Chapter seventy one

Chapter ten of rogue to Luna

Lucy's POV

One of my favourite things is walking through the woods alone.
I loved it back at my old pack, and I love it here too.
I snuck out of the pack house to go for a walk in the forest. It was sunrise, so a few people were out there. I waved to them shyly, and they gave me bright smiles back.
Everyone here is so nice; they have welcomed me with open arms.
Enjoying the morning air and hearing the scattering of squirrels,
I walk through the peaceful woods. The slight cool breeze brushes over my face gently, making me feel refreshed. It's a
beautiful morning.
I get pretty deep into the forest.
Deciding it'd be a good idea to turn around, I start the journey back home. Suddenly, I stop in my tracks when I hear a twig snap. I track when I hear a twig snap. I feel the eyes of someone staring straight at my head.
I turned around slowly, wanting to find out who this person was. No one would be out at this time of morning except for patrol.
Turning around, I come face-to-face with Maya and Mark. They are always together, never seen apart.

"Hey, mute freak, still a fag?" Maya asks angrily, seemingly not happy with me.
I don't respond; she makes me feel scared, and I can't bring myself to speak when I'm scared.

"What? No response?" Mark teases, trying to get under my skin.
I pivot on my toes and head back home. I'm not dealing with them today. How did they even get on our territory?

"Pay attention when I talk to you, freak. You can't just walk away from me!" Maya yells at me. I continue walking until I feel a hand on my wrist, grabbing me and pulling me back.
I face Maya and give her a death glare, not happy that she stopped me mid-walk.
She laughs in my face, cackling as she says, "You're pathetic! Was that glare supposed to scare me?"

I roll my eyes and try to get my arm out of her grasp. It seems impossible; when I tug, she tightens her hold. I'm sure I have a bruise from her grip.

Maya pulls me forward, and I stumble. With one move, she takes her other arm and lands a hard punch in my face. Mark jumps in on the action, kicking at my stomach painfully. Still holding onto my wrist, she squeezed until the bone broke under the pressure.

They continue torturing me, kicking my already bruised ribs.
They soon start kicking at my head, and I can feel blood running down my face and getting into my eyes.

I'm cradling my arm to my chest, trying to protect it. It hurts so bad, tears are streaming down my face. I can't take this anymore, but I can't find a link to anyone because I'm not a part of the pack yet. If I was marked, then maybe I would be able to avoid all this pain.

It seems to never end, with the pain continuing. Hit after hit, kick after kick. I can no longer feel each attack; I feel like I'm watching this happen to me, not living it. It's an out-of-body experience; I feel numb.

All I remember is the numb feeling and then the exploding pain in my head before I blacked out.

Asa's POV

I feel this intense pain in my head, which wakes me up. My wrist is hurting and so are my ribs.
This isn't my pain; it must be Lucy's.
Looking over to where Lucy last was, I couldn't find her; I guess she went out while I was asleep. I sprint out of bed and only stop to put on a pair of shorts.
Not want to run around in my boxers.
I want Eden, Cory, and Miller to all come meet me in the backyard.
When I reach the backyard, they are all there waiting on me, Miller being the only one who seems to be wide awake. What was he doing up this early?
I inform them of the situation.
"Lucy is missing and in pain; we need to find her as soon as possible."

They all nod and start walking into the forest. One of our elderly pack members runs up to me and asks, "Are you looking for the future Luna? I saw her go for a walk into the woods early this morning."

I say a quick 'thank you' and run into the woods. I catch Lucy's scent quickly because she is my mate, sprinting to follow it. They caught up with me later on, as they caught the scent farther into the woods, and I ran ahead to find her.

I see a body on the ground, and knowing it's Lucy's, I feel tears prickle in my eyes. I wish I was there for her; maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Leaning down beside her unconscious body, she is trying to feel a pulse and check her breathing. She seems to only be
unconscious, I'm glad she's alive.

Eden, Cory and Miller all gasp at the sight of my mate's body. She has blood all over her face and in her white blonde hair; her wrists are deformed, and I see bruises all over her body.
We all help pick Lucy up, all very careful to avoid touching any of her injuries. I
mind-link Doctor Lana, telling her Lucy is in bad shape. I also mind linking my parents to inform them of what happened.
They have treated Lucy as if he were their own, and I know they would want to be informed of this.
Making it to the pack hospital, we bring Lucy into the designated room, and we're soon kicked out.
We are not allowed to be in there, we head to the waiting room.
My parents make it and my mom seems to already be in tears. My tears started falling long ago.
I stopped bothering to wipe them away. My mom tries to wipe hers
away, wanting to be strong for me. Standing up, I hug her tightly, towering over her small frame.
My dad soon joins in on the hug, towering over her small frame.
My dad soon joins in on the hug, wanting to comfort us both.

Doctor Lana comes back out with the news. "It seems she was beaten pretty badly; she has a shattered wrist and multiple broken ribs.
She also has a pretty major concussion; she might not wake up for a while. You can go see her now."

I walk into the dreary hospital room and stand beside Lucy's bed. I grab onto his non-broken hand and give him a reassuring squeeze.

"I love you, Lucy. Please wake up."
