Chapter 794 You Will Regret Treating Me This Way
The pungent smell of paint made Phoebe frown. She turned around and saw the profile of the man behind her, stunned for a moment, "Why are you here?"
The paint clung stickily to his body, dripping onto the ground.
Theodore's brows furrowed tightly. He let go of Phoebe and turned to look at Vanessa, who was standing there in a daze.
Vanessa's ten fingers were covered in red paint, which was dripping down. She looked at them with a crazed expression.
"A pair of bastards, go to hell."
Vanessa grabbed the paint bucket and charged at them, her expression manic. As she got closer, she swung the paint bucket at Phoebe.
Theodore pushed Phoebe aside and raised his arm to block it. The metal bucket hit his arm with a dull thud.
Vanessa was jolted back two steps. She looked at Theodore with heart-wrenching sorrow, "Why? Why are you doing this to me?"
Theodore's eyes were cold and stern, "Vanessa, you are too ungrateful."
"Ungrateful?" Vanessa suddenly burst into laughter, her voice sharp and piercing, her eyes bloodshot, "Ungrateful for what? I've been with you for nearly ten years, ten years! I gave you the best years of my youth. You betrayed my feelings for you. You were the one who cheated on me with her first."
It was after work hours, and employees were gradually coming out of the Empire State Building. Seeing the scene, they stopped to watch.
Someone recognized them and started discussing.
"Isn't that Phoebe, the president of Superstar Entertainment upstairs? So she's the mistress. No wonder she became the boss at such a young age."
"That's Theodore, the president of the Reynolds Group. We're witnessing a live drama. Quick, take out your phone and post this online."
"If you don't want to work at Kedora anymore, go ahead and post it."
"Is that the Piano Queen Vanessa? Up close, she doesn't look as good as Phoebe. That face is a bit scary."
The rumors and gossip reached the ears of the three, and none of them looked pleased.
Theodore's brows furrowed tightly. He couldn't let these onlookers misunderstand Phoebe as a mistress. He said coldly, "If I remember correctly, I was the one who got dumped."
Vanessa saw the onlookers' gazes shift from sympathy to curiosity. She said hatefully, "You forced me to break up with you, Theodore. What did I ever do to you to deserve this?"
Theodore sneered, "You know very well how we got together and why we broke up. Vanessa, keep some dignity for yourself. Don't come to me acting crazy. I never wronged you."
His attitude was upright, unafraid of the surrounding rumors.
After saying this, he walked over to Phoebe, looking her up and down. Seeing that she wasn't hurt and not a drop of paint had splashed on her, he was relieved.
"Sorry, I'll handle this. I won't let her bother you again." Theodore lowered his eyes, looking at her gently.
Phoebe looked at the red paint on his white shirt. She probably never thought Theodore would end up in such a sorry state.
She glanced at Vanessa in the distance and said lightly, "It's okay."
At that moment, Lori came down with some people. Seeing a crowd around them, Lori shouted, "Everyone, don't you need to catch the subway?"
The employees wanted to stay and watch, but Theodore's sharp gaze made them shrink back.
"Let's go. The subway will be more crowded later. Let's disperse." Someone echoed.
Seeing the bodyguards from Superstar Entertainment coming down, the crowd figured there was nothing more to see and left.
Soon, the onlookers were gone. Lori had people guard the door, letting other employees leave through another exit.
Only the three of them were left at the entrance.
Vanessa had been waiting here to embarrass Phoebe, to make her the subject of gossip every time she went to and from work.
Now that the audience had left, she laughed even more wildly, "Phoebe, have you been at peace all these years?"
Phoebe stared at her without even frowning.
Vanessa seemed completely unhinged, like she had finally gone mad. Phoebe said, "When I got together with Mr. Reynolds, you had already broken up. I didn't interfere in your relationship. But after I married Mr. Reynolds, you kept interfering in our marriage. Vanessa, don't twist the facts. I never owed you anything."
"If you hadn't seduced him at his company, would he have agreed to break up with me?" Vanessa clenched the paint bucket, "If you hadn't incited him, would he have kicked me and Queen Entertainment out of the Reynolds Group building?"
"Phoebe, it's all because of you. You ruined my life, and my mom too. You killed her." Vanessa roared, "You murderer!"
Phoebe frowned. Vanessa was accusing her of a crime she didn't commit. She laughed, "I killed your mom? Are you sure?"
"If it wasn't you, who else? If you hadn't taken Theodore away, my mom wouldn't have gotten sick from anger and ended up in the hospital. She wouldn't have died at the Reynolds Group trying to save me. I didn't even get to see her one last time. Phoebe, I hate you!" Vanessa swung the paint bucket and charged at Phoebe.
This time, she didn't get a chance to get close to Phoebe.
Because Theodore kicked her in the abdomen, sending her flying. She fell to the ground, unable to get up.
Theodore walked over slowly. At this moment, dark clouds covered the sun, and the light dimmed. A wind blew, scattering leaves.
He walked step by step to Vanessa, stepping on her hand as she tried to get up. His expression was grim, like a demon from hell.
He looked down at her coldly and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Vanessa, I regret saving you three years ago out of gratitude to Sophia! If I hadn't saved you first, I wouldn't have lived in hell for the past three years. Tell me, why wasn't it you who suffered back then?"
Vanessa suddenly looked up, meeting Theodore's eyes filled with hatred. She trembled all over.
"Don't you ever bother Phoebe again, or I'll make you regret ever being born. I'm serious." Theodore lifted his foot off her hand.
Vanessa's face was drained of color. She lay on the ground, staring at Theodore's paint-stained figure, her eyes filled with intense hatred.
"Theodore, you'll regret treating me like this."
