Chapter forty eight
“We are here Mam!”. Derrick announced as he turned off the car engine.
“The restaurant? This is the venue for the dinner? Are you sure we are in the right place? This place looks as if it is closed for the day already”. I asked Derrick as I looked at the restaurant through the open window.
“Relax your mind mam, we are in the right place.” Derrick assured me as he got out of the car and came and opened my door.
He ushered me to the front door of the restaurant. The place looks empty. I could not hear any moment or sound to show that someone was inside.
“Are you really sure we are at the right place? I asked him again.
“Yes I am hundred per cent sure we are at the right place. This is my stop. You are to go in alone.” Derrick informed me. My eyes widened at his statement.
“What do you mean by that? You want me to enter alone. What if something goes wrong.. what if …” I started to murmur before Derrick cut me off.
“Nothing is going to happen. If you won’t trust me, at least have trust in yours, yes. You and I know that they won’t allow anything bad to happen to you.” Derrick stated. From the sound of his voice, I knew that he was starting to get frustrated with the whole thing.
“Alright. But will you at least accompany me to the inside of the building?”. I asked with puppy eyes.
“The puppy's eyes are not going to work at all. It’s the Alpha command, so I have no choice but to obey it.” Derrick explained.
“If you say so!”. I sighed in defeat. I guess I have
no choice but to do this. I waved goodbye at Derrick and gave the door a light push. It surprisingly opened instantly. As soon as I stepped inside, the door immediately closed by itself. I turned back and tried to open the door but it wouldn't open. Fear is beginning to make its way into my heart now.
“What if all this is a set-up? What are they planning on hurting me?.” I remembered that Jane gave Derrick a secret look and that he refused to follow me inside the building; something was definitely up with them.
Just as I started to hit the door, the building suddenly became illuminated.
The whole building is covered with scented candlelight. An amazing scent diffused into the air. It smelled like fresh forest wood and something spicy and an unknown scent filled the whole hall room. The hall room is empty and that came as a surprise to me because this was supposed to be a restaurant, so I expected to see chairs and tables all over the place.
Still standing alone and wondering what to do next, a message bird flew from nowhere and came close to me. The bird had carried an envelope in his mouth.
I stretch my hand toward the bird, and it drops the latter in my hand. The bird then flew away. I opened the envelope to check what was inside. Inside the envelope is a single rose flower and a folded piece of paper. I unfolded the paper to see what was written inside.
“Follow the arrows!”. That is the only thing written on the paper. I stare at the paper in confusion, not understanding what it means.
“What arrows?.” I asked out loud. I can’t see anything in the shape of an arrow around here. I looked around the hall but to no avail. I could not see anything in the shape or form of an arrow.
All of a sudden, the ground lit up, and arrows of different colours were pointing in a particular direction. I followed the arrows, and they led me up a staircase and to the front of a private booth.
I could hear the music from a piano that was obviously being played inside the booth.
“Here goes nothing!”. I took a deep breath and entered the booth. The inside of the booth is decorated with different scent lights, just like the hall room downstairs. It has a bar on one side with a long white sofa beside it, and at the centre is a round dining table that has three seats. On the other side of the booth, it looks like a personal relaxation lounge. The booth looks like a private club instead of a booth. But I guess that’s the peck of being an Alpha. You get special treatment wherever you go.
At the far end of the booth, where the music is coming, I can see the shape of a man playing the piano. From the body structure of the man, I knew it was one of my mates, but I couldn’t identify whether it was Xavier or Xiao because the light was dim on that particular side. I relax a bit when I see that I am with my partner now. I dropped my purse on a stool and made my way to him. My shoe keeps making sounds as I walk, but to my surprise, not once did the man playing the piano turn to look at me.
When I reached his side, I understood why he could hear me. He is wearing a headset over his head. It is Xiao who is playing the piano. For some reason, I expected it to be Xavier, not him, because Xavier seems more like The Who will be into playing instruments and not Xiao.
I stood for a minute to admire him. I must admit, he looks very hot right now. He is putting on a grey sweater and black trousers. His sweater fit him like a second body, therefore showing his muscles and broad shoulders. I feel so lucky to have him as my mate.
After I was satisfied with admiring him, I tapped him gently on the back to announce my presence.
