Chapter 878 Retorting Vanessa
Phoebe rolled her eyes. After all these years, Vanessa's ability to shirk responsibility hadn't diminished one bit; in fact, she had become even more adept at it.
Before Phoebe could speak, Lori preemptively said, "Ms. Fitzroy must not have understood the cause of the incident. With so many people watching, it was your Finnegan who started it. Now, Wesley is the one most seriously injured. If you can't see that, it's one thing, but don't go around falsely accusing others."
Vanessa was furious. "What kind of place is this where an assistant gets to speak?"
"Ms. Fitzroy, what a big boss you are. Are you saying that your company's actors can hit people, and no one else is allowed to speak up for justice?" Phoebe retorted.
Vanessa looked at Phoebe. Perhaps good things had been happening to her recently; Phoebe, dressed in a black suit, looked radiant and even more stunning than when she had just returned to the country.
Thinking about her own recent turbulent life, Vanessa was so angry she could almost grind her teeth to dust.
Vanessa sneered, "Who doesn't know that your company's actors are insidious, hitting people where it can't be seen? Don't be fooled by the injuries on your actor's face; I guarantee there are no serious injuries on his body."
"In that case, Ms. Fitzroy, should we have them undergo a medical examination to see who is more seriously injured?" Phoebe also sneered.
Vanessa pressed her red lips tightly together. Queen Entertainment already had a bad reputation in the industry. If today's incident got out, just the injuries on Wesley's face would be enough to criticize Finnegan.
She gritted her teeth and said, "It seems you want to blow this up?"
Hank saw the two of them at each other's throats and knew that if this could be resolved privately, it should be. If it escalated, the consequences could be serious. He quickly interjected, "Ladies, I don't think the injuries are that serious. They're both men; getting a medical examination would seem unnecessary. Blowing this up would damage both of your reputations. It's not worth it."
Phoebe said, "We're not afraid. Let the netizens see how Queen Entertainment lets its male actors behave, grabbing faces and scratching like catty actresses. The loss of dignity won't be on us."
Finnegan's face turned red. "Ms. Ziegler, that's quite an accusation."
Phoebe looked at him and sneered, "When you were scratching faces in a fight, did you not think that your actions were inappropriate?"
"You!" Finnegan was so angry he couldn't speak.
Queen Entertainment was clearly in the wrong. If this got out on Facebook, their reputation would suffer.
Vanessa gritted her teeth and swallowed her anger. "The film is only a third of the way through. If a scandal breaks out, it could ruin the entire movie."
Phoebe looked at her coldly. "Now you think about the bigger picture. But why should Wesley take the hit? With so many scratches on his face, who knows if there will be scars? If it ruins his future acting career, can Finnegan take that responsibility?"
Phoebe's words were firm. Finnegan, seeing her determined expression, began to panic. "Ms. Fitzroy..."
"Shut up!" Vanessa hadn't expected Finnegan to use such despicable tactics in a fight, making him so contemptible. She took a deep breath. "Ms. Ziegler, what do you want?"
"Nothing much. Finnegan should publicly apologize to Wesley on Facebook."
Vanessa's eyes almost popped out. During the initial photo shoot, they had already fought once. At that time, Finnegan had spoken rudely, and Wesley had easily secured a mouthwash endorsement because of it.
Now, she couldn't afford to do something that would benefit Phoebe at her own expense.
"Impossible!" Vanessa flatly refused.
Phoebe said, "Fine, then we'll see you at the police station. Lori, call the police."
Lori had just taken out her phone when Hank grabbed her wrist and said to Phoebe, "Ms. Ziegler, let's talk privately."
Phoebe pursed her lips and glanced at Wesley's scratched face. She walked aside with Hank.
Hank analyzed the pros and cons.
The film had already gone through many ups and downs from the initial photo shoot to the official start of filming. The last argument had already made many netizens unhappy. If this incident blew up, it could affect the box office.
Unlike TV shows, if the audience had a bad impression from the start and didn't want to buy tickets, poor box office performance would benefit no one.
It would be better to keep this under wraps for now and deal with it after the film's release, which could also generate some buzz for the movie.
Phoebe listened to Hank's sincere words and knew that even if she wanted justice, she couldn't rush it. So she had to swallow her anger.
But her enmity with Vanessa deepened.
Previously because of Theodore, and now because of their company's actors, there was no way the two of them could coexist peacefully.
The storm temporarily subsided. With Wesley's face injured, he couldn't film for a few days. Hank gave him a few days off to go back to Kedora with Phoebe.
On the flight back, Phoebe unfortunately ended up sitting in the same row as Vanessa.
Phoebe wanted to change seats immediately, but Vanessa taunted, "Ms. Ziegler, are you afraid of me?"
Phoebe was certainly not afraid of Vanessa. At this point, there was no way she could coexist peacefully with Vanessa. But if she changed seats now, it would seem like she was afraid of Vanessa.
"Why would I be afraid of you? Are you going to bite me?" Phoebe sneered.
She looked down on Vanessa's underhanded tactics. After sitting down, she closed her eyes to rest, not wanting to engage with Vanessa.
Vanessa had failed to splash paint on Phoebe last time and had completely fallen out with Theodore. If it weren't for her connection with Bishop, she would have lost all her status and power.
And all her life's tragedies were because of Phoebe.
In love, Phoebe had stolen her man. In her career, Phoebe had always overshadowed her.
Since Phoebe returned to the country and founded Superstar Entertainment, in just over half a year, Superstar Entertainment had been thriving in the entertainment industry.
The last time they went to Kedora Film Academy to recruit, several promising newcomers rejected Queen Entertainment's offers and signed with Superstar Entertainment instead.
Phoebe had been suppressing her in every way, and the situation had reached a point where she could no longer tolerate it.
Seeing Phoebe resting with her eyes closed, Vanessa said, "I heard Theodore moved into your house. You're quite skilled at seducing men."
Phoebe's eyelids twitched, but she didn't respond.
Seeing Phoebe ignoring her, Vanessa became even more aggressive. "Does Theodore know you're a loose woman? Look at the constant stream of men around you. You're just a tramp who's been used by everyone. What does he see in you? Your skills in pleasing men?"
Phoebe opened her eyes, a dark tide surging in them. "No wonder Finnegan speaks so vulgarly; he must have learned it from you. But Ms. Fitzroy, it's quite laughable. Have you cleaned up the mess in your own company? How dare you talk about others?"
"You!" Vanessa seemed to have been hit in a sore spot.
Phoebe turned her gaze to her. "To those who know, it looks like you run an entertainment company. To those who don't, it might seem like you manage a high-end club where actors sell themselves."
If it weren't for Grace still being an actress at Queen Entertainment, Phoebe might have said even nastier things.
