Chapter 885 Madison's Instigation

Phoebe fidgeted with her fingers, looking uncertain. Should she tell Theodore about Barry auditioning for the Ice and Fire production?

If she mentioned it, Theodore would definitely help Barry.

"It's nothing."

Theodore glanced at her several times, his brows furrowed. "Really?"

Phoebe sighed, feeling like Theodore could read her mind just like a child in her womb.

He always seemed to know what she was thinking.

"I heard Finnegan was let go, and now many entertainment companies are sending their actors to audition. And our company sent someone too."

"You're worried he won't get the part?" Theodore asked, hitting the nail on the head.

Phoebe shook her head. "The opportunity is fair for everyone. In terms of talent, Barry is quite capable. I just didn't expect so many people to audition."

"The more people audition, the slimmer the chances of being selected. I get it. Do you need my help?" Theodore offered.

"No need." Phoebe refused without a second thought.

Theodore couldn't help but glance at her.

Phoebe realized her response was too blunt. She cleared her throat. "Opportunities should be equal for everyone. I trust our company's actors."

"Alright." Theodore nodded, but he felt a bit hurt.

He had invested in this movie. If she wanted to get someone in, all she had to do was ask him. There was no need to go through all these procedures.

Yet she preferred to let Barry compete rather than ask for his help. This made him feel defeated, just like when Vanessa humiliated her, but she said nothing to him.

Phoebe could sense Theodore's mood sinking, but she didn't know what she had said wrong to upset him.

After a moment of hesitation, she said, "By the way, I haven't thanked you for helping me terminate Finnegan's contract. Now I don't have to deal with Queen Entertainment anymore."

Theodore replied sullenly, "No need to thank me. I didn't do it for you. I just didn't want a good movie to be ruined."

Phoebe was helpless.

Alright, she had been too sentimental.

As the car drove into Lakeview Estates, Phoebe's phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, she lagged behind Theodore and answered the call.

"Ms Reynolds, I heard you were hospitalized. Why are you calling me instead of resting?" Phoebe said coolly.

Theodore paused and turned to look at her.

Madison's voice came through the phone, gritting her teeth. "Phoebe, was it you who got Finnegan fired from the production?"

Phoebe's lips curled up. "Ms Reynolds, you give me too much credit."

"If it wasn't you talking to Theodore, why would he suddenly go after Finnegan?" Madison fumed.

Phoebe sneered. "If Finnegan hadn't caused trouble first and injured my company's actor, why would he be let go?"

Madison was hysterical. "Phoebe, don't think you can act recklessly just because Theodore backs you. If Queen Entertainment goes bankrupt, I'll be your sworn enemy."

Madison had only said half of her sentence when Theodore took the phone from Phoebe, catching the latter part. He said coldly, "Madison, who are you swearing to be enemies with?"

Madison was startled to hear Theodore's voice. She became nervous, her arrogance instantly deflating.

"Theodore, I know you feel guilty about what happened three years ago and want to protect her. But what about her? She insisted on divorcing you, resented you, and then had Hubert, Boris, and Noomi with a stranger. If she had considered you even a little, she wouldn't have had those three kids."

"Madison!" Theodore shouted back.

"I hit a nerve, didn't I, Theodore? You're deluding yourself. Who knows what Phoebe really thinks? Maybe she's just using you to get ahead in Kedora. Don't foolishly think she still has feelings for you."

"Shut up!" Theodore's eyes blazed with anger. "My affairs are none of your business!"

Madison knew she had struck a nerve. She pressed on, "Theodore, you don't like hearing this, so I won't say it. But can you be sure Phoebe agreed to be with you because she likes you, and not because she likes your power?"

Theodore's chest heaved violently. He abruptly ended the call.

Phoebe noticed his face was pale. She asked, "What did Madison say to make you so angry?"

Theodore looked at her with a deep, unsettling gaze. Phoebe felt a bit scared.

Just then, Hubert, Boris, and Noomi ran out of the villa.

Boris was the first to reach her, hugging her leg and calling out, "Mommy!" Her attention immediately shifted to the children.

She crouched down, smiling at them. "Were you good today? Did you miss me?"

"Yes!" Hubert, Boris, and Noomi shouted.

Noomi quickly squeezed into Phoebe's arms, whining, "Mommy, we were very good today. Can we go out tonight?"

"Of course." Phoebe patted her head. "Good kids get rewards."

"We can go out!" Boris jumped with joy.

Phoebe stood up, holding their hands as they walked back to the villa.

Theodore was left behind in the yard, watching her back and the children surrounding her. Madison's words echoed in his ears.

He slowly clenched his fists.

He knew Madison was right. In the past, he had always been last in Phoebe's heart, and he still was.

He didn't want to dwell on it, thinking that as long as she was by his side, one day she would love him as he loved her.

But he couldn't wait any longer.

Madison stared at the disconnected phone, furious.

She turned to Finnegan, who was sitting by her bed.

He had just returned from Suncrest City and rushed over when he heard she was hospitalized.

Seeing her angry expression, he nervously asked, "Ms. Reynolds, how did it go?"

Madison gritted her teeth and scolded, "Didn't I tell you to control your temper and not clash with Wesley? Did you ignore my words?"

Finnegan hung his head in shame. "I didn't. It was Ms. Fitzroy."

If Vanessa hadn't hinted to him to target Wesley, he wouldn't have fought with Wesley.

When things went wrong, Vanessa had no solutions, and he realized he had been set up.

Madison was livid. She shouted at him, "If she told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it without thinking? Use your brain!"

Vanessa never considered the bigger picture and never thought of solutions when things went wrong.

To her, actors were dispensable.

As long as Queen Entertainment stood, she could always sign new ones. She wasn't afraid.

If Madison hadn't struggled to keep Queen Entertainment afloat these past few years, it would have vanished from The Entertainment Industry long ago, unable to compete with Phoebe.

Finnegan was so ashamed he couldn't lift his head. He asked Madison, "What do we do now?"

Madison's head throbbed. Seeing Finnegan's foolish expression, she suddenly shouted, "You didn't think when you acted, and now you ask me? How should I know? Get out! Get out of here!"

Finnegan saw her sudden anger and was terrified of making her more upset.

He quickly got up and stumbled out of the ward.
