Chapter 894 You Are Crazy

Phoebe felt uneasy under his gaze. "What did Grandma say? Your expression is making me anxious. How about I go with you to the hospital?"

"No need, you should head back," Theodore replied.

Sarah had been pretty upset on the phone. If he brought Phoebe along, Grandma might say something hurtful, and he couldn't stand to see her insulted.

"But..."

Theodore cut her off, "I won't be able to have dinner with you tonight. I'll have Jack take you home. I'll be back soon."

Seeing his attitude, Phoebe didn't push further.

Theodore watched Phoebe get into Jack's car before driving to Eternal Love Hospital. Sarah had just finished dinner and was in her room with the nurse.

Seeing Theodore walk in, looking confident and energetic, she had the nurse help her to the bedside, where she sat down and eyed him with displeasure.

"They say people look spirited when good things happen. Seems true enough. Theodore, you look much more lively than you did a couple of years ago." Sarah's words were ambiguous, leaving it unclear whether she was mocking or complimenting him.

Theodore chose to take it as a compliment. He sat in the chair by the bed. "Grandma, you look quite vigorous yourself. I bet you'll be discharged and back home soon."

Sarah's anger flared. "If you all could just stop stressing me out, I wouldn't be stuck in the hospital. None of you ever gives me peace of mind."

Theodore lowered his gaze, remaining silent.

Sarah glared at him. "I heard you and Phoebe got back together. Why didn't she come with you to see me?"

"She doesn't know I'm here," Theodore replied.

Sarah knew his protective nature well. She sneered, "No need to cover for her. She probably made some bold claims recently and now can't face me after going back on her word."

"Grandma!" Theodore frowned in displeasure.

Sarah's temper flared. "Why are you shouting, Theodore? With your wealth and looks, you could have any woman you want. Why insist on one who abandoned you and had children with someone else? What are you thinking?"

Theodore's lips tightened. Each of Sarah's words hit him where it hurt, making it hard for him to respond.

Seeing his grim expression, Sarah softened her tone. "Back then, you wronged her, and she didn't want to stay with you. We understood that. But why come back to her now?"

"It's not her chasing me; it's me chasing her," Theodore said through gritted teeth.

Sarah felt like something was stuck in her chest. She struggled to find her voice. "You know she has three kids with someone else, right?"

"I know."

Sarah's anger surged again. "You know, and you still pursue her? Do you want to be a stepdad that badly?"

Theodore didn't blink. "I don't have that kind of fetish, but if they're her kids, I'll treat them as my own, whether they're biologically mine or not."

"You're crazy!" Sarah stared at Theodore in disbelief. "Why? There are so many women out there. Why are you fixated on her?"

Theodore replied, "Maybe I inherited Grandpa's devotion."

"You!" Sarah pointed at him, speechless. Slowly, she calmed down, realizing she couldn't let him lead the conversation.

Sarah took a deep breath. "Theodore, I don't agree. You're the heir of the Reynolds family, our pride. I don't agree with you being with her."

Theodore frowned. "Grandma, you used to like Phoebe. Why oppose us now?"

"Times have changed. Back then, she was a young girl with you. Now, she's a divorced woman with three kids. It's different," Sarah said harshly.

Theodore's hand clenched into a fist. "If we don't say anything, who will know Hubert, Boris, and Noomi aren't my kids?"

Sarah looked at him in shock. "Are you insane? You're willing to deceive yourself just to get back with her?"

Theodore closed his eyes briefly. "Grandma, just think of me as crazy."

If Sarah weren't sitting, she might have collapsed. She muttered, "You're crazy. Truly crazy. How did the Reynolds family end up with such an unfilial son?"

Theodore stood up, resolute. "I let her go once. This time, I won't let go, no matter what."

"Even if I threaten to die, you won't let go?" Sarah stared at his cold profile, heartbroken and disappointed.

She had always felt Theodore's obsession with Phoebe was unhealthy. Three years later, her fears were confirmed.

Theodore was silent for a moment before speaking. "Grandma, if you don't want to see Phoebe and the kids, I won't bring them to you. You can pretend you don't know."

Sarah was speechless.

She grabbed a pillow and threw it at Theodore. "Are you trying to drive me to my grave?"

He wanted to deceive himself and expected others to do the same. When had he become so weak and pathetic?

Phoebe returned to Lakeview Estates, her eyes swollen from crying, unable to hide it from Evelyn. Seeing her return alone, Evelyn felt a bad premonition.

"Phoebe, why are you back alone? You and Theodore have been inseparable lately. Did you two fight?"

Phoebe shook her head. "No, he went to visit his grandma at the hospital."

Evelyn sighed in relief. "I thought you two were fighting again after just getting back together. How's Grandma doing?"

"Still recovering in the hospital. Shouldn't be anything serious."

Evelyn looked at her. "Grandma used to adore you. Now that you and Theodore are back together, you should find time to visit her."

Phoebe bit her lip.

Evelyn didn't know that aside from Madison, Sarah was probably the person who disliked her the most in the Reynolds family. Thinking back to the bold claims she made when she first returned, Phoebe felt embarrassed.

But back then, she truly believed she and Theodore wouldn't get back together.

So, you should never speak too definitively, or you won't know what to do later.

Evelyn nudged her with an elbow. "I'm talking to you. Are you listening?"

"I heard you. We'll see. A lot is going on at work," Phoebe said, heading upstairs.

Evelyn followed her to her room door. "Phoebe, there's something else. I don't know who else to talk to."

Phoebe saw her expression and let her in. She went to the closet to change into her home clothes. "What's up?"

Evelyn scratched her head, hesitant. "It's about Ruby. Is she dating someone?"
