Chapter 925 Hubert, Boris, and Noomi Becoming More Like Theodore
Phoebe left Cindy's apartment and stepped out of the elevator, only to bump into Patrick, who was wearing a baseball cap and had himself bundled up tightly.
The security at Lakeview Estates was top-notch, so it wasn't surprising to see Patrick there, as reporters couldn't easily get in.
"Patrick."
Patrick stopped and glanced at her neck, noticing that the bite mark was even more pronounced than the other day.
It had scabbed over but was a deep purple, looking quite alarming.
He pointed at it and said, "Did you hide that from Theodore?"
Phoebe knew exactly what he was referring to and instinctively touched her neck. "The photos were so clear, and someone even started a thread analyzing it. Unless he's blind, there's no way I could hide it."
"Serves you right!" Patrick sneered, clearly enjoying her predicament.
Phoebe didn't want to talk to him any longer, so she waved him off and turned to leave.
Patrick took the elevator up to Cindy's place.
He rang the doorbell, and soon Cindy came running to open the door.
"Did you forget something..." she started to say, but her voice trailed off when she saw Patrick.
Her expression changed instantly. "What are you doing here?"
Seeing her obvious lack of enthusiasm, Patrick felt a surge of irritation. "Aren't you going to invite me in?"
Cindy gritted her teeth, knowing he wouldn't be here without a reason, and stepped aside to let him in.
Patrick changed into slippers at the entrance and walked straight into the living room, making himself comfortable on the couch as if it were his home.
"What are you having for dinner?"
Cindy closed the door and said, "I'm not hungry. Phoebe just brought me some food. If you have something to say, say it. If not..."
"I'm hungry. What do you have to eat?" Patrick cut her off, not letting her finish her sentence.
Cindy was fuming. "Pasta. Take it or leave it."
Patrick leaned back on the couch, pulled out his phone, and started a mobile game, saying nonchalantly, "Go cook it."
Cindy was beyond annoyed.
Seeing his indifferent attitude, she wanted to kick him out, but held back and went to the kitchen to cook the pasta.
The pasta was from Phoebe, who had brought it over, knowing Cindy might not feel like cooking for herself.
She took out a box and poured it into the boiling water.
As she watched the pasta cook, she thought about Phoebe's effort and decided to make it a bit more special.
She prepared a sauce and added some hot oil, filling the kitchen with a delicious aroma.
She plated the cooked pasta and brought it to the dining table, calling Patrick to eat.
Patrick was about to win his game, but didn't hesitate to quit and head to the dining room.
He pulled out a chair, sat down, and started eating.
The taste was different from store-bought pasta, and he raised an eyebrow. "Where did you get this?"
"It's from Phoebe. You came at the right time," Cindy said, sitting across from him.
"What do you want to talk about?"
Patrick glanced at her. "I heard you agreed to go on a dating show with me?"
Cindy responded, "Yeah, you don't want to go?"
"With the way we get along now, fans will scrutinize every detail of our interactions on the show. Do you think you can handle that?"
"It's just acting. Don't worry, I'll make sure we look like a loving couple on camera. I won't embarrass you in front of the fans."
Patrick paused for a moment, then continued eating. "As long as you're sure. We should work on our chemistry over the next few days."
Cindy looked puzzled. "Work on what?"
"The rules have changed. Before, the female guests lived together, and the male guests lived together. But this time, since they're inviting couples, each couple will live together, and there will be cameras in the rooms. Except for when we're sleeping, we'll be on camera all the time." Patrick explained more than usual, giving Cindy a rundown of the new rules.
Cindy's eyes widened. "What? Why did they change the rules for us? It used to be more mysterious."
Patrick glanced at her. "Are you saying it's a problem to share a room with me?"
"It's not a problem. It's just that money is hard to come by." Cindy started to say, but Patrick cut her off by slamming his fork on the table. "Just stop talking."
Cindy murmured, "I wasn't wrong."
Patrick's appetite was nearly ruined. "Didn't you ask Laura about the new rules before agreeing?"
"No, I thought it was the same as before, so I didn't ask. Laura didn't mention it either," Cindy said innocently.
Patrick sneered. "You're lucky you haven't been taken advantage of all these years. Anyway, you agreed, so we have to sign the contract for the show tomorrow. Figure it out."
Cindy said, "Can I back out now?"
"Nope." Patrick crushed her last bit of hope.
Seeing her conflicted expression, his eyes darkened.
Cindy wanted to give up, but knew she had already promised Laura, who had likely informed the show. Backing out now would put Patrick in a tough spot.
"Fine, we'll share a room. It's not like we haven't done it before."
She figured that with cameras around, Patrick wouldn't try anything.
Once she accepted that, she felt less resistant.
Patrick squinted at her. "No regrets?"
"I agreed to it. What's there to regret? Besides, sharing a room with you will make a lot of people jealous. I'll be walking on air," Cindy said, trying to ignore the tension between them.
Patrick grinned, showing his white teeth. "As long as you don't regret it."
Patrick's scandal was all over the news, and Sarah, who was in the hospital, was well aware.
Seeing Phoebe and Patrick in the headlines made her uneasy.
When Taylor visited her, she heard Sarah ranting, "Phoebe used to be so reliable. Ever since she came back from Canada, she's been in one scandal after another. One day she's on the headlines with this guy, the next day with another. It's disgraceful."
Taylor, peeling an apple by the bedside, said, "Mom, it's all media hype. They weren't even wearing the same color clothes. Besides, Patrick is Theodore's good friend. He wouldn't do something like that."
Sarah wasn't convinced. "He might not, but Phoebe could be seducing Patrick. How else do you explain the bite mark on her neck?"
Taylor lowered her voice. "Mom, you know Theodore's temper. When has Phoebe ever been unscathed?"
Sarah blushed, realizing that discussing Theodore's private matters made her seem improper.
After the silence, she asked Taylor, "I heard you met Hubert, Boris, and Noomi. How do they look?"
Taylor looked up at Sarah. "They're adorable. Maybe it's because they've been living with Theodore for a while, but they even resemble him a bit."
