Chapter ninety four

Chapter Eighteen

Asher’s POV

I snuggled into Anna more but it didn't feel right. I opened my eyes and it was a pillow.

Where was she? Did she run away? Is she hurt?

I followed her scent to the kitchen downstairs. That's when I saw her with Henry. They were joking around. They looked happy together.
My wolf growled. Jealousy consumed me.

I rushed in and grabbed Anna used my werewolf speed and threw her onto our bed.

Then I climbed on top of her.
"You're mine" I growled. My eyes are changing colour. My fangs were coming out and my wolf was taking control.

She started shaking and I knew that I had screwed up. But it was too late and I couldn't bring my wolf back.

Anna POV

Henry and I were joking around in the kitchen. He reminds me of a big brother figure. I never had any siblings so it was nice to feel what it would be like.

Everything was great until Asher came in.
I looked at him and smiled but something was off. It all happened so fast. One second I was standing there the next thing I was in a death grip and flung onto the bed.

I was terrified of him. He growls at me. I was
shaking like a leaf. I couldn't bear to look into his pitch-black eyes. It just reminded me of my father.

Flashback~
I was cleaning up after one of my dad's drunken rampages. Every time he drinks, he leaves the whole house in a mess and I usually clean up after him. I was in the middle of sweeping when he entered the room.

"I told you to have this cleaned up hours ago. You worthless child," he yelled in my face.
I flinched back and replied. "Sorry, Dad I was...

"I don't want your excuses and I am not your dad. You worthless child, you lost the right to call me that when you killed your mother."
Then he threw me against the wall and his eyes were so dark. I thought he was going to kill me that day but luck was on my side. His Hunter colleagues came knocking on the door and he left with them.

Asher POV

I had finally gotten control back right before he marked Anna. But she passed out.
I wanted her to wake up so I could apologize. She started to whimper and I cradled her in my arms like a baby.

“Maybe if you had let me mark her we would know why she was whimpering.” My wolf stated.

“Maybe if we hadn't acted like a possessive jerk she wouldn't be passed out,” I replied back.

“Well, Henry shouldn't have been flirting with our mate.” He fired back.

I just blocked him out. I stroked her cheek. She flinched and continued whimpering.

What was happening? I just wish I knew the answer.
Her eyes flew open and she jumped out of my arms and backed away she looked at me in
complete fear. It broke my heart.

I reached out to her" Pl-please d-d-don-n'y h-h-ur-t m-me". She stuttered nervously.
I put my hands up in surrender and talked low and soothing to try and calm her down. I hated seeing her like this. Looking so broken and petrified.

"Hey shh Anna I'm not gonna hurt you.

"But your eyes were so d-dark" she sobbed
"Anna I'm so sorry I let my wolf get the best of
me but neither of us would ever harm you.

You're my mate. Seeing you scared of me breaks my heart. Seeing you hurt breaks my heart.
"You reminded me of him" she whispered so slowly that if I wasn't a werewolf wouldn't have been able to hear her.
"Oh princess, I'm so sorry." I sorrowfully said. I feel so disgusted at myself right now. I can’t believe I remain so much of the same person I promised to protect her from. I am such a monster.

I immediately ran out of the room. I jumped out of the balcony transformed into a wolf and kept running for hours. When I was finally tired, I came back to the pack house. I wasn’t sure if I should go to my room or not. I don’t think I am ready to face Anna just yet.


I enter the building and head for my office and then I clash with Henry who has a remorseful and fearful look on his face.

“Shit Asher I am sorry, I did not …” He started to explain but I cut him off.

“No need to explain. I am sorry I overreacted for no reason!”. I apologized and kept on walking. I went to my office and did some paperwork for two hours before I summoned the courage to go to my room.

Immediately I entered my room, I was attacked with a hug. I hug her back tightly as if she will disappear if I let her go.

“Asher, I can't breathe!.” Anna said as she choked on her words. I let her go.

“Sorry!”.

“No problem, why did you run off?”. She asked me.

“Because I was ashamed of myself. I hurt you just a day after I promised not to hurt you!.” I remorsefully said.


“O Asher. You should not have. I am not angry with you. I was just in a state of shock. I know that you will never hurt me intentionally. I trust you!.” Anna started and hugged me tight again.


I hugged her back carefully. I blessed the moon goddess for giving me such an amazing mate.
