Chapter fourteen

Xavier POV~

Xiao and I were in our office doing some paperwork, although my mind isn’t particularly here, and I am sure it's the same with Xiao too.

Honestly speaking, we have been thinking about our friend Sophia. It actually kills us to be under the same roof as her, yet we can’t even approach her because it’s for her own good. The worst part is that she is going through a lot of pain, but there is nothing we can do to help. Because, according to the doctor, she has to heal herself and then come to us. But I am tired. My wolf and Xiao’s have been very restless ever since we found our mate. They have been urging us to go to her. It has been really hard controlling them.

“Do you think she will heal and come to us?”. Xiao asked, feeling restless. We both have Alpha blood, so we are not used to waiting for what we want. We usually just get it. But now we have to wait for our own mate to come to us as if the eight years we have waited for her are not enough.

“Well of course she will! Don’t lose hope okay?”. I cheered him up. Knowing Xiao I know that he feels all these are his fault because of the way he reacted the first time. I don’t want him thinking that and then falling into self-blame. I don’t need that situation now. Things will become harder than it is currently.

“Listen, man, for the one hundred times, it’s not your fault all this is happening okay? So stop blaming yourself”. I cooked him and before he could reply, we heard a knock at the door.

“Come in”. I said and one of our personal guards, Jackson, entered the office and bowed.

"Yes, Jackson, how may we help you?”. I questioned him.

“The therapist wants to see you.” He reported with his head still bowed.

“Let her in.”. Xiao quickly said, and the guard went out. Today marks the fourth day since the therapist Grace started coming to see Sophia. However, it was reported to us that Sophia refused to talk to her for the past three days. I had to get Rose to conceive Sophia to talk to the therapist because I was afraid that if she continued like this, she would fall into depression sooner than we thought. Luckily for us, she agreed to talk to her today.

“Good evening, Alphas.” The therapist greeted her with a head bowed as soon as she entered the office.

“Evening Grace. Do have a seat. How was today's session? I believe it is better than the other days. I asked her.

“Yes, much better, Mr. Alpha. She was able to open up to me.” She responded.

“That is great news. Do you have everything to share with us?.” I asked her, feeling relieved that our mate had finally opened up.

“Well yes, Mr. Alpha. Sincerely speaking, your mate has passed through a lot of traumatic experiences in the last four years of her life. But I can share it with you because it’s her story; she will tell you whenever she is ready.
So due to the horrible experience, she has a lot of insecurities about herself. In order for her to heal perfectly, she needs to feel your love. You have to prove to her that this is your actual love and cherish her. That will bring her out of her shelf.” Grace, the therapist, explained it to us.

“Thank you so much. We will put that at the back of our minds.” My heart ached when I heard that our mate had passed through a lot. One day, I will make everyone who has hurt her pay for what they did.

“That’s good to hear, Mr. Alpha. Whenever you need anything, you can give me a call.”. The therapist said that and stood up to leave. Just as she was about to go out, she turned back to us and said, “Mr. Alpha, you can invite her to dinner again today. I am very sure that you will get a positive answer this time around.” Grace advised before she finally left the room. What she said actually brought a big smile to my face. I just hope we do get a positive result, as she said. Since the day Sophia has been in this house, we always invite her for a meal together, but she always ends up declining. I pressed the button on my table, and one of the guards immediately entered and bowed his head.

“Tell the maid to send out a mate an invitation to join us for dinner tonight,” I instructed, and he went out to carry out the task immediately.

“Do you think she will agree to it?”. Xiao asked me.

“I don’t know. But I hope she does. Let’s keep a positive outlook on it. Okay?”. I said to him, and he nodded his head. But deep down in my heart, I am praying to the moon goddess that the answer is in our favour.

After about ten minutes, the guard returned to the room. I held my breath and waited for him to give us her response.

“Sir, she has agreed to join you for dinner!.” He said that, and my heart froze. I suddenly started feeling anxious, like a thirteen-year-old boy whose crush agreed to go on a date with him.

“That will all thank you. Call the beta for us!.” Xiao said when he noticed that I was too shocked to make a reply.

“You are right, brother. She has agreed to have dinner with us. That is a big improvement.” Xiao said with a big smile on his face, and I smiled back at him. Just then, someone knocked at the door.

“Come in!”. We both said it at the same time.

“Good evening, Alphas!”. The Beta bowed his head and greeted us.

“Evening Jason. So let me go straight to the point. Our mate is joining us for dinner tonight, so ask the chef to make the best dishes he knows how to make. Secondly, go and check if the maids have prepared her room for her. It's high time she leaves that clinic.” Xiao instructed Jason, who I noticed was smiling as if he were sharing a private joke with himself.

“Care to share with us why you are smiling that way?”. I asked him.

“No reason. It’s just good to see the both of you with a smile on your faces.”. He responded, and we both gave him a glare.

“I was just saying harmlessly. I will get going now.” He rushed out of the room when he noticed how we were looking at him.

Jason POV~

I rushed out of Alpha’s office, smiling. To be honest, I am happy to see a smile on their faces. I have known them since we were kids. They were always cheerful and fun-going. But everything changed when their parents died. They couldn’t even mourn the death of their parents properly because they had a pack to take care of.

If their mate is going to be the reason for them to smile again, then I wish them all the luck in the world.

I went about carrying out the instructions they gave me.
