Chapter nine

~Xavier ~


Because we were away for two weeks, Xiao and I have so much paperwork to do, sign and check. A lot of issues to handle. Since we came in the afternoon, we ate, took a nap and started working until three in the morning before we went and took a rest.


As early as seven in the morning, we were back in the office and working. We were determined to finish all the work in three days. It is in times like this that I am very happy that two of us are Alpha and just not one person because the load of the work will be too much. I sometimes imagine if I was the only alpha how would it be? I personally don’t think I can do it. We have over a thousand members of this pack and there is no way I will rule them alone except I want to die before the age of thirty.


We were working nonstop until the head of workers came knocking around one that the guards were here with the rogue.

The rogue! It has actually skipped my mind that we are supposed to meet her today.

I asked them to keep her at the visitor's lounge until we rounded up our work.

An hour later, I was done. That was actually fast. I thought we were going to spend three days working on it.


I called the beta and told him to bring the rogue.

“What do you think we are going to do with the rogue?”. I asked Xiao.


“Kick her out of the pack of course!”. He replied. Trust Xiao to always be brutal.


“But what if she was actually banished illegally from her pack as the Beta reported? We wouldn't want an innocent person to be left out there alone and in rocks of danger, would we?


After thinking for a minute, Xiao sighed and replied; “very well then, we will have her investigated. If indeed she is telling the truth, she can then undergo membership training and become an official member of the pack. That's if she wishes”. Xiao replied.



The death of our parents hit Xiao the most because he was much closer to them than I am. Ever since they died, the cheer-free Xiao who was ever smiling and friendly died together with them. He became very cold and reserved and very harsh too. The only person he is nice to is just me and that’s because we are twins and he has no choice.


Twenty minutes later, Jason entered and informed us that the rogue was outside the door. I asked him to usher her in.

I heard the door open and the next thing I was hit with was a sweet lavender scent that smelt so good.


“Mate!” My wolf shouted. I turned to my side to see Xiao's eyes had become very dark and he was staring at the girl at the door.


Wow! Who could have ever imagined that the rogue would be our mate Hh?”. I turned to have a proper look at her. She is about 5.6 feet tall which could be short if compared to our 6.2 feet height. Her hair is slinky, shining black and she is wearing a black bodycon dress that hugged her body well showing all her curves and shape.

As much as I can say that she looks beautiful in this dress, I frowned when I remembered that some guys saw her wearing this dress. I can’t have another male eyeing my mate as if she is a piece of meat.


“What! Is this a joke? How can we be mated to a rogue? Among all things a rogue?”. Xiao said while looking at our mate with distress. What is wrong with this fool? How can he say that to our mate whom we have been waiting for?



Before I could explain to her what he didn't mean, her eyes immediately became red and filled with tears as she ran out of the office.


As much as my wolf wanted me to follow her, I needed to address Xiao first.


“Eight years! Eight years Xiao! That’s how long you and I have been waiting for this day. The day that we will find our mate. Didn’t we promise that we will accept her no matter the circumstances? Didn’t we? Why are you acting like this then?”. I shouted at him because never in my life did I think he would do this to our mate.

“Xavier I didn’t actually mean it, I was shaking, so I just reacted on pulses m. I didn’t actually mean it. You know how I have been since mom and dad died. It’s not easy”. He said with a guilty look on his face.


“Do you think that it has been easy for me too? Aren’t they my parents too? Come on, stop being selfish and wallowing in self-pity, please. Mom and Dad are gone and that’s the truth. There is a better place now, accept it and move on”.

I said and without waiting for a reply rushed outside the office to go after our mate. I ran downstairs and two women running out of the house shouting for someone to stop. I quickly followed and saw my mate running already near the main gate but before she could go out, a guard was able to stop her.

She started weeping loudly and that caused pain in my heart. I quickly increase my speed so that I can reach her quickly.


As soon as I reached her side, she was looking as if she was going to faint.


I held and whispered sorry to her ears just as she fainted. I picked up and took her to our private clinic. Turns out that the girls were her friends and one of them is a doctor so I allowed her to attend to her.
