Chapter thirty five

“Which Animal do you want me to call you then? A pig or what”. Rose mocked Lisa, causing me to laugh out more.

“I hate you. Do you hear me? I hate you”. Lisa said as she fake cried.

"But then seriously what animal do you want me to refer to you as?" Rose jests at Lisa.

"a fox maybe or a peacock. I just want something cute. just like me". Lisa said.


“Sorry to interrupt your conversation ladies. I just wish to say congratulations to the newest member of our pack.” Amanda who walked up to us said.


“Thank you so much, Amanda!”. I truthfully appreciated her. She was the one who gave me a boost of confidence. If not, there was no way the former me would stand and talk in front of five strangers, talk more of a whole pack of about one thousand members.

“You are welcome, darling.” She replied as she hugged me. Lisa kicks me on the leg and when I look at her, she signals me to introduce her to Amanda.


“By the way Amanda, these are my friends Rose and Lisa. I have known them since the first week I was brought to this pack. And Ladies meet Amanda. I don’t think I need to introduce her, right? I mean you guys have obviously already heard about her”.


“It’s a pleasure to me, Rose and Lisa”. Amanda gracefully said. I love the way she carries herself with so much elegance.


“Ah ah! The pleasure is all ours. Lisa is a fashion stylist. You are my mentor! My idol! I look up to you. I love your fashion sense. …” Lisa went on ranting on and on and on. Amanda just stood with a tight smile on her face looking at her. She is obviously not comfortable with Lisa’s behaviour.

“Lisa! Snap out of it! You are making her uncomfortable. I am sorry for my friend’s behaviour. She has always wished to see you face to face and so it’s overwhelming to her that you are standing in front of her.” Rose tries to give a reasonable explanation for Lisa’s crazy behaviour.


“O my god! I am so sorry. I am just very happy to see you. I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable. It’s…” Lisa started ranting again. I shook my head at her. She is surely a lost cause.


“LISA! Please stop and breathe in and out and then shut your mouth up”. Rose commanded Lisa. Who glared at Rose before she turned to Amanda and gave her an “I am sorry” look.

“Once again I apologize on behalf of my friend”. Rose said.


“No it's actually fine. It’s been looking since I met someone who is happy to see me. Lisa I really appreciate your love. As much as I would like to stay and talk with you, my mate is already waiting for me. So here it’s my card, you can drop by my office whenever you are free”. Amanda said as she removed a card from her bag and handed it over to Lisa.

“It was nice meeting you all. Sophia still we meet”. Amanda said as she left.

“Wow. Did this just happen or am I dreaming”. Lisa who still has a dash look on her face said.

“It’s a dream”. Rose and I said at the same time, making us laugh.

“A good you bet. I still can’t believe this is real. I got to go. See you guys later”. Lisa said and without waiting for any of us to talk, she left. It is just Rose and I left alone.

“I was beginning to think you lost your way”. John came to the spot where we were and rounded his hands around her waist and Rose in return leaned on him.

“Sorry, we got carried away with our decision”. Rose said as she wrapped her hand around him.

“Hello Sophia. Long time no see. How are you doing ? Judging by how you are shining, I guess you have been doing quite alright”. John greeted me.

“Hello John. Yeah it has been really a long time. And I have been doing alright”. I responded to his greetings with a smile.


“That’s nice to hear. Congratulations on becoming an official member of this pack”. John said as he released his hold on Rose and gave me a side hug.

“Thank you John, I really appreciate it. Thank you for everything that you and Rose did for me. May the moon goddess bless you.” I sincerely appreciate them for the kindness they showed me when I was first brought into this pack. Even though they did not know who I was, they welcomed me with an open hand and showered me with kindness that even my biological parents had never shown me.


“No need to thank us.” John said.

Just then the music they were playing changed into a slow romantic one. A lot of people started to dance with their partners.

“Hey! It’s our song”. Rose said and she and John shared a look that only both of them knew the meaning of. I guess they want to dance too but don’t want to leave me alone.


“Guys what are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to go and dance?”. I asked them.

“It’s not that, we don’t want to leave here all alone by yourself that’s why”. Rose explained.

“It’s fine you can go and have your dance. I have something to attend to”. I assured them that I would be fine and they left for the dancing ground.



I walked away from the party area to the quiet side of the garden. Although I could still hear the music from here, It was better since I was away from the noise of the party.

“Sophia!”. I heard someone call my name and I turned to see Xavier making his way over to me.
