Chapter35

Downstairs, QUEEN Entertainment was having a morning meeting when the conference room door was suddenly pushed open.

The door slammed against the wall, startling everyone. They all turned to look at the doorway and saw Theodore standing there, his expression particularly grim and frightening.

As soon as Phoebe saw his expression, she knew she was in big trouble.

She quickly said, "Alright folks, that's a wrap for today's meeting. Let's all head out."

Everyone got up and left. John sensed something was off and made sure to close the door on his way out.

Phoebe tossed the pen in her hand onto the conference table and raised an eyebrow at Theodore. "Mr. Reynolds, why did you have to interrupt our meetings? "

Theodore's slow approach made Phoebe extremely uneasy.

Under normal circumstances, Phoebe would have been trembling with fear. But the events of this morning made her unwilling to show weakness to Theodore. She forced herself to suppress her fear and stubbornly met his angry gaze.

"Phoebe," Theodore stood in front of her, looking down at her, "I'll ask you one more time, why were you crying just now?"

Phoebe frowned, feeling a bit bewildered. "I told you; I was thinking about my dad."

Before she could finish her sentence, Theodore's hand was around her neck, lifting her onto the conference table. He stepped forward, standing right in front of her.

His fingers, long and strong, gripped her neck tightly, exuding anger. "Phoebe, can you ever be honest?"

Phoebe found herself gasping for air, trying to pry Theodore's arm away with no success against his strength.

Theodore leaned in closer. "Are you so desperate for a divorce that you've lost your mind? Do you think just because my dad got involved, I'd let you go?"

"I didn't." Phoebe's face turned red from lack of oxygen. She couldn't understand why Theodore, who had been so gentle wiping her tears just moments ago, had suddenly become so crazed.

He snorted, "Stop dreaming! Phoebe, I won't let you go. In my life, there's no such thing as divorce, only widowhood."

Phoebe's neck was squeezed so tight that breathing became a struggle, let alone making a sound. Just as she was about to black out from lack of air, the pressure vanished. Fresh oxygen flooded her lungs, and she slumped onto the table, coughing violently, tears streaking down her face.

Theodore didn't even spare her another glance before turning and slamming the door on his way out.

Phoebe closed her eyes, feeling a mix of terror and grievance. She didn't understand why Theodore had suddenly flown into a rage. For a moment there, it seemed like Theodore genuinely wanted to kill her.

Could it be that Brandon had said something to Theodore, making him mistakenly believe that she had gone to Brandon's office to ask him to help her get a divorce from Theodore?

It seemed that divorce had become a taboo subject for Theodore.

John cautiously peeked his head in from behind the door. "Ms. Ziegler, are you alright?"

Phoebe quickly wiped the tears from her face and got down from the conference table.

She quickly composed herself and said, pretending to be calm. "I'm fine. Let me be alone for a while."

John hesitated for a moment before gently closing the door.

After a long while, Phoebe finally came out of the conference room. John hurried over to her.

Phoebe was a bit surprised but also felt a sense of comfort. At least her colleagues in the department were normal people, unlike Theodore, who was crazy and easily angered.

John glanced at Phoebe and saw that although her eyes were still red, her expression had normalized He then said, "Mary got back to us earlier. She agreed to meet us. I went ahead and set it up for 2:30 PM at the café."

"Alright, send me the address. I'll go meet her this afternoon to discuss the collaboration," Phoebe said.

John, while sending the address to Phoebe, couldn't help but secretly observe her. He was instantly shocked to see the bruise marks on her neck.

He thought, 'Mr. Reynolds really goes too far.'

In the afternoon, Phoebe met Mary, who looked even better in person than on TV. As a top-tier talent agent, Mary not only had high looks but also had outstanding competence.
.

The two shook hands and exchanged business cards. Mary sat down and said, "Thank you for giving me for this opportunity. I've reviewed the terms you offered, but I'm not planning to work right now. I intend to take a break."

Phoebe wasn't surprised and tried to persuade her, "Ms. Watson, I sincerely invite you to join QUEEN Entertainment. In the company, you will have full control over the artists' matters. I won't interfere with any of your decisions. If you're not satisfied with the terms, feel free to propose changes. As long as it's within my capability, I'll meet your demands. Even if it's beyond my capability, I'll do my best to fight for it."

When Mary saw Phoebe's sincere expression, she showed a hint of sympathy in her eyes. She shook her head and said, "Mrs. Reynolds, I heard that Miss Fitzroy is Mr. Reynolds' first love. Doesn't it bother you to put in so much effort for her?"

Phoebe was taken aback.

The relationship between Theodore and Vanessa was known even to Mary, indicating it had already spread widely. Mary, as a famous agent in the industry, had an impressive network for gathering information. The fact that this matter had even reached Mary showed its seriousness.

Phoebe took a sip of coffee and looked at Mary with sincere and candid eyes. "No. Feelings come from the heart, not from us."

Mary laughed heartily, "That's great. Mrs. Reynolds, Mr. Reynolds doesn't appreciate you; that's his loss."

"Ms. Watson, I hope you will seriously consider it. Vanessa is talented and beautiful. With your personal guidance, she can quickly become a rising star in the country," Phoebe said.

Mary looked into her eyes. "Mrs. Reynolds, if I represent Miss Fitzroy, her interests will come first in my decisions. If my choices clash with yours, what's your move?"
This was a sharp question and likely the reason Mary hesitated to sign with QUEEN Entertainment.

Phoebe didn't hesitate at all and said calmly, "You are the agent, so naturally, the artist's interests come first. If there is a conflict of interest, I will handle it professionally."

Mary stood up and extended her hand to Phoebe. "Mrs. Reynolds, you are indeed a smart person. It's a pleasure to meet you. I will seriously consider this opportunity and give you an answer in three days."

The two parted ways at the café entrance. Phoebe was about to hail a cab back to the office when she received a call from Evelyn.

"Hey Phoebe, you got a minute? I just found this really good doctor who's a specialist in infertility. Why don't you let him check you out?"

Phoebe felt a headache coming on at the mention of doctors and infertility. She couldn't help but say, "Mom, could you please mind your own business?"

"Then you better get pregnant with Theodore child soon. I won't have to worry about it," Evelyn said angrily.

Phoebe pressed her lips together. "I'm not going."

"Phoebe!" Evelyn was furious on the other end. "Do you think I'm doing all this for myself? Vanessa is been eyeing your husband. Do you really want to let her take over as Mrs. Reynolds?"

Phoebe felt a pang in her heart.

Evelyn's tone softened a bit and she said, "This doctor is very famous. Disguise yourself and come over so you won't be recognized. I'll be waiting for you here."

With that, she hung up before Phoebe refused.
Shortly after, Phoebe's phone buzzed with a message from Evelyn containing the address.
