unexpected.
"What do you mean?" I was genuinely curious.
"You were never like that, you always called. Even if you tried to push it as work purpose, I knew it wasn't, so why did you stop? When I finally like you back?" She seemed like she was going to cry now.
To say I was shocked would be the biggest understatement of the year. Like? Her? How?
Before I could respond, my driver walked in.
"They've been spotted. Plus, somehow the paparazzi got a whiff of this, they're outside."
Alarm bells went off in my head.
"Make sure nobody else comes through those doors, we'll use the grand conference room." I tell Danielle.
Lucky she had switched modes, she nodded and went off to work. I shot Cam a brief text.
'i got it man, I'm making the anime game!'
His text came in a second later.
'omg, omg, this is huge, celebrate later?'
I rolled my eyes at him, always looking for an excuse to party.
Danielle returned to my side as we walked outside to greet them.
My heart started to beat increasingly fast, this was the first time I showed my identity to a business partner.
