Chapter 961 Kedora's First Snow
Phoebe stood frozen, glancing down at herself. She was bundled up in a long down coat, looking like a bear. How was he going to carry her?
"No need, I can walk by myself... Ah!" Phoebe yelped as she involuntarily leaned forward, and the next second, she was sprawled on Theodore's back.
A fresh mint scent enveloped her as he lifted her by the legs.
Fearing she might fall, she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Put me down, it's not good if someone sees us," Phoebe said hurriedly.
Theodore steadily descended the steps and headed towards the villa area. "It's late, no one's around to see us. And even if they did, so what? Can't I carry my wife?"
Phoebe burst into laughter.
Hearing her laugh, Theodore felt relieved. He walked slowly, intending to have a long talk with her.
The cold wind brushed against their faces, and the surroundings were quiet. The neighborhood was empty, making it a perfect setting for a heart-to-heart conversation.
Theodore spoke openly, giving her no chance to evade. "Yesterday morning, you got a call from Lawton, didn't you?"
Phoebe's body suddenly tensed up on his back.
Theodore sighed, "I took Hubert's hair to the lab for a paternity test. Unfortunately, the results weren't what I hoped for."
Phoebe hadn't expected Theodore to be so straightforward. She stopped avoiding the topic and asked the question that had been gnawing at her, "Why did you take Hubert's hair for a paternity test? You knew..."
"Yes, I know Hubert, Boris, and Noomi aren't biologically related to me," Theodore interrupted, closing his eyes briefly. "But I held onto a sliver of hope that the person from that night three years ago was you."
Phoebe was stunned, her mind going blank.
She recalled what Sandra had told her before, that she had been intimate with Theodore. Yet, Theodore didn't seem particularly close to Sandra.
Three years ago.
The timing was incredibly delicate.
Phoebe quickly gathered her thoughts. "Why did you think the person from that night three years ago was me? What made you believe that?"
Talking about this made Theodore want to sigh. "I heard that night you attended a banquet with Raphael from Apex Global Enterprises at the Azure Palace Hotel."
"The Azure Palace Hotel?" Phoebe's eyes widened. She felt like fate was playing a huge joke on her.
"Yes, and Edward insisted on acquiring the Azure Palace Hotel despite the board's objections. I suspected he did it to cover up the fact that you and I had contact that night. Because of this, I believed Hubert, Boris, and Noomi were likely our children."
Phoebe felt dizzy. She grabbed Theodore's coat and asked excitedly, "That night, were you staying in room 8888?"
Theodore's steps faltered, his previously disappointed mood soaring. His heart raced. "How do you know?"
"I was drunk, and Raphael gave me a room key to rest upstairs. I went to the wrong floor and ended up on the top floor, in room 8888. Someone pulled me in, and I ran away without daring to look at who it was. Was that person you?"
Phoebe's voice was soft, as if afraid to disturb something. The joy in her heart surged like waves, each one higher than the last.
Theodore's voice was thick with emotion. "Yeah, I was in room 8888 that night. I'd been drugged and was pretty out of it, but I managed to hold on until I smelled the milk scent on you and lost control."
He closed his eyes, reflecting on how fate had cruelly kept them apart for three years. The person they had embraced that night was indeed each other.
Phoebe's ears burned slightly. She vividly remembered how out of control Theodore had been that night.
"Why did you think the person that night was Sandra?"
Theodore sighed. They had just discovered they were each other's person from that night, and he didn't want to bring up someone else now.
But Phoebe asked, so he had to clarify to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings between them.
"When I woke up the next day, she was in my room. I thought she was the person from the night before," Theodore explained, worried she might misunderstand. "But I never touched her after that."
Phoebe kissed his neck lightly. "I believe you."
Despite Theodore's immense wealth, he was a man of integrity.
She felt incredibly fortunate to have met such an outstanding man.
A surge of electricity flowed from his neck to his limbs, making Theodore's legs weak. He almost knelt with her on his back. He took a deep breath. "Don't mess around."
Phoebe smiled. "Put me down."
"No, I'm carrying you home." Theodore adjusted his breathing, his heart soaked in a mix of tender emotions.
Suddenly, he remembered something. "I heard you were involved with a male model?"
His voice carried a hint of gritted teeth.
Phoebe couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, that male model is worth millions."
Theodore understood her meaning and excitedly put her down, turning to hug her tightly.
"Phoebe, tell me, have you been with anyone else these past three years?"
Phoebe's emotions were stirred by his intensity. She nestled in his arms, feeling no discomfort despite the tight embrace.
She stood on tiptoe and whispered in his ear, "No, besides you, there's been no one else."
Theodore's eyes reddened, his voice choked with emotion. "Louder, I can't hear you. Have you been with anyone else these years?"
Phoebe shouted, "No, from beginning to end, there's only been you, only you!"
Theodore was so happy that he lifted her and spun around. He admitted he had a bit of a cleanliness obsession and a strong desire for exclusivity. He wanted the person he loved to belong to him entirely, both physically and emotionally.
Phoebe quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, laughing. "Stop, your back is hurt. Put me down."
"No, Phoebe, I'll never let go for the rest of my life."
Hearing this, Phoebe laughed joyfully. Her sweet laughter pierced the night.
It was as if God sensed their joy and sent down the first snow of the year.
Snowflakes drifted down from the sky, and Phoebe felt the coolness on her face.
She looked up to see the snowflakes dancing in the air.
She looked at Theodore in surprise. "Theodore, it's snowing! The first snow of the year. It's beautiful!"
Theodore lifted his face and kissed her chin, his eyes never leaving her. "It's truly beautiful."
