Chapter 874 A Chance Encounter with Evan at the Airport

When Phoebe was leaving, Theodore unhappily took her to the airport, his face gloomy the entire time, making Lori, who hitched a ride midway, shiver in fear.

The car stopped outside the terminal, and Phoebe got out. Theodore had already taken both of their suitcases out of the trunk.

Lori quickly ran over to push the suitcase, nervously saying, "Thank you, Mr. Reynolds. This is something I should do. How could I trouble you?"

Theodore ignored her. He walked up to Phoebe, his expression inexplicably showing a bit of resentment, "Come back soon. Call me when you arrive, and I'll pick you up when you return."

Phoebe smiled. She leaned in to hug him, "I'm leaving now. Take care of the house for me."

Theodore's face darkened. As she was about to pull away, he placed his large hand on her lower back, pulling her tightly against him. He gritted his teeth and whispered in her ear, "When you come back, I want compensation."

With people coming and going at the terminal, it wasn't the most private moment for them to be hugging. Phoebe's cheeks flushed slightly. Without asking what kind of compensation he wanted, she quickly agreed.

"Alright, alright, I'm going in now."

Theodore still felt reluctant. He hugged Phoebe tightly before finally letting her go.

Phoebe turned and walked towards the entrance with Lori. When their luggage was going through security, she looked back outside. Theodore was still standing there, seeing her off.

She raised her hand and waved at him, hearing Lori teasing beside her, "Ms. Ziegler, you and Mr. Reynolds are really inseparable."

Phoebe withdrew her hand, glared at her for being talkative, and then followed the crowd into the terminal.

The two of them went in to get their boarding passes and went through security. Inside, they saw fans holding light signs. Seeing the name "Evan" on the signs, they knew these were Evan's fans.

Phoebe said to Lori, "Evan has become more and more famous these past two years. His fans are all over the world."

"Yeah, I wonder what his schedule is today. I heard some fans bought flights at the same time just to get through security and see him off. Evan's fans are really rich." Lori, who also liked Evan, craned her neck to look for him. "Ms. Ziegler, if I see Evan later, can I ask him for an autograph?"

Phoebe said, "As long as you can get close enough."

She had seen a news headline before: whenever Evan appeared, he would be surrounded by fans. With Lori's small frame, she would be pushed away before getting close.

Lori pretended to roll up her sleeves, looking ready for a big fight, "Ms. Ziegler, watch me. I'll use the same determination I have when I'm grabbing the last slice of pizza in the cafeteria to get close to him."

Phoebe couldn't help but laugh, "Alright, stop joking around."

Lori was just talking big. The two of them walked to the boarding gate, where the waiting area was already full of people. A flight was starting to board, and hearing the airport announcement, passengers got up to line up for boarding.

Lori pulled Phoebe to quickly run over and sit in a row of empty seats. Soon, all the seats were taken.

Phoebe looked around and noticed a man in a black flight jacket and a baseball cap sitting next to her, his face well hidden.

Phoebe couldn't help but take another look. This person's figure seemed so familiar.

She stared a few more times, and fans in the aisle were screaming, "Someone saw Evan at gate 19. Let's go over there."

The fans ran off in a frenzy. Lori, seeing their craziness, whispered, "Ms. Ziegler, these aren't ordinary fans. They're obsessive, irrational fans, right?"

Many of these obsessive fans were willing to pay high prices to get into the airport to surround celebrities, just to take close-up photos and create albums to sell to regular fans.

It was said that this industry chain was quite profitable.

But because of the high profits, it was hard to stop these obsessive fans.

"Probably."

"Why is Evan so charming? I heard one of his photo albums sells for a thousand dollars. Fans are really crazy." Lori said, "If I were an obsessive fan, I'd sneak into Evan's house to take nude photos of him."

As soon as she said this, the surrounding air seemed to freeze.

Phoebe's left shoulder sank, and the person next to her put his arm around her shoulder, looking at Lori with narrowed eyes, "You have quite the guts."

Lori, seeing a stranger with his arm around Phoebe, was about to ask who he was and why he was harassing Phoebe. But then she saw Evan's facial features under the baseball cap and pointed at him, shouting, "Evan."

Nearby fans, hearing her call out, stopped and looked over.

Evan, quick-witted, leaned his head on Phoebe's shoulder, making them look like a familiar couple. Even with the sharpest eyes, fans couldn't see through the disguise.

Just then, fans screamed from the other side, diverting their attention, and they dashed off as if heading into a battle.

Once the fans' footsteps faded, Phoebe shrugged her shoulder, signaling Evan not to take advantage of her.

Evan straightened up, his face mostly hidden under the baseball cap, "What a coincidence, Ms. Ziegler. Where are you headed?"

"On a business trip to Suncrest City. What about you, Mr. DeRoss?" Their polite tone sounded particularly distant, but Lori could hear the familiar teasing.

"I'm also going to Suncrest City," Evan said.

Phoebe raised an eyebrow. Those fans had just said he was going to Silverpeak City, "You're going to Suncrest City, not Silverpeak City?"

Evan shrugged, "I'm too popular. I have to do this, or I won't get any peace during the flight."

Phoebe laughed, "That's what you get for being so famous."

Evan glanced at her, "I haven't seen you since you returned. What have you been busy with lately?"

"Busy making money, of course. Aren't you also a busy person, spending more time in the air than on the ground?" Phoebe teased.

Evan chuckled, "You sound quite resentful. What, did you miss me?"

Phoebe shook her head, "Too busy to miss you."

Evan clicked his tongue and laughed, "So heartless. I used to fly to Caneda to see you every few days."

Evan used to fly to Caneda frequently a couple of years ago, almost as often as Edward. But his schedule was tight, and he didn't have as much time as Edward. Every time he managed to visit her, he had to leave quickly.

During those years, he was indeed a bit infatuated with Phoebe. Later, Phoebe had a long talk with him.

It was actually a clear rejection.

She said she had three kids, and she couldn't be with him because he was a public figure. Even if he retired from the industry, he could never completely leave the public eye.

As long as someone paid attention to him, the kids would eventually be exposed.

At that time, fans would go crazy, frantically searching for information about her and the kids. They would be subjected to long-term cyberbullying.

She absolutely didn't want to see that outcome.

Evan had no choice but to give up and gradually distance himself. But when they met again, he still spotted her in the crowd immediately.
