Chapter sixty

When I woke up this morning, I was contemplating whether I should go to school or not. After much thought,. I decided to go and face whatever would happen once and for all.

According to what Jane told me, everybody at school—that is if not everyone in the pack—knows that I am the Alpha's mate. I know that I am going to attract unnecessary attention to myself today. That alone could have made me want to stay at home, but I am done hiding. I am going to class and face whatever situation comes my way.


I decided to wear a baby pink sweater and blue jeans and trousers. I paired the outfit with my pink heels and handbag. I packed my hair into a high ponytail. I was good to go. It is already almost time for breakfast. I went downstairs and found the twins drinking coffee in the kitchen, as usual.

“Good morning!” I smiled at both of them as I moved forward to peck them.


“Morning, you seem very happy today. What is the occasion?.” Xavier asked me.


“No reason!.” I smiled back at him.


"Okay, whatever you say, I am just glad to see you this happy.” Xavier murmured.


“How is your night? Judging from your mood, you must have slept well.” Xiao asked if he went to the sink to wash his mug.

“You got it right; I had one of the best nights,” I replied I woke up almost to midnight yesterday and sat down and reflected on my life. I realized that if I continue this way, I will only cause myself unnecessary sadness. So I promise that this time around, I will really try my best to work things out for myself. No more staying indoors all day. It’s high time I started taking on my responsibility as the future Luna of this pack.


“Can I ask you guys something?”. I asked nervously. They both looked at each other before they turned and looked at me.

“Sure!”. They both answered at the same time. I smiled. I miss this habit of theirs.


“Em.. I am tired of staying at home doing nothing, so I was wondering. Is there anything I can do? Like the duties of the Luna. What is her part? I want to start doing my official duties so that I can be familiar with the pack members.” I bought it. I just hope that I didn’t come too strong for them.


"Wait, let me get this right. You want to start performing your duties as Luna?.” Xavier asked with a neutral face, so I could not even guess what was going on in his mind.

“Yes”. I whispered as I shook my head.

“That is very splendid.!” Xavier echoed out.


“So that means it’s okay with you guys?.” I asked.


“Are you seriously asking that? By what you did, you just confirmed to us that you have. Accepted us as your mates. So we are very happy!.” Xiao explained with a big smile on his face. Xavier is also smiling. I would not have guessed that my acceptance would make them this happy.


“Okay. So when should I start?.” I asked them.


“If you come back from school today, we will go over things with you. I will also introduce you to your PA and other aids. For now, let’s go and have our breakfast.” Xiao said that and led us to the dining room.


After breakfast, I bid them both farewell and went downstairs. Whoever I pass greets me and asks me how I am doing. I am so touched by their concern.


“I'm so glad to see you this morning, Luna.” Derrick greeted me as I entered the car.


“I am glad to see you too, Derrick!”. I replied back.

“Thank you, Luna. For a minute, I thought you would not go to work today because of what happened yesterday.” Derrick said as he drove out of the palace.


"Well, then here I am.”. I responded.

“Yeah! It feels good to see you. My heart stopped beating for a minute yesterday. After the school was over, I waited for you to come out, but there was no sign of you even after thirty minutes. So I entered the school and checked, but the co-teacher in your class said that you went for lunch and did not come back. I almost went mad.
I reported the issue to the school’s board of directors. But they were nonchalant about it, so I had no choice but to go back to the palace and inform the Alphas.
I was afraid to face their wrath, so I had the Beta tell them instead.” Derrick explained his own point of view of what happened yesterday.


“Thank you, Derrick, if you haven’t decided to take action. Who knows, maybe I won’t have been found yet!.” I sincerely appreciated him.

“No problem. It is the duty of every pack member to ensure the safety of their Luna.”. Derrick said as he parked the car in front of the school.

“See you later, Derrick!”. I said this as I alighted from the car. As I approached the guards at the gate, I noticed that they all stood up when they saw me. I greeted them and dipped my head into my bag to bring out my ID card.


“No need for that, Luna; you can go in.”. One of the guards instructed.

“Thank you!”. I said that and entered the school compound.

Oh well, it’s time to expect the unexpected.
