Chapter 930 Busy Chasing Phoebe
At ten o'clock in the evening, Sandra came home with two noticeable bumps on her forehead.
Tatum saw her and gasped, "Sandra, what happened to your forehead? How did it get so swollen?"
Sandra's eyes welled up as she thought about her day's misfortunes. "I just accidentally bumped into something."
Tatum quickly walked over to her, examining her swollen forehead with concern. "Where did you bump it? Sit down, I'll call the family doctor to take a look."
"No, I already look bad enough." Sandra angrily plopped down on the couch. "It's all Phoebe's fault. If she hadn't come back, I would be marrying Theodore by now."
Tatum tried to comfort her. "There are plenty of men out there. If not Theodore, we can find another one."
"How can I find another? I only want Theodore. No one else will do." Sandra said stubbornly. "Mom, you have to help me figure out a way to break them up."
Tatum, although she loved Sandra, wasn't one to indulge her without limits.
She frowned at Sandra's words. "Sandra, you said Theodore liked you. How did he end up back with his ex-wife?"
"Phoebe seduced him, believe me," Sandra said urgently. "Mom, please help me. I love Theodore. I can't marry anyone else."
Tatum rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on. "Don't be silly. Listen to me, forget about Theodore. I'll have your dad find you another good man."
"But none of them are as handsome or as rich as Theodore. If I marry him, the Ramirez family will never have to worry about wealth again." Sandra tried to persuade Tatum.
Tatum was tempted but hesitated when she thought about Theodore. "He doesn't like you. Even if he were incredibly wealthy, it wouldn't matter."
"Mom, as long as I become his wife, the Reynolds family fortune will be partly mine. Teach me how to keep him under my control."
Seeing Sandra's obsessive look, Tatum wavered. "Let me think. Tomorrow night, the Ramirez Group is hosting an industry summit, and Theodore is invited. Maybe we can do something then."
Sandra's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Mom. I knew you loved me the most."
The next evening, the Ramirez family hosted an industry summit, inviting business elites.
As the hosts, the Ramirez family waited outside the hotel early.
Guests arrived one after another, and luxury cars gathered at the hotel entrance.
Sandra's father, Tate, stood outside with Bianca and Brian, warmly greeting the guests.
After chatting, Brian escorted them into the banquet hall.
Returning, Brian saw a silver-gray Maybach pull up.
Theodore stepped out, dressed in a vintage-style suit with a Windsor knot tie, exuding elegance and nobility.
Tate approached and shook his hand. "Mr. Reynolds, welcome. Why didn't you bring a date tonight?"
Theodore was accompanied by Lawton. Usually, he would bring a date to such events, but Phoebe had her engagements that evening.
On the way there, Theodore felt a bit resentful.
Phoebe was busier than him these days.
They left together in the morning, and by the time he had put Hubert, Boris, and Noomi to bed, she would just be getting home.
Many times, he saw her return home exhausted.
He wanted to suggest letting a professional manager run the company.
But he couldn't say it.
Phoebe wasn't a trophy wife, especially since the five-hundred-million-dollar ransom three years ago had left a scar on her heart.
If he suggested she stay home with the kids, she might tell him to do the same.
Despite his immense wealth, he felt useless, which was absurd.
"What, am I not allowed in without a date?" Theodore, in a bad mood, couldn't stand seeing others paired up and spoke harshly.
Tate was taken aback and quickly said, "Of course not, Mr. Reynolds. Please, come in."
Brian happened to come out, and Tate had him accompany Theodore inside.
Once they left, Tate wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and muttered, "He's got a bigger presence than his father. Full of youthful vigor."
Tatum glanced at him, then looked back at Theodore being escorted into the hall by Brian. "I've been standing too long; my back hurts. Brian, you stay here and help your dad greet the guests. I'm going to the dressing room to sit for a bit."
Bianca nodded. "Okay."
Tatum quickly left, lifting her skirt.
Bianca watched her leave, feeling something was off but couldn't pinpoint what.
"Dad, where's Sandra tonight?" Bianca asked.
Tate sighed at the mention of Sandra. "Who knows where she is. If she were half as easygoing as you, I'd have fewer gray hairs."
Bianca tried to console him. "Dad, Sandra is still young and hasn't settled down yet. Once she's married and has kids, you won't have to worry about her."
Tate shook his head, about to say something, when more guests arrived.
He had to put it aside and greet them with Bianca.
Meanwhile, Sandra hid in the dressing room.
The door opened, and she saw Tatum rush in.
"Sandra, Theodore is here, and he didn't bring a date. You go over now, I've arranged everything else." Tatum said urgently.
"Mom, I love you!" Sandra hugged Tatum and kissed her cheek before quickly leaving the dressing room.
Her dress tonight was very sexy, a tight strapless gown with cutouts at the waist, showing off her slim figure and attracting attention.
She strutted into the banquet hall, drawing many eyes. She became even more arrogant, lifting her chin as she approached Theodore.
Theodore was talking to Milton. "I never thought we'd be able to chat so calmly one day."
Theodore held a glass of champagne. "I also didn't expect Mr. Ziegler to be Phoebe's biological father."
"Mr. Ziegler has been back for days, visiting Lakeview Estates daily but getting nowhere. The temperature difference between day and night is big, and he caught a cold yesterday. Otherwise, he would have come tonight." Milton said calmly.
Theodore understood. "Got it. I'll make sure to pass it on to Mom."
"Thank you." Milton nodded. Whether playing the sympathy card would work depended on how much Evelyn still cared for Harper.
"It's the least I can do. If our elders get along, we, the younger generation, won't have to worry. Don't you agree?" Theodore smiled.
Milton nodded with a smile, about to say more when he saw Sandra approaching with clear intent.
She was targeting Theodore.
He raised his glass to Theodore. "Mr. Reynolds, your luck with the ladies has arrived. I'll leave you to it."
With that, he left before Sandra reached them.
Sandra stood in front of Theodore, smiling brightly. "Theodore, long time no see. What have you been up to lately?"
"Busy chasing Phoebe," Theodore said bluntly. "Ms. Ramirez, I've already been married. It's not appropriate to chat with other women. If she misunderstands, it'll be hard to explain."
