Chapter 950 Must Be Together with Phoebe
Sarah was left speechless by Phoebe's retort, her finger trembling as she pointed at Phoebe, "You, you dare call me disrespectful?"
Before Phoebe could respond, Theodore interjected, "Grandma, the doctor said you need to rest. You shouldn't be dealing with all this stress."
Sarah's eyes widened, "I'm not so old that I can't tell right from wrong. But you, Theodore, have you forgotten how she insisted on divorcing you back then?"
Bringing up the past now, it was hard to tell whose heart it hurt more.
Theodore's expression darkened slightly. "Grandma, this is my business. You don't need to keep reminding me."
"I'm just hoping you won't make the same mistake twice, Theodore. A woman who betrayed you once shouldn't get another chance to hurt you," Sarah said earnestly.
Phoebe, standing nearby, clenched her fists at her sides.
She stepped forward, standing in front of Sarah, "Grandma, I understand your concern for Theodore, but I won't hurt him again. As long as he still loves me, I won't let him go. Please, don't waste your efforts."
Sarah glared at her, "Can anyone believe what you say?"
"Time will tell. Let's wait and see," Phoebe replied.
Sarah snorted coldly.
Seeing Theodore's attitude, she knew saying more would be useless.
She shook her head, "Theodore, you've chosen your path. Whatever happens, you'll have to bear the consequences."
"How do you know it will be bitter, Grandma? Maybe I'll find it sweet," Theodore countered.
Sarah glared at him, "You're blinded by love now. In several years, you'll see what it's like raising someone else's children."
Phoebe's lips moved, but she had nothing to say.
Sarah doubted her sincerity towards Theodore, and she could confidently assure her that she wouldn't betray Theodore's love.
But when it came to Hubert, Boris, and Noomi, that was something she would always owe Theodore, and she couldn't argue against it.
Theodore seemed to know what she was thinking.
He leaned in and took her hand. When she looked down at him, he gave her a gentle smile, "It's okay. I won't regret it."
Sarah had said everything she could.
Seeing that Theodore still wanted to be with Phoebe, she felt exhausted.
"Fine, I'm old and don't have many days left. I won't be around to see you two torment each other. Your lives are your own to manage," Sarah waved her hand and wheeled herself out.
Outside, Sandra saw Sarah coming out and quickly asked, "Grandma, how did it go? Did Theodore change his mind?"
Sarah glanced at her.
She wasn't senile yet and could see that Sandra was using her as a pawn.
But she was also upset and wanted to stir things up.
Unfortunately, Theodore was stubborn.
Among all the daughters of prominent families in Kedora, he didn't fancy any of them. He only wanted Phoebe, no matter what anyone said.
"Sandra, Theodore has been stubborn since he was a child. Once he sets his mind on something, no one can change it. You should focus your efforts elsewhere," Sarah advised.
Sandra's heart sank. "Grandma, are you just going to watch those three children become part of the Reynolds family and inherit the Reynolds fortune? Aren't you worried Mr. Reynolds won't rest in peace in heaven?"
"I'm old and can't manage anymore." Sarah waved her hand, signaling the servant to push her away quickly.
The servant got the message and swiftly wheeled Sarah away.
Sandra stood in the hallway, gritting her teeth.
Not long after, Phoebe came out of the room.
Seeing Sandra still there, she frowned and walked to the end of the hallway to throw out the trash.
Sandra followed her, mocking, "Phoebe, you're quite something, getting Theodore to raise your kids."
Phoebe threw out the trash and turned to Sandra, "Jealous, Ms. Ramirez?"
Sandra's expression twisted, and she sneered, "I would never be jealous of a woman like you. I warned you before to stay away from Theodore. You didn't listen, so face the consequences."
Phoebe stepped closer, her gaze fixed on Sandra, "Sandra, you've warned me many times. Now, I'm warning you once. Stay away from me, or I'll make sure the Ramirez family ends up like the Adams family."
Sandra was intimidated by Phoebe's aura.
Her legs went weak, and she almost fell. She quickly grabbed the wall, trembling with anger, "You, you dare threaten me?"
Phoebe nodded, "Yes, this is a verbal threat. If you come to me again, it won't just be a threat."
With that, she brushed past Sandra and walked away confidently.
Behind her, Sandra clutched her numb shoulder, seething with rage and thinking to herself, 'Phoebe, don't get cocky. I'll make you pay for crossing me.'
The next morning, the doctor came to check on Theodore.
He was fine, but Phoebe insisted that the doctor prescribe a back brace for him.
Jack went to handle the discharge paperwork.
Phoebe didn't see Lawton and casually asked, "Where's Mr. Brown? I haven't seen him."
Theodore cleared his throat, "He had some family matters to attend to and took a leave."
The paternity test results would take 48 hours.
He had Lawton stay close to the lab until the results were out, which would be the next morning.
The wait felt endless.
"Okay." Phoebe unwrapped the back brace and held it up to Theodore's waist.
Theodore looked pale. "Do I have to wear this?"
Phoebe stifled a laugh, "Yes, it's good for your back. No complaints."
Theodore pursed his lips but extended his arms, letting her put it on him, "Good thing it's winter and the clothes are thick. If it were summer, I wouldn't wear it."
Phoebe nodded vigorously, "Yes, your dignity is paramount."
She pulled down his sweater to cover the brace and stood back to admire her work. "There, with a suit on, no one will notice."
Just as she reached for his suit, Theodore's large hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her into his arms. "Thank you for last night."
Theodore's breath was hot against her ear, making Phoebe's legs weak.
She clutched his shirt, not daring to put her full weight on him, worried about his back.
"Stop breathing in my ear," Phoebe whispered.
Theodore chuckled and nipped at her earlobe.
Just as he was about to speak, the door burst open, and Jack blurted out, "Mr. Reynolds, the discharge papers are ready. Oh, sorry, sorry, continue. I didn't see anything."
The door closed again.
Phoebe couldn't help but laugh. She looked up at Theodore, "Why is Jack so clueless?"
