Chapter 9

Phoebe followed Taylor into the living room and immediately noticed the health supplements already prepared on the coffee table. Already having a phobia of medicine, she couldn't help but feel a pang of anxiety.

She had been afraid of taking medicine since she was a child.

Taylor didn't notice Phoebe's reaction and pointed to the pile of supplements, saying, "The doses are all pre-measured. You just need to remember to take them half an hour after meals."

Phoebe was speechless.

Thinking about having to take medicine every day for the foreseeable future made Phoebe feel nauseous.

While Phoebe was still struggling with her thoughts, she caught a glimpse of Theodore watching the scene with amusement. She had a sudden idea. "Mom, are all these supplements for me?"

"Yes, look at how thin you are now. How can you expect to get pregnant if you don't nourish yourself? Stop dieting for a while, eat more, and get your body in good shape. Try to get pregnant this year," Taylor said.

Phoebe smiled and hinted, "Mom, the doctor should have told you that having a baby isn't just up to the woman. Doesn't the man also need to...?"

Taylor was momentarily stunned and instinctively looked at Theodore.

Could it be that Phoebe hasn't conceived in the past two years because Theodore isn't robust enough?

Theodore felt extremely uncomfortable under Taylor's scrutiny. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Taylor was really naive to be fooled by Phoebe.

Theodore then cleared his throat. "I'm fine."

Theodore's firm tone left no room for doubt.

Taylor's gaze at Theodore grew even stranger, as if he were hiding some secret about his health.

Taylor sighed, "Modern medicine is advanced. Any diseases can be treated. Theodore, if you have any issues, don't worry. Get treatment early, or it will only get worse. If you're embarrassed to go alone, I'll go with you to the hospital tomorrow."

Taylor was almost making herself depressed. How could someone as tall and handsome as Theodore have sexual problems?

In hindsight, not only should Phoebe have been checked, but Theodore should have also had a sperm motility test.
She wanted to inquire with the doctor about supplements for addressing sexual problems.

Theodore was really helpless as Taylor suspected him of having sexual dysfunction.

Even Phoebe was stunned. She had only meant to hint to Taylor that both of them should be taking supplements. How did it suddenly turn into a discussion about sexual problems?

Upon seeing Theodore's increasingly dark expression, Phoebe knew that if she didn't explain, she would be in trouble tonight.

Phoebe quickly explained to Taylor, "Mom, that's not what I meant. I meant that Theodore has been working very hard lately and also needs to take some supplements."

Taylor thought that Phoebe was deliberately finding excuses for Theodore, and she patted Phoebe on the back. "Good girl, I'm glad that you care about Theodore so much. Don't worry, I'll talk to the doctor tomorrow and get some supplements for him too. I know you're too shy to say it, so leave it to me."

Theodore was speechless.

Theodore and Phoebe didn't push back or make any other excuse to refuse her, which delighted Taylor. She hurried to the kitchen to ask Karen to prepare the meal.

After dinner, Phoebe returned to her room and saw Theodore sitting on the bed, staring intently at her.

That look clearly showed he was still angry about the supplements. Phoebe felt so uncomfortable under Theodore's gaze.

Theodore raised an eyebrow and looked at her, his gaze silent and deep. "Karen has already prepared the medicine and put it on the table."

Phoebe frowned, and sure enough, she could faintly smell a bitter scent in the air.

Suppressing the urge to gag, she asked, "Can I not take it?"

"You should discuss that with Mom," Theodore said, his face expressionless.

Phoebe bit her lip. Theodore clearly knew that no amount of supplements would help her condition. This was just his way of making her suffer more.

Phoebe sat down on the edge of the bed, dejectedly looking at the bowl of medicine. "You know these won't help. I can't get pregnant again. Why won't you let me tell them the truth?"

"If you don't try, how do you know it won't work?"

Phoebe turned around in shock, meeting Theodore's cold and deep gaze. Her heart pounded. "You don't even want a child. Didn't you say I wasn't worthy of bearing your child?"

Theodore smirked. "Yes, I didn't want one. But I've changed my mind. If Edward sees our child in the future, it should make him very miserable, right?"

Phoebe looked at Theodore in disbelief.

The hatred in Theodore's eyes made her heart ache. How much did Theodore hate her and Edward to resort to such this way?

"Theodore, don't do this."

"Do what?" Theodore smiled, but his eyes cold. "Phoebe, do you dare to show concern for him in front of me? Do you think I'm dead?"

"It's not what you think!" Phoebe hurriedly said.

Back in school, Theodore was admired by many, even the strictest professors acknowledged him. Later, when Theodore took over the Reynolds Group, he earned the respect of many.

Theodore was an exceptional man, but now, because of her, he had become a man filled with hatred.

It was her fault, and she couldn't let Theodore bear the consequences.

"It's been three years. If you can't let go, we can get a divorce. Why torture yourself and become like this?" Phoebe said, heartbroken.

"Like this?" Theodore's anger flared. "Phoebe, do you think you deserve to talk about divorce?"

Phoebe felt a sharp pain in her heart. She opened her mouth, "Nothing happened that night. When I woke up, I found Edward lying next to me."

Over the past two years, she had explained many times, but Theodore never believed her, and he hated her because of it.

Theodore's eyes reddened, and he gritted his teeth, his voice cold. "Fine, then tell me, why did you have hickeys on your neck, and why did you have a miscarriage after that night?"

Phoebe's mind went blank, unable to utter a single word in defense.

To this day, she still couldn't understand why she had a miscarriage.

She had regular check-ups every month. Both she and the baby were healthy, with no signs of miscarriage.

That morning, she had chased after Theodore from the hotel. She hadn't been hit or fallen, but then she lost her unborn baby.

Phoebe's silence enraged him once again, and Theodore roared, "You bitch! You used the pregnancy to force me to marry you. Fine, for the sake of the child, I married you. If you had just had the baby, we could have been civil. But you messed it all up!"
