Chapter 899 Each Has Their Own Thoughts

Everyone has two sides, an angel and a devil. Edward still couldn't let his family see his selfish and shameless side.

Brian went downstairs to his parents' room and chatted with them for most of the night before dragging his tired body back to his room.

Bianca was woken up by him. Smelling the alcohol on him, she frowned, "You reek of booze. Go take a shower before getting into bed."

Brian ignored her, lifted the blanket, and lay down. The warmth of the bed made him close his eyes comfortably, and he fell asleep in no time.

Bianca was furious. She kicked him a few times, but he didn't wake up. Annoyed, she got up, grabbed a blanket, and went to sleep on the couch.

That night, many people were destined to be sleepless.

Donovan stood on the balcony, the night enveloping him, making him look somewhat lonely. Trevor, getting up in the middle of the night, saw him standing there and walked over, draping a coat over his shoulders.

"Mr. Ziegler, why are you still up so late? Something on your mind?"

Donovan flicked the ash from his cigarette and looked into the distance. "Trevor, do you think I'm too ruthless, not showing any old feelings?"

Trevor stood beside him. "Mr. Ziegler, I haven't been through what you have, so I can't judge. But I believe as long as you still have compassion, you won't go too far wrong. Just follow your heart."

Donovan pressed a hand on the railing. "The Vanderbilt family took us in when we were homeless. Delilah treated Phoebe and me very well. Whatever Brian had, we had too. The Vanderbilt family was like a second home to us. If Phoebe hadn't dated Edward, maybe we'd still be one big happy family."

Trevor sensed his melancholy and said, "Mr. Ziegler, all relationships change as we grow up. Adults are far more complicated than children."

"Yeah." Donovan took a deep drag of his cigarette, the smoke stinging his lungs, making him cough violently. "The Vanderbilt family was so good to us, and now I have to go against them. Outsiders will surely call me ungrateful."

Trevor sighed. "If everyone condemns you, will you stop seeking revenge?"

Donovan paused, then shook his head. "No, I must get my revenge."

"Since you've made up your mind, don't overthink it. Whether you'll regret it in the future doesn't matter. What matters is that you don't regret it now," Trevor said.

Donovan said no more.

The next day, Donovan hadn't even gotten up when his assistant came to his door. Waiting for him to get up, the assistant quickly reported, "Mr. Ziegler, latest news: Edward has spent a fortune to acquire the Azure Palace Hotel."

Donovan frowned. The Vanderbilt Group was currently under investigation, with all funds frozen. Why would Edward suddenly buy a five-star hotel now?

"Why?"

"I don't know. Although the Azure Palace Hotel has been profitable, it's not enough to catch his eye. Why the rush to buy it?" the assistant wondered.

"Find out," Donovan ordered.

"Yes, sir." The assistant didn't dare delay and quickly went to investigate.

Meanwhile, in Riaca City, Theodore also received news of Edward's acquisition of the Azure Palace Hotel. Puzzled, he asked Lawton, "The Vanderbilt family is tight on funds. How do they have the money to buy the Azure Palace Hotel?"

Edward's move baffled him.

The Vanderbilt Group's focus wasn't on the hotel industry. Even if they wanted to change direction, the board wouldn't agree, right?

"He spent eighty million dollars to become the major shareholder of the Azure Palace Hotel. The board is in an uproar, but what can they do? The money's already spent," Lawton sighed.

He couldn't understand Edward's move either. It seemed completely nonsensical.

Theodore pondered, "There must be something unusual about this. Could the hotel hold some secret of a big shot, prompting him to buy it in a hurry?"

Lawton's eyes lit up. "Mr. Reynolds, that's a good line of thought. Should I send someone to investigate?"

Theodore nodded. "I want to see what Edward is up to."

At that moment, Theodore had no idea that Edward's acquisition was aimed at him. If he knew, he wouldn't be so nonchalant.

However, there was one person in the city who understood Edward's move: Sandra.

Three years ago, Theodore attended a banquet at the Azure Palace Hotel. She accompanied her parents and fell for him at first sight. But he was out of reach, so she resorted to some clumsy tactics.

Theodore, affected by her scheme, quickly left the banquet and had someone open a presidential suite upstairs. She planned to wait until the effects intensified before going to him, but she was a step too late.

When she arrived, she heard intimate sounds from the room, making her so angry she nearly spat blood. Her meticulous plan had benefited someone else.

She waited outside until the sounds stopped, then saw a woman stumble out of the room.

She quickly hid in the stairwell, only catching a glimpse of the woman's disheveled back, not her face. After the woman left, she sneaked into Theodore's room, leaving some evidence to make him believe she was the woman who spent the night with him.

After leaving the evidence, she went to delete the surveillance footage, only to find someone had beaten her to it: Edward from the Vanderbilt Group.

They had a brief encounter, neither knowing the other, but both understanding the situation.

Now, Sandra sat on the couch, listening to Bianca and her mother, Tatum, complain. "I don't get it. Edward is usually so reliable. Why has he been acting so strangely lately? The company needs funds, and he goes and buys a hotel. Everyone's baffled by his move."

Tatum asked, "What does Brian's father say?"

"Brian's father is furious. He scolded Edward and grounded him. But what's the point of grounding him now? The hotel is bought, and the shareholders are complaining. Someone has to fix this mess. Grounding Edward just means Brian has to take responsibility," Bianca said angrily.

"Even though they're close, why should Brian bear the consequences of Edward's mistake?"

Tatum tried to calm her. "Brian is the CEO, reliable and steady. If he steps in to appease the shareholders, they'll listen. You should be happy about that."

"Happy? The house is in chaos. I don't understand why Edward bought that hotel." Bianca had asked Brian that morning, but he didn't know what Edward was thinking either.

Sandra said, "Bianca, don't worry about why he bought it. As long as the Vanderbilt Group doesn't collapse, your luxury life is secure."

"You're just making snide comments. By the way, why have you been staying home lately? Not chasing after Theodore at the Reynolds Group? What, did you lose favor now that Phoebe's back?" Bianca's gloating tone showed their relationship wasn't friendly.
