Chapter 938 Theodore's Daily Life

Laura plopped down next to Everett, and Patrick waved Cindy over. "Hey, come on over and sign the contract for the show."

Cindy took a seat beside him.

Even though Patrick and the others had already gone over the contract, she still didn't trust Laura.

Back in the day, Laura had done a lot behind the scenes to keep Patrick from retiring.

With a smile, Cindy said, "I've never seen a reality show contract before. Mind if I take my time to read it?"

Everett smiled warmly. "Of course, of course. My job today is to get the contracts signed. Take your time, Ms. Croix. If you have any questions, just ask."

"Alright."

Cindy picked up the contract and started reading it carefully.

Laura frowned, wanting to say something, but when she saw Patrick playing with Cindy's sweater, she held her tongue.

Turning to Everett, Laura made small talk. "I heard one of the guest groups this time is just regular folks. Are you trying to create new stars?"

"Not exactly. We just want to add some interesting elements. The guest groups this time are pretty unique, and I'm sure they'll create some sparks." Everett adjusted his glasses, looking mysterious.

Laura understood that Everett didn't want to reveal too much about the guests to keep the show intriguing.

The main reason they took on this reality show was that the production team was generous with their budget.

Plus, their previous shows were hits. With Patrick's fame, this show was bound to be a success.

After chatting for a while, Cindy was still reading the contract, yawning repeatedly.

Back in school, she never liked reading. It always made her sleepy.

Seeing her eyes welling up with tears, Patrick placed his hand on the contract and said, "I've gone through it, and so has the legal team. It's fine."

Cindy noticed Everett watching her and said, "I didn't say there was a problem. I just wanted to see what a reality show contract looks like. Everett, don't think I'm naive."

"Not at all. Take your time, Ms. Croix. I have plenty of time," Everett replied with a smile.

Cindy continued reading, fighting off sleep.

Three minutes later, her eyes were glazed over, staring at the contract without moving.

Patrick signaled to Laura, who quickly said, "Everett, it's your first time at the studio. How about I give you a tour?"

"Sure." Understanding their tactic, Everett stood up and followed Laura.

Patrick took the contract from Cindy's hands and cleared his throat, starting to read it to her. Cindy was taken aback by his gesture.

"I can read it myself. You don't have to," Cindy said, leaning over to grab the contract back.

Patrick pulled her into his arms, holding her still. "Don't argue. Just listen."

Cindy stopped moving, her eyes falling on his long fingers holding the contract. They showed no signs of the frostbite he once had.

But for some reason, she pictured his fingers swollen like carrots, and her mind began to wander.

It wasn't until Patrick finished reading the contract that he noticed she had fallen asleep on his shoulder.

Patrick chuckled. "I seriously wonder how you got into Harvard. Did you guess your way through the exams?"

Cindy yawned and slowly opened her eyes, her voice slightly hoarse. "Are you done? Patrick, if you ever retire, you could become a hypnotist."

Patrick laughed, placing the contract in front of her. "Sign it. Everett is waiting."

"Alright."

Cindy picked up the pen and carefully signed her name. For some reason, she felt a sense of anticipation for this reality show. What changes would it bring?

Meanwhile, Donovan had stepped out of the shadows after his appearance at the Ramirez Group's event. He was ready to take on the Vanderbilt Group.

In mid-December, the tech district released the bidding documents. Dozens of companies, including the Vanderbilt Group, the Ramirez Group, and the Reynolds Group, were eyeing the opportunity.

Once they had the documents, each company began to act, assigning its most experienced executives to handle the bid. The Vanderbilt Group was led by Edward and his top team.

The government had appointed Dwayne Larson to oversee the bidding process. Edward planned to meet with Dwayne beforehand, but was told that Dwayne wouldn't meet with any company representatives before the bidding.

Edward understood this was to avoid any appearance of favoritism, but he didn't give up. He found out that Dwayne's son attended Kedora School.

Knowing how much Dwayne doted on his son, picking him up and dropping him off every day, Edward had his assistant track Dwayne's schedule. He then staged a coincidental meeting.

However, on the day he planned to meet Dwayne, Theodore showed up at Kedora Elementary with Hubert, beating Edward to the punch.

The school entrance was crowded.

Theodore, holding Hubert, ran into Dwayne.

They recognized each other from the bidding site.

After exchanging greetings, Theodore said, "Dwayne, there are too many parents picking up their kids right now. It might be hard to drive out. How about we grab a bite at a nearby restaurant?"

Dwayne was about to decline when his son said, "Dad, I got a hundred on my test today. You promised to take me out for something good."

Seeing his son's expectant face, Dwayne swallowed his refusal. "Alright, but we're just eating. No business talk."

Theodore chuckled. "Sure, I also want to learn how you raised such a smart and well-behaved kid."

One holding a child, the other leading one, they crossed the street to a restaurant. They found a table that someone had left.

Theodore fetched a high chair, wiped it down with wet wipes and disinfectant, and then placed Hubert in it.

Dwayne remarked, "I didn't expect Mr. Reynolds to be so meticulous with kids."

"Kids are delicate. They get sick easily if they catch germs. Although his mom always says boys should be raised tough to withstand viruses, I don't think it's necessary," Theodore replied.

Dwayne nodded. "Nowadays, it's the dads who are careful, while the moms are more laid-back. My wife is the same. She thinks I coddle our son too much. Whenever she's off work, she takes him to the mountains, which worries me sick."

Theodore glanced at the child quietly eating fries. He didn't seem spoiled and didn't interrupt the adults.

Theodore smiled. "Mrs. Larson has a long-term view. If we can be tough, kids can adapt well."

They chatted, sharing parenting tips and venting about their wives, but never mentioned the bidding.

An hour later, Dwayne said, "Raising kids is a big challenge. I've learned a lot from our conversation today, Mr. Reynolds."

Theodore shook hands with Dwayne, watching him leave the restaurant door.

When he turned around, he saw Edward standing there.
